WT 1986 re: The U.N.

i don't know if this has been posted, quite frankly it gets confusing.

if it has been posted i am sorry if it hasn't hopefully it will help.

i took this from the 1986 watchtower 10/01 page 20. it first describes the wild beast and what the heads and horns mean.

MacHisLopp (I hope that is right! LOL) Anyway, I would love to post it in your thread but I can't get anywhere that has more than one page in it. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. Can you post them for me? Also, I came across the other bound volume that I wanted to quote from. It is the 1985 Watchtower bound volume. October 1st & 15th both contain a lot of their views on the UN. I would like to quote a couple of things from the 10/01 article. On page 5 it says:

"...the United Nations organisation is a child of this world and thus inherits its characteristics.....An immoral organisation can never bring peace and security."

This one I find particularly interesting on page 11:

"When the nations not only rejected God's Kingdom but also established thier own organisation to bring peace, that was rebellion."

Well this one is good too,LOL. From page 12:

""the disgusting thing" appeared at the moment Jehovah wanted his people to flee."

And to go on in the October 15th magazine, on page 6:

"But there is a more compelling reason why the United Nations' efforts to save the "old earth" are futile. (This next part is in italics in the article.) It is against God's purposes."

"Upon its back there rides a woman, "Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth."....She commits spiritual harlotry by getting involved in politics. Religion's linking up with the UN in the world's campaign for peace and security is an example of this."

Also I found in the September 1, 1987 Watchtower page 20:

"The United Nations is actually a worldy confederacy against Jehovah God and his dedicated Witnesses on earth today. .........scheming up what they may do against the visible organisation of Jehovah God on earth."

And this one is a winner. This one was found in the September 1, 1989 Watchtower page 6 (This page number was disappointing because it was not page 20. I was thinking that there must have been some significance to them putting most on the UN stuff on page 20.) The name of this article is "FULL OF BLASPHEMOUS NAMES" It goes on to say:

"Ascribing to human organisations things that God's Kingdom alone will accomplish is blasphemous. Thus, the Bible foretells that after a short existence, the United Nations will go "off into destruction." Only God's perfect heavenly government can bring lasting peace to mankind."

I have more article to look through but this but a few that I have come across that I felt were important.

As I told my daughter the other day.............I was wishy washy about everything (yet knowing something was wrong) but this UN thing clinched the deal.

this subject is really confusing to me.

since it appears that the wtbts is not what it purports to be, what exactly is giving the "anointed" the impression that they have a heavenly calling?

does any of ray franz' books tell exactly what made him feel that way?

I am tired, granted, but in my memory the Bible talks about the 144,000 as being 12,000 out of the 12 tribes of Isreal. This point was brought to my attention by my husband who grew up as a Lutheran, and once he said it.............I wondered why I had never questioned it. Are we now part of the 12 tribes anymore? I think not. Once the Jews lost their favor with God, I believe that what was prophesied was then fulfilled.

reuters.... in a surprise development today, jehovah, the god of the christian fundamentalist sect 'jehovah's witnesses' made a statement about the recent controversy regarding the watchtower bible and tract society(wts) and its ngo status.

the 'wts' has now dissassociated itself from its previous ngo connection but had held such a position for the past 9 years or so.

'i've had enough' said the diety, 'i just don't know what i am supposed to do with these people.

The header for this is just REUTERS. Can you give a more specific address for this? I am afraid that many of us still take all that is posted/printed as the gospel truth. I personally need to see things for myself. Where did you get this info from?

i have started an "article" about the wtbts and the un in the true wtbts format (i hope) before i go into anymore work and investigation i wanted your opinions as to whether i am on the mark as to their way of speaking or not.

I have started an "article" about the WTBTS and the UN in the true WTBTS format (I hope) Before I go into anymore work and investigation I wanted your opinions as to whether I am on the mark as to their way of speaking or not. Here goes:

"Think for a moment, and reflect………would you want to be part of a "society" of people who have pulled the wool over your eyes………..in effect lied to you? Let's take it to a more personal level. Would you continue a personal relationship if it were proven that the other individual told you even the most innocent of lies…a white lie i.e.?

Isn't it true that each and every one of us wants to feel secure in the honesty of the relationships that we have? Don't we feel as honest persons that we deserve the same when it comes to others dealings with us?

What about if it were the same religion that you base your entire way of life on? Would you without question follow every written or personally stated word that they were correct, without investigating the situation for yourself?

No! That would be like following a "wolf in sheep's clothing" without even a hint of finding out for yourself that indeed this was the truth spoken to you. Would we as intelligent individuals allow that to happen to us?

Alas, it has happened to too many of us. Look at your own religion. Has it told you lies? Do you without question believe EVERYTHING that they say as the absolute "truth"? Does your particular religion "encourage you" to take everything that they say and print as being the "word of God"? Does your particular religion "ostracize" you for asking questions regarding their doctrine? If this is the case, you are strongly encouraged to do some investigating for yourself. Do not be led astray by persons who want, and do, monitor and regulate your every move. Enjoy the relationship that only you and God can enjoy and truly learn what is the best for YOU!"

Am I on the right track so far? I am not one to write a whole lot, but I feel that this is important since this is the one and only thing that has totally broken my ties. Grnated, I quit going about 12 years ago, for all practical purposes but the "ties that bind" have bitten me in the butt big time. This is what did it for me. The Society + the U.N.

Please let me know if this is the vein I should continue in or if I should alter it a bit.
