Khaleesi.........by the mid '70's the 'white Bethel boys' could have a moustache and sideburns to the bottom of our earlobes neatly trimmed. In fact, I had sideburns down to the bottom of my earlobes and Lon Schilling (The assistant Farm Overseer and now highly placed) had fairly bushy sideburns down to the bottom of his earlobes too! I never grew a moustache until I left Bethel and have had one for 39 years.

Why it's a waste of time talking to JW's
by Phizzy ini believe it to be a waste of time talking to, reasoning with, jw's if you expect any kind of quick result.. many of us when we first wake up think that 'coz ttatt is blindingly obvious to us, it will soon get through to our jw loved ones.. this simply isn't so for a couple of important reasons.
the first is that, if someone believes something is true, or the truth, to them it really is, without doubt, true.
so whatever you say must be wrong somehow.. the second problem is that jw's simply do not have to use, or pay any attention to facts and logic.

Look at the SHAMELESS self promotion of the GOVERNING BODY (tm) !!! Rude, tasteless and tacky! JW.org printed on the back of what seems to be Prince's memorial program. All I can say is these men on the GOVERNING BODY(tm) have NO CLASS and no manners. (This is my last posting in reference to Prince and his memorial. I'm making myself physically sick each time I post about this.)

Here is a LITMUS TEST for allowing Prince to have a Jehovah's Witness funeral as a member in good standing:
Would this album by PRINCE, released in the year 2014, entitled ART OFFICIAL AGE be allowed to be in the possession of a current Bethelite according to GOVERNING BODY(tm) standards as to what music is allowed at the 'House of God'? The cover with it's 'mystical third eye' on Prince and his suggestive lyrics contained within would render this music UNACCEPTABLE at Bethel. Yet Prince gets a funeral as a Witness in good standing.

Jehovah's Witnesses and the high rate of 'mood altering drugs' usage within the congregation......................from Bethelites on down to the lowliest of publishers. That is just one of the many 'elephants in the room' that the GOVERNING BODY (tm) is ill equipped to handle or even admit to.

Yes Millie210 you have hit the 'nail on the head,' especially in regards to Jehovah's Witnesses and the use of 'mood altering' drugs. If you choose to smoke marijuana on your own to ease your anxiety, you will be disfellowshipped as a 'drug abuser' but if you receive your drugs from a Medical Doctor, you will be receiving 'medical treatment' for your 'medical condition' and it will be judged as a 'personal matter'. It never ceases to amaze me that an Elder that is taking anti-depressants, Xanax and drinks like a fish can in 'good conscience' disfellowship someone for smoking cigarettes or marijuana.
