a top jehovah's witnesses' world leader has bemoaned politicians' failure to fulfill campaign promises.. stephen lett, who gave a keynote speech at the on-going convention held at levy mwanawasa stadium in ndola, said politicians needed to meet the aspirations of people who vote them into public offices.. meanwhile, conversion overseer john mashilipa has urged fellow witnesses to respect the government of the day, obedient and continue remaining non-partisan.. in the keynote address streamed live from solwezi district in the north-western province, mr lett, one of the seven members of the world governing body said electorates expected much from the people they vote for.. "there is need for politicians to fulfill their promises to their voters once they assumed power," he said.. he observed that most politicians failed to fulfill promises to their voters who had high expectations.. "politicians usually promise a moon and not deliver to their promises, this is disappointing to the voters who have high expectations," he said.. mr mashilipa said believers needed to seek god's kingdom which he said never fails, unlike human governance.. this year's conversion attracted a historic attendance of more than 40,000 people from across the five districts in the province namely; ndola, kitwe, luanshya, mufulira, kalushi and chambishi.. gathered under the theme 'keep seeking first god's kingdom', witnesses filled the stadium and those who could not find seats monitored proceedings from outside.

Now this is a strange dichotomy!!!!
Political leaders are voted in by their electorate whom they rule over.
If they screw up and renege on their campaign rhetoric they are voted out of office.
The Governing Body individually are religious-political-corporate leaders that are voted in by the existing members of that body.
If they renege on and constantly change their rhetoric there isn't a DAMN thing that the people that they rule over can do about it.
Sounds like a nice gig to me if you can get in on it!

To be fair I will use myself as an example:
Over 35 years ago I was a Ministerial Servant. Before my fade I TURNED DOWN being considered for Elder but I bring this up for a reason. During this period of time I swore like a pirate, drove a motorcycle and never had a license, did things with my Witness girlfriend that are now considered immoral and a disfellowshipping offence, read pornography and sometimes got drunk. During these shenanigans the Holy Spirit kept me in my position and wanted to move me up a notch to the position of Elder. Are many Witnesses two faced, hypocritical, and leading double lives? I answer with my own life as evidence that this is indeed true.

Yes jam there are a high number of Witnesses with 'mental' and 'emotional' issues. Again, in the congregation that I used to attend, there are eight Elders. Four of the eight are on anti-depressants, one of the four is also taking Valium for his nerves and one of the four 'drinks like a fish.' How do I know? Two of the four are part of my 'extended family', one of the four is part of the first two's extended family (sorry to sound so confusing but we are not directly related) and the fourth Elder told me on a shepherding call to me that he will have to be on anti-depressants for the rest of his life because he has a 'chemical imbalance'. Doesn't sound like a happy and balanced bunch of people to me!
