Does the GB truly beleive they are being used by God
by sspo in.
what do you think?.
i have a hard time accepting the fact that intelligent men truly beleive the creator has a special arrangement with them and somehow they are being used in a special position because of one scripture about the faithful and discreet slaves.. they should all be locked up in a nut house for beleiving that.

Good for you. I helped a friend and his wife out of the bOrg by telling them about crisis of conscience. The guy was open minded and was having difficulty making sense of the doctrine and the waffling. We have been talking a lot the past few months and he totally stopped going to the meetings as well as his wife. He views the society as a dishonest organization.
He in turn started preaching (great choice of words, ha ha) to other jdubs about the UN and stuff. Interestingly, he got a hold of steve hassan's second book which focuses more on helping those trapped in a cult to open their eyes. When the jdub heard about the societies involvement with the UN he didn't believe it and went to his congregation to speak to one of the elders, a few days later he came back to him and explained that the elder said material was apostate. My friend countered with a illustration of what a ad hominem logic fallacy is. He said that if two politicians were debating about crime and one politician called the other a drunk and womanizer, that is a ad hominem attack because it attacks the other person but doesn't address the issue that was raised. The society does this all the time when they label something or someone apostate. They don't always address the issue that was raised but seek to divert peoples attention by the label. The jdub he spoke to opened his eyes wide when he heard this and became quiet. He then started asking more questions about the bOrg.
I really think we should start sharing our experiences on how we helped others out of the bOrg. Personally, I don't try to attack the society but rather the futility of trying to make sense of the nonsense. People can't and usually resort to the 'well, I've been in this long and don't have anywhere else to go'. I like to do a little sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle.... over time.

Losch brought up 1975 and compared it to a mother being wrong on predicting the day her baby would be born-of course she wouldn't throw out the baby clothes, cribs, etc because of this, she KNOWS the baby is coming! Of course, if a woman is still expecting 30 years later there is something ELSE wrong with this picture.
Well the comparison is wrong but if he wanted to be technical, the baby was expected in 1878, 1914, 1915, 1918, 195, 1940's, 1975, 1994 and before the year 2000. What a dumbass!

The Next Prediction
by truthsetsonefree ini believe that the governing body, whether directly or by implication, will predict the great tribulation very soon.
1. they have predicted for a long time now that religion would be destroyed.
2. after the destruction of religion, gog and his hordes would attack the watchtower.

Sounds to me that they will probably be clamping down on the rank and file. They may be taking a stricter position toward the inactive ones, stricter position regarding college, stricter position regarding the internet, cable tv, etc... They also may want more donations and this announcement could touch on this as well.

Hey Lonely sheep, sorry we missed you. I was standing outside bedside the JWD sign until about 7:50pm and then I went to join the group. We were about 4 rows from the back. I was suprised how small the theatre was, maybe 80 seats total. Perhaps we will meet when AudeSapere visits NJ next month.

Watchtower Ironies - When I was a babe
by Mysterious inanyone else find it amusing how many of the things they do are ironic?
they talk about "babes" that eat spiritual milk and not solid food, and yet their publications are milk.
they never teach people to think for themselves (chew) at all.

And most Dubs would gullibly think (even as I once did) that the Governing Body possesses the intellectual might to come up with these *amazing* ideas all by themselves. What poppycock!! The Governing Body wouldn't be able to name their ass if it was handed to them on a silver platter.
Inquisitor, you poztate bastard, the governing body could name their ass. (that's about all they can do)

Well just got back from the play and it was a interesting, telling the hard luck story of a family of women who experienced a lot of death and hardship in their family. The jdub in the play was cast sort of like a born-again jdub which was a little inaccurate but they got the arrogances correct and also the idealistic boyfriend who came across like a bethelite. Interestingly, it ended badly for the jdub woman in the play, you could see that she was starting to question her faith, question the hard stance of her soon to be husband, the bad effects the extreme religious view was having toward her 10 year old daughter and the bad results that followed after the marriage. It reminded me of some of the marriages that went bad in the bOrg. So many witnesses have such a naive view of marriage and they think putting the organization advice first in their marriage will save it. I felt bad for the jdub woman in the play, but I did enjoy the play overall. I think many on this forum would likewise enjoy this play.
There were five who came, and we went out to a really nice restaurant afterward (Seven, located on 350 7th ave btwn 29th and 30th, which was right around the corner). We discussed the play and then our experiences with the bOrg. It was a great evening.

Justice-one, sounds like a awesome experience. I'm glad to hear you did it to conquer your fear. Camping outdoors is a fun experience and a great hobby. Being prepared for the unexpected is prudent, forget about what the city-slickers say. I know that conquering your fears is a very life affirming experience and really does empower you, I personally try to challege my fears all the time and it is amazing how much confidence you develop and how much sweeter life becomes. Kudos to you.
