Elders in denial?
by Bobhere inafter i was df and seriously questioning my faith in the org ( won't call it the truth) i gave a copy of coc to an elder i have known since i was a young man.
he read it found it disturbing and said that he didn't realize problems that he found at his level of involvement went so high.
i then gave him a copy of "in search of christian freedom" he never read it said that he didn't want to question his faith in the brothers.

well, my view is that if you have a higher level of responsibility, you have a obligation to make sure what you teach is true. It is one thing not to have information available and quite another thing to have the information but refuse to look into it.

Using the Gold Mine
by Gregor inthe archives of posts on jwd represents a gold mine of information, personal experiences and intelligent discussions.
i think it would be of real benefit, especially to those who cautiously peek in on the site (aka, lurkers), to be able to select from an index of subject matter.
there would be a subject reference address for the beginning of those threads that discussed the subject and include some special posts that were of particular quality in the realm of the jwd site.

i think what the site needs is a better search engine.

Bluetooth Headsets: Geeky or Sexy?
by Elsewhere inas a programmer i am exposed to high technology all the time and ironically this has given me an odd aversion to it!
i like gadgets and gizmos like anyone else; however i demand it be discrete.
when i'm out-n-about i want to be connected, but at the same time i don't want anyone to be able to see it.. for years i have avoided the bluetooth headsets that appear to be gaining in popularity, however im still not quite ready to get one because of the obvious geek factor and the simple fact that many people who wear them appear to be making the "look at me, i've fancy" statement.

The damn things look horrible, "look at me, I'm buck rogers". If someone gave me one as a gift, it would go in the glove compartment and probably be forgotten. Sorry if I offend anyone but that's what it looks like to me.

Ex-Scientologist Interview
by GetBusyLiving inthis is an interview i just read of an ex-member of the church of scientology.
there are a ton of them over at the site i read this on, but this one in particular really struck me because of the parallels i noticed between the cos and the jw's.
pretty heart-wrenching stuff.. .

and that I was going to be declared a suppressive person
Sounds a lot like being disfellowshipped. I am going to use this expression with the Jdubs that witness to me.

Excellent Article Examining JW Policy On Blood Fractions!
by bjc2read inhi,.
for those among us here who find the current jw blood policy inconsistent, namely which allows for the use of blood fractions for members, but not the use of whole blood in transfusions, the following article presents i believe, an excellent argument examining the current situation facing rank and file members today.
here is the link: jehovah's witnesses are now taking blood!.

great arguement, as long as you break blood up to its components and then separate these components to it's components, it is no longer a issue (red blood cells = cell membrane + hemoglobin) (Plasma = it components) etc... You could even drink the stuff and it is alright (gross but I said it to make a point)

by new boy ini 'm sorry all of this is not in order.............i'm writing as all this comes back to me.. my first room assignment was room 33 in the 129 building....it was and old building, built around the turn of the century,...the society owned it but it had worldly people in to.......i'm not sure why but maybe there was a law that provented them from being kicked out or something.
it was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment (about 1000 sq.
ft.) there were 7 of us in there, all new boys ( less then one year there).

this black guy walks up to him, with his 3 year old kid and points to my friend and says "DO YOU SEE THIS BOY?...........pointing to my friend, "THIS IS A WHITETY!.......YOU HATE WHITETY!........YOU KILL WHITETY!..........then just walked off. Those fun New Yorkers..................
Hey new boy, a lot has changed in NYC in the last 30 years since you were here, racial tensions have eased considerably and crime has went way down. I think your experiencet was more of the backlash of the civil rights movement, black panther type activism and a time of social change. I hope this experience hasn't poisoned your view of the city, I think it is the best city in the world.
