X-JWs Who are now bible Christians
by clash_city_rockers inhi folks,.
i'm just sort of taking role call to all those x-dubs who are now brothers and sisters in christ.
i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.

Born into the JW religion - DF in 1986, reinstated 6 months later, DF'd again about 4 years later (guess I didn't learn my lesson the first time ). I wanted nothing to do with religion for the next 10-11 yrs.
Long story short - went to a non-denominational church memorial service for a friend who passed away,
heard things I never heard before,
felt something I NEVER felt before,
prayed a lot, studied and found answers,
was baptized last November. To Happy Man:
What you must realize happy man is that only in a few churches (JW, Mormons) are you REQUIRED to agree with every doctrine that the church teaches. Being a true "born again" does not mean that you are a member of ANY church. Church is for worshiping God and building each other up - it's not for dictating doctrines or lifestyles. Being Born again is accepting Jesus as your savior AND making him the Lord of your life. That means trying to walk in a path he wants for you every day. I study the bible and have made a decision on some doctrines, still studying others - but what is going to save me is not that kind of "factual knowledge" it is "knowing" Jesus - as in having a personal relationship with him, accepting his free gift, knowing him personally. It's a hard concept for JW's to accept, I know, it took me 3 years before I finally got it.

The new "Generation" doctrine
by Dawn incould someone explain to me how the generation doctrine changed?
i know that originally they thought it applied to the generation of 1914 and i heard that it changed.
i asked my dad to explain it to me but his explanation didn't make any sense to me - something like "a generation can last forever" ???

I am talking to my mom a little and wanted some background on this issue. She is starting to question but is afraid to really speak up - doesn't want to loose her friends and all - you know what I mean.

To All Faithful Jehovah's Witnesses...
by cyrano inhey non_trias_theos, protector of all that's holy, please explain why the watchtower 'slept' with the 'wild beast' united nations for almost ten years and continues to lie about it even now.. watchtower is lying about u.n. involvement.
"our purpose for registering with the department of public information as a nongovernmental organization (ngo) in 1991 was to have access to research material available on health, ecological, and social problems at the united nations library facilities.
we had been using the library for many-years prior to 1991, but in that year it became necessary to register as an ngo to have continued access.

Happy Man:
I think it is a good thing to use any and all resources to protect people's human rights (all humans). So on that point I agree with the WTS.
However, I do not agree with their being deceitful about it. Why not be honest from the start and say they are joining the UN and for what reasons. Instead they paint the UN as the scarlet beast, criticize everyone else who is a member, yadda yadda yadda. It is quite ironic isn't it?

I would really like to hear an active JW's explanation of this. I asked my mom but she wasn't aware of anything involving the organization and the UN - do most active JW's not know about this subject?
Seriously - I'd like to hear your side of it. Thanks.

Where is the Great Crowd?
by Dawn inthis post is mainly for non_trias_theos - but any of you who are jw's feel free to respond.
i know this should probably be posted on the bible research board, but being that "non" is a newbie i wasn't sure he'd check there.. question - where is the great crowd?.
read the verses (revelation 7:9) in revelation that refer to the great crowd (or multitude) and tell me where they are in those verses.

So the Throne of God is on earth? They are standing before the Throne of God - I always thought that was in heaven.
God does not come down and make his place with mankind until the end of Revelation - after Armageddon.

Love, Marriage and Leaving JWs?
by non_trias_theos inhave you ever heard bitter divorcees relate their experiences about their former husbands or wives?
most of the time, if it is a wife telling the story, her former husband could not do anything right.
he was a terrible father, lover, provider, cook, gardener and he smelled funky and was abusive.

Non - I posted this question for you but you must have missed it:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=28194&site=3
I know it's off the subject of this Thread so perhaps you could take a looksie and post over there. Thanks - I'm curious to hear your response. I have asked a number of other JWs.

Of course most individuals here are not going to defend the Organization - they have left it for a reason and they're here to share their stories and heal.
I do understand your point - you're wondering what prompted someone to change their tune from Happy JW to Happy Apostate - check out the Personal Experiences forum for people's stories.
Of course - what is right for one person isn't the answer for someone else. So the Organization may offer what you need in your life right now and that's great - my uncle is an active JW now (for about 5 years) and it's the only thing that has ever kept him sober since he was 18 (he's now 75). So obviously the structured lifestyle and socializing is helping him. For others, like myself, it was a prison - and contributed to a major depression.

Take Responsibility For Your Thrownness
by non_trias_theos inwe are the decisions we make.
we are thrown into the world and left to make of it what we will.
non trias thinks there is some truth to these observations.. god has allowed us to see the light of life so that we might make of it what we will.

Even the decision to use one's thrownness to become a jw is an act of freedom.
Unless you were "born into it" as I was. I didn't have a choice as a child - but I did use my freedom of choice once I was an adult to leave.
I do not blame the society for any part of my life - but I CHOOSE to help others OUT OF HER so they also can grow and heal.
