Which is greater, your time IN, or your time OUT?
by gaiagirl inspecifically, were you an active jw longer than you have been inactive or out of the organization, whichever applies?
i was active for about 15 years, then faded into inactivity, although never df'd or da'd.
time out hasn't yet caught up with time in, but time out is gaining.

Why did you choose the Alias that you did?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #663399; } .style2 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;} .style7 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #353185; } .style8 {color: #353185} --> why did you choose the alias that you did?
being curious about why people do or act the way they.
do led me to this discussion.

If you know any cockney rhyming slang, you'll know that Bubble and Squeak = Greek.
Since I am Greek Cypriot, I am also a 'Bubble' which is what the phrase is usually shortened to. -

family disowning you!!
by awol inafter 8 yrs not being a jw (not dfd just left)... my b.i.l has decided for the good of his family that they are not to associate with me!
my sis was like my best friend, and now .... after they had marital difficulties (which he knows only the half of, cos she has kept her mouth shut) he has now become a mini man!!
he has told my sis and my beautiful nieces and nephews that they cannot associate or speak to me at all.

Welcome Awol. This is an awful situation you're in. I hope your sister makes a stand against this horrible man and leaves him. I think if she meets the right person and falls in love, that will be her get out from the marriage and the religion. Sounds like this could be a strong possibility considering her 2 'misdemeanours'.

Richard Hammond by Jeremy Clarkson
by Simon ini was sent this ... apparently it's from jeremy clarksons newspaper column after his co-host on top gear, richard hammond, was badly injured in a 300 mph + crash .... .
september 23, 2006. in the wee small hours of thursday night, just 30 hours after what is almost certainly the worlds fastest ever car crash, richard hammond suddenly sat up in bed, opened his eyes and asked what had happened.
youve been in a car accident, i said.

As usual Clarkson is spot on. I absolutely love Top Gear and would be devastated if it was taken off air.
Long live the petrol heads. -

Some jw's are so self centred. They really don't care about anything not connected with their precious religion.
Urrrgggg! This story made me so angry and so sorry for your son. -

New to JW's and need to ask some questions....
by missk_ensington ini'm a new poster as well as being new to jw's (currently having bible studies) and i have been researching the religion to make sure i go into it fully understanding what it is about, and what implications it would have on my life.
i am 20, a single parent with a child and although i was brought up being told 'the truth' by my mum, only have early memroes of attending kh.
they are now trying to suck me back in but i have grave reservations and would lke everyone's opinion/view/advice.

Hi Missk and welcome. I just have one piece of advice for you - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
Please don't get involved with the jw cult, you will regret it, and getting out is far harder than getting in. -

Divorce Rate of Those When Young??
by buffalosrfree inmy daughters were at a club the other evening ( saturday) and ran into 5 witnesses they knew as younger children, they had all been married and were in the process of getting divorced.
four were men, 1 woman, two of the men we had known literally for years and i had liked them all.
i had told my children when they got married that it wouldn't be long before they were married.

I married at age 20 after 11 months of dating. Obviously I was desperate for sex, and as soon as the novelty of that had worn off, about 2 years, I knew the marriage was over.
Being a good jw, I couldn't just leave, so I had 2 children and tried to take my mind off my problems. It didn't work. I got divorced after 16 years of marriage, 14 of which were unhappy!
Marrying too young really doesn't work, except in special cases, which tend to be the exception not the rule. -

I don't have enough hours in the day to exercise, but I sprinkled cinnamon on my porridge this morning. I'm expecting a huge weight loss!

I used to love Rhoda. In the UK we haven't even had reruns of that show for years. Boohoo.
