Those JWs are trying to share the good news of God's Kingdom. And all you do is ridicule them.

Weddings That Honor Jehovah
by Kent in*** w97 4/15 23 weddings that honor jehovah ***.
i simply love reading the watchtower.
there is so many fine, timely advices to get, and i simply cants understand all the people here whining about the watchtower being a mind controlling cult.

Prisca, I was going to comment on your pic a while ago, but it did not seem to be the appropriate time. But since this thread has opened up, I must say, you do look great.

from our readers...
by zev indo you think that part of the awake is another made up version, like the question from readers?
or do you think "real" people send in those "oh, this helped me to be so blah blah blah" experiences for real?.
in the manner of richard dawson...... survey says:.

What gets me is how many people read the articles and then end up "in tears".

Lately, the bookstudy has been toughest, because we have a conductor who fills that whole hour even though there may only be a few paragraphs to cover. He talks way too much; mercifully, the MS who conducts in his stead gets the thing done in almost half the time. Overall, I had always thought that the bookstudy was an easier meeting to take, but now I see that that is the case only when the conductor keeps things moving. The guy we have now is just killing us with endless droning during nearly every paragraph.
Other than that, a boring speaker during the public talk can be pure agony!
As for the WT Study, I really wish we'd do it WITHOUT reading the paragraphs.
The service meeting can really be boring, especially those parts where there are platform discussions, two or three brothers up there talking about KH building projects for example. And how many demos and new approaches do we really need?
The school gets boring too, especially by the time talk #2 rolls around. And the whole thing about giving and receiving speech counsel in front of the audience always bugged me.
I'd really like to see some "simplification" in the area of meetings. I would like to see just two days/nights out of the week taken up, instead of three. I'd like to see the school and service meeting somehow consolidated into one meeting, with a bookstudy-like discussion to follow. Eliminate bookstudy groups and call them "service groups" instead, just having them meet in smaller groups for service. Then have a public talk and WT study on another day (no paragraph reading) with a total time of 1 1/2 hours.

The CO's visit
by OrangeBlossom inthis past week was the visit of our circuit overseer.
i know what you are thinking so before i post some of his comments that i personally found interesting, i only went to keep peace in the family and not give rise to suspicion about my true feelings.
so with that said, here are some things that grabbed my attention.. 1) his talk thursday nite was about being successful and how the world's view of success is far different than the organizations.

OB, I think you hit the nail on the head w this post, epecially at the end when you pointed out that many no longer believe that the JW faith is "the truth", but they attend some meetings so that they do not lose family/friends.

Supplement to Justice #15 - Parking Lot
by Amazing inhellow everyone: there were a number of responses to justice #15 about the parking lot dfing.
i decided to make a new post to deal with these related but different issues.. first, the purpose of the post was not so much about rushing to judgment, but to show that the process is flawed, and the reflective question at the end shows that i was disturbed as to why we allowed these events to develop the way we do, especially over matters that really are not all that serious.. second, your follow-up comments also bring out some good additional concerns.
i will address those that seem to be of greatest concern.

Amazing, thanks for the follow-up, and yes, it's a matter of untrained men trying to carry out a system of justice that is, to say the least, very difficult to uphold in a kind, Christian manner.
One note: A seven-day waiting period must elapse before a DF is announced, whether the person indicates a desire to appeal or not. Even if it does appear that they will not, the JC must still wait seven days.
And again, you are to be commended for posting the facts, even if they may have been unflattering to you personally.

JUSTICE #15 - Parking Lot DFing
by Amazing inparking lot disfellowshipping .
[i have changed the sequence of the justice series.
i will post the other titles later.].

Amazing, you're really taking some heat on this one, and to a good degree it does look as if procedures were not followed, and I simply could not believe that the announcement was made without allowing a 7 day appeal period.
However, it takes courage to relate an account accurately, even if you look a little bad in the process. So thanks for the post, and it just goes to show that elders do indeed mess up at times.
Problem is, they never apologize for it.
