by Distracted injust wanted to break the ice and write my first post here and also talk about some things that are bothering me.
i don't go to meetings anymore and i have become inactive for years now.
i don't believe the witnesses have the truth more than any other organized religion.

The article you reference presents a compelling counterpoint to the Mormons and some journalists claims about the growth of Mormonism. Thanks for posting that slimboyfat! After all, who really knows the truth. Both Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormon religions were founded by men who were prone to great exaggeration and if you will, OUTRIGHT LYING.

Gee.......I guess I am still legally an Ordained Minister of the Watchtower Corporation. It says so right here on official stationary from the headquarters itself. Even though I have faded, no one of any ecclesiastical authority has made any attempt to 'defrock' me and remove my title.

The Society cares more about Mark Sanderson's stick of Judah than the elephant in the room
by truthseeker ini just watched the segment of mark anderson's, gb member, talking at the annual general meeting.. they care more about obscure prophecies than the child abuse crisis in the organization.. he talks about the two and ten tribe kingdoms of israel, the stick of joseph and stick of judah, and likens it to the anointed and great crowd.. what a bunch of craziness!.
this is the kind of crap spiritual food the drones get..

A paradox or a contradiction? Titus 1:12
by James Mixon inpaul quoted a cretan who said, "cretans are always liars".. ok, if this was said by a cretan and cretans always lie, then he.
too was lying, but if this cretan was lying when he said cretans always lie,.
then cretans do not always lie and there is a lie in the scripture.

This of course is nothing more than the Apostle Paul "quote mining" in order to prove his own bias and to 'glorify' Jehovah's name and to push his own brand of religion. Exactly what the Watchtower Society does today when it cherry picks 'quotes' of scientists and scholars that seem to support the Societies own viewpoint. This quote is taken from a poem by Epimenides (See Wikipedia for a fuller biography) who wrote in defense of his god Zeus:
"They fashioned a tomb for thee, O holy and high one
The Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies!
But thou art not dead: thou livest and abidest forever,
For in thee we live and move and have our being."
The Apostle Paul was quoting from a religious poem that glorified Zeus and was putting down the Cretans for not believing in him. Probably not a very good source of evidence for the 'Christian' Apostle Paul to use in describing the character and state of honesty of every person in Crete.
