Do YOU Still Act Like A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus insome habits are hard to break.
many of us were raised as jws and when people try to 'put you down', they might say something like, "you're still acting like a witness".
i wonder whether or not we sometimes do exhibit witness "traits".

At first I thought that I was no different than when I was a dub. But over the course of 4 years I have definitely changed. Not big things but I play the lotto, watch any film I want, I swear, I celebrate xmas (couldn't do that for the first couple of years), I vote and participate in all the worldly holidays. I also have all worldly friends! Tutt tutt!

Moving House - why so darned expensive!
by Crumpet inas you may already know mr c and i are parting company and i am on the search for somewhere to live.
last night i saw two dirty, grubby pokey and depressing little rooms, about 8 foot by 9 foot, which i could just about afford at 450 a month (thats about $900 to you yanks)!
this is not in london but about 30 minutes by train from london.

Hi Crumpet, I was wondering if you could approach this from a different angle. What is your current job? It doesn't sound like it's very well paid, so perhaps you could have a chat with your employer and explain your financial situation. I know someone who did just this and got a 3k pay rise. Or maybe look around for a new job that is better paid.
Just a thought. I know it's easier said than done. XXX -

The story of Tom
by iamfreenow intom was a friend of mine, a very good friend.
he lived in a village on the outskirts of our territory, and was in his 60's and retired when he became a jw.
tom studied with my husband ron, often accompanied by me.

Let's face facts Marion, the vast majority of jw's are lovely people and we all have known characters such as Tom. All the faults are with the organisation not with the members. It's not their fault they're mislead!
We on this forum were once or still are part of that group, and I'd like to think that we're an ok bunch.
Let's raise a glass to all those ones and hope they will be free of the org one day just as we all are.
