just wanted to share a little story about christmas at our house.
this morning santa came and the girls were so exited!!
my 4yr old opens her gift and realizes its exactly what she asked santa for.
Oh my god, I had a baby alive doll. I didn't know they still made them!!
I used to feed mine the special food provided, it came in 3 colours, white, yellow and pink. So it never really looked like poo when you changed the nappy (daiper).
Just brought back fond memories though, I loved that doll.
i'm sure this will vary between jw to jw, but their choices are:.
1) they won't watch/read either.. 2) they will only allow lotr, not hp.. 3) they will only allow hp, not lotr.. 4) they will allow both.. in my experience, 3 never happens and 2 happens the most.
with the similar theme of magic, the occult, fantasy and monsters, i wonder what lets them think one is okay and the other is not.
My mum who is a v.strict jw absolutely loves HP and reads all the books and goes to see the film as soon as it comes out.
She is not in the least bit interested in LOTR.
I think if you play by their rules, neither are allowed.

this is a real dread for me as i hate grocery shopping at the best of times.. considering xmas day is on sunday and all the shops here are shut on xmas eve (saturday) and the veggies will be the same stuff today as tomorrow, im wondering if its too early to go today and get it over and done with................but..............it seems a long time to have veg in the fridge.. decisions , decisions................ .
Went shopping at 6am this morning, it was dark and foggy! Spent an absolute fortune.

Hi Vitty, I hope you remember from a previous thread how much I love shopping!!!
I will be setting my alarm for 5:45am tomorrow morning and will get down to my local 24 hour Tesco's and relish in the biggest food shop of the year. I am catering for 12 on xmas eve (Sunday) and just me, hubby and kids on xmas day (monday) and me, hubby and two friends on boxing day (tuesday).
OOOh I love to shop!

i have asked these jw about where they got the term "family day" was it from the watchtower?
they seem to deny the watchtower had ever mentioned "family day", but i can sense they are trying to hide something here.
Whoops, hit enter by mistake. We had 'present' day which we celebrated on our wedding anniversary in June. It made us feel less guilty about denying our kids a christmas celebration!
