Just a side comment (since I haven't been to a Watchtower Study (tm) in years). It looks as if everyone on the Governing Body is reading from a printed version of the Bible accept for Mark Sanderson. Perhaps as the youngest member, he is 'taking the lead' in moving Jehovah's chariot (tm) forward in the use of 'electronic media'?

How much time and money did we waste traveling to meetings alone?
by longgone inquick answer: way too much!.
this is something that really gets to me, all the way back to my childhood.
twenty minutes each way, three times a week.

I just checked MapQuest. The rural congregation that my family attended when I was a teenager was a 43 minute drive from our home. (one way) The book study was local , so we only made the trek to the Kingdom Hall twice a week for meetings.

I'll give these 'old boys' a little credit. At least they weren't self aggrandizing attention whores to the degree of the current crop of Governing Body members.

Would This Be Adultery?
by FedUpJW ini just happened to read a news article from some months ago about doctors having performed a successful penis transplant.
the recipient lost his due to cancer, and doctors expect him to gain full use of his "new" penis, including sexual activities.
considering some of the more goofy interpretations of doctrine that the gooberning body trots out that the rank and file must obey under penalty of shunning i wonder if a man had this surgery, would he and or his wife be df'd for adultery?

The Circuit Overseer would probably need to set up a 'special' committee to investigate this matter. The first thing that would need to be determined is whether or not the transplanted penis was 'whole' or just a 'fraction' of a penis. As far as I understand current teachings, transplanted whole penises are a disfellowshipping offense but penis fractions are a conscience matter. Once that matter was established, then it would have to be determined if the old penis now transplanted onto the brother in question was used in harmony with Jehovah's arrangement. Any misuse of the old penis by the former owner could come under the rubric of Fornication. So depending on whether or not the former owner confessed to loose conduct, fornication or adultery and did or did not repent of his sins..........the whole matter could become a very sticky situation, best sorted out by the more spiritual and experienced Elders in the Circuit. Probably, the special committee would say that it was Adultery and disfellowship the wife. Thereby leaving the brother (who was probably also an Elder himself) scripturally free to remarry a younger more attractive pioneer sister and enter the Circuit work himself.

Would You EVER Go Back To Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ini could never understand why some people who know the truth about the "truth" ever go back.
once you understand all the hypocrisy and negatives, i would think it's almost impossible to go back!.

Aid To Bible Understanding - JW GoneBad
You may be on to something. The original 1969 version of 544 pages had a first edition printing of only 250,000. It only covered the subjects of Aaron through Exodus.

Behind Closed Doors
by dubstepped inbehind closed doors my dad, an elder, was so emotionally abusive that as a child i once got out of bed to get a knife from the kitchen so i could stop the abuse once and for all.
i cried, and didn't go through with it.. behind closed doors, my next door neighbors, the family that "brought us into the truth" was yelling and screaming constantly.
he hit her once while we kids played out back.

Hanging out with JWs is exhausting!
by StephaneLaliberte innot long ago, there was a funeral for a sister i haven’t know very much, so i did not attend.
however, some old “friends” i know drove down to town to assist and i ended up spending some time with them.
quite honestly, i was happy to see them again.

Yes it certainly is emotionally difficult to carry on a conversation with many Jehovah's Witnesses. You never really know which 'face' you are talking to.

UC Berkeley orders cancellation of Ann Coulter speech
by freemindfade inuc berkeley administrators canceled a scheduled speech by right-wing pundit ann coulter, saying they can’t protect participants from rioting if it goes ahead.
http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/uc-berkeley-orders-cancellation-of-ann-coulter-11084299.php.
now i am no ann coulter fan (although the sjw police on here will accuse me of being a fan shortly after posting this), but i am a fan of free speech!
