The con is completed - comments from the US branch's LDC chief
by sir82 inrecently attended a special assembly day.. guest speaker was thomas chicky, a member of the us branch committee and the head of the us ldc (which has replaced the rbcs).. the last talk of the day is scheduled for an hour.
it was the usual boring mumbo-jumbo.
he appeared to have blasted through his hour-long outline in just about 45 minutes, so he "treated" us to informal comments on recent developments.. he commented on the new wt complex in fishkill ny.. then he dropped the bomb (well, to anyone with ears and at least 2 functioning synapses).. the following is not a word for quote, but presents the gist of his comments:.

JW eBay Feedback Comment "Time Is Running Out!"
by pale.emperor inso i did a huge book clearout before i moved house a few weeks ago.
among the books for sale were some watchtower books that had become obsolete, old light or had since been "clarified" by the society.
so i thought they'd be wanted by ex-jw's or active apostates for their research.. unfortunately, it looks like an active jw is so brainwashed that they not only bought the "old light" version of gods kingdom rules but they even suggested that i read it because "time is running out".

Typical Jehovah's Witness self satisfied, myopic, subjective opinion masquerading as fact!
"Excellent book" :subjective opinion; others may find it to be trash and worthless.
"Should have read it yourself": subjective opinion; unless you directly stated that you have never read the publication the person is actually making an untrue accusation.
"Time is running out": subjective opinion; what time is running out and for whom? Where is the objective evidence and what is the criteria for the statement that 'time is running out'?
The average Jehovah's Witness is absolutely, positively convinced that they each have the unequivocal truth about life and the future. Then when their Governing Body makes a complete 180 degree turn on dogma and articles of faith, they still cling to the indefensible stance that they alone have the market cornered on 'truth'. A sad commentary on the human condition, indeed.

The Great Crowd!
by A Believer innotice the 144000 can be counted and they all come from israel.. 9 after this i saw, and look!
a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues,*+ standing before the throne and before the lamb, dressed in white robes;+ and there were palm branches in their hands.+ .
this great crowd, no man was able to number, and they come from every nation!

I refuse to participate in any thread involving A Believer again.
He or she lives in a "reality distortion field" and is not here to discuss anything with an open mind. He or she is here to "preach the Watchtower Gospel" to all the 'heathens' that will take the bait. However, much like an accident on the highway, I just can't look away. For me, it is free entertainment to watch A Believer engage with many of the posters here and still not learn ANYTHING nor capitulate when presented with indisputable facts.

Despite their false predictions aren't the JWs right? Won't the world eventually end & Paradise come?
by deegee inaren't there christian denominations who do not make false end of the world predictions but who nevertheless believe that the world will eventually end and paradise (whether in heaven or on earth) will come?.
it seems the watchtower was just jumping the gun when they made false end of the world predictions but they are nevertheless the right: the world will eventually end and paradise will come..

I believe that this 'songbook' was the precursor to the "Songs to Jehovah's Praise" . This was before my time. Are there any old timers or Watchtower historians posting here that could tell us what sort of 'musical insanity' was contained between its covers?

James, I can't tell you exactly the year of publication. It was the songbook that was used when I was a child and I am 61 years old. As a little boy in the late 1950's I remember singing from this version all the way through into the 1960's. An old anointed sister used to 'pound out' the songs on an old upright piano!
edit: With a search on Google, I have found that the songbook was printed in 1950. There is a fellow on YouTube, Davey7373 and he has some of the songs being played on an organ. It might be worth it for you to take a look at his channel. Best wishes!

devil question
by Carol1111 ini had a discussion with 4 jws today and they told me that jesus could not be tempted, ( they say that he would not be perfect if he could) but also they told me that satan tempted jesus in the wilderness.. can anyone clarify their beliefs please.
i like to give them a reasoned argument when i talk to them, but have never noticed this conflict of ideas before..

Yes Desirous Of Change, I couldn't agree more. That thought reminds me of the Talosians in the original Star Trek pilot episode.

Update to: As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Sail Away ini just had a two-hour doctor's appointment (treatment for branch retinal vein occlusion) that requires screenings, scans, dilation, anesthetic and injection, etc.
this makes it necessary to spend a lot of time in the waiting room..
my former p.o., book study conductor and later field service overseer was there and greeted me in a friendly way.

Wow.........that's great Sail Away that he showed you his 'real face'. So many Witnesses are like a Totem Pole; they have a different face for everyone and every circumstance. Perhaps your genuine 'lightness' will attract him away from the 'false light' known as Jehovah's Witnesses.
