here's the short article found in the "did you know?

Thank you for your kind and understanding comment, LongHairGal.Something I noticed right away as a Bethelite in the '70s was the number of old timers that were unmarried and bitter. These were men in their 60's and older that now had no place to go other than to stay at Bethel but had given their lives over to so many lies and promises. They were stuck in a system that promised them Armageddon any day now going back into the 1920's. Yet, they never were able to lead truly fulfilling lives because they swallowed the poison created by fools like Russell, Rutherford, Knorr and now our current crop of 'ruling jackasses'. This religion sticks it's nose in a lot of places that it does not belong. It is a highly controlling and paternalistic system that does MORE harm than good.

Reaction of Governing Body Belies More than their Accusation
by carefullyread ina disfellowshiped brother wrote a letter of disquisition to the governing body of wbts a little while ago.
it was not in any way nasty, derogatory, rude, blasphemous, or with profanity but it was civil, truthful, & very informative that some have described as extremely truthful to enlightening, an ebullient disclosure.
i got to see some paraphrases extracted from it that have been circulating quietly or rather secretly passed around & i agree with the latter description.. the governing body was greatly perturbed, alarmed, to confused with this letter particularly as they became aware several of the congregation were also sent copies which some of the local congregational elders raised controversial questions about but mainly was dismissed by them without reading, to scoffing & ridicule but some also saw something more truthful to concern them.

Sir82.........you are 100% correct! The only way around this would be to have an 'inside man' at Warwick. Then the 'inside man' could mail letters directly to each individual Governing Body (tm) member thru the Bethel mail system. You would have to know which building that the Governing Body (tm) member lived in and what his room number was in order to have him receive the letter personally. Otherwise, there are too many stopgaps and firewalls in place for the Governing Body (tm) to receive correspondence from outside individuals.

The no marriage - no children mindset played very well with my unbalanced, fanatical 'dyed in the wool' Jehovah's Witnesses mother. One of her favorite ways to 'mind f*ck' her children was to say, "You don't want to get married until after Armageddon, DO YOU?". Such mental, emotional and spiritual abuse never turns out for the good. My oldest sister (among others in my family) fell for this mind control. She is 71 years old and has never married or had children. And she wants nothing to do with the Watchtower Society ever again.

Where did Jesus plug in the blow dryer?

No blow dryer necessary. Any time Jesus needed to dry his hair, his own personal 'holy spirit dove stylist' would flap its wings and dry Jesus' hair on cue!

Just a side comment (since I haven't been to a Watchtower Study (tm) in years). It looks as if everyone on the Governing Body is reading from a printed version of the Bible accept for Mark Sanderson. Perhaps as the youngest member, he is 'taking the lead' in moving Jehovah's chariot (tm) forward in the use of 'electronic media'?

How much time and money did we waste traveling to meetings alone?
by longgone inquick answer: way too much!.
this is something that really gets to me, all the way back to my childhood.
twenty minutes each way, three times a week.

I just checked MapQuest. The rural congregation that my family attended when I was a teenager was a 43 minute drive from our home. (one way) The book study was local , so we only made the trek to the Kingdom Hall twice a week for meetings.

I'll give these 'old boys' a little credit. At least they weren't self aggrandizing attention whores to the degree of the current crop of Governing Body members.
