Halloween isn't as big a thing in the UK as it is in the US. But I will have plenty of treats for the kids that come knocking. I did that last year for the first time and it was a joy to see how much fun the kids were having.

Who's giving out candy this Halloween?
by Cognitive_Dissident inyeah, so this year, for the first time ever, ever, ever, my roommates and i are having a halloween party, and there will be much candy given out to the small army of children on our block who will no doubt be trick or treating.
i'm really looking forward to it.
has anyone ever thought of getting all costumed up on halloween and then hitting all of the elder's houses?

Should I DA myself or not?
by Mrs Smith inthis is my first post, some of you have read my hubby's story - agent smith - anyway i was just wondering if i should write a letter to disassociate myself or just leave things as they are.
i have not been to meetings for about 8yrs but have only just come to realize what a load of rubbish the jw's teach.
now that i have read "crisis of conscience" i have no doubt that jw's are corrupt.

Yeah just leave things be. At least you still have a relationship with your family that way.

Yes tragic news. So young!
My thoughts are with his wife and family. He leaves a baby daughter too. Poor little girl will never really know her daddy. -

Did u want to leave the org bcause u were doing something immoral?
by Will2Power in..and then sought to justify your leaving the organisation/religion by researching websites like this (to salve your conscience, justify continuing in your pleasurable but unscriptural lifestyle), or did you sincerely leave purely because you discovered certain false teachings, scandals, etc, while still living a moral, christian lifestyle?
be honest now, i mean really honest.
(this is not meant to offend anyone but viewed like a survey).

I left due to immorality, but did think at some point I might go back for the sake of my family.
After much research I decided to never ever go back because the whole cult is a sham and full of lies.
Thank god for the immorality, it was my ticket out!! -

Memorial 2004.
We were collared by an elder as we left, asking if we wanted to come back to the org.
HELL NO! That's what we thought, but what we actually said was 'we'll think about it'. -

Meetings are BORING!
by 5thGeneration inwhy do the brothers take such offense when someone says that the meetings are boring?.
i can't possibly fathom how people who have been going to the meetings for decades can sit at the kh and listen, for example, to yesterday's wt study for an hour about adam and eve, cain and abel, how we are all allowed to pray, blah, blah, blah... and not be bored out of their minds!.

Not only were the meetings mind numbingly boring, but for some reason time used to stand still at them!
2 hours seemed to last forever. What's all that about? -

You are no longer an unbaptised publisher because you are inactive. If you were never baptised then you can't be df'd or da'd.
Since you are not an active witness you can't call yourself a jw (not by their rules anyway).
Just be content with being a good christian, you don't need the title of being a jw.
I think everyone on this forum felt stifled by the rules, that's why we all left! -

I saw a beautiful thing yesterday --- a gift from God
by jgnat inyesterday i saw a couple i hadn't seen for many years sitting together on the bus.
i'd always wondered if they had managed to stay together.
they looked the same, save a few more dry wrinkles, as they did twenty years ago.

Aaaahhhh! Lovely story, but heartbreaking that they ended up with no baby. All a child really needs is love, not material things.

What are your reasons for posting here?
by sonnyboy ini'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.
lol.
little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.

I post here because it is great to share thoughts with like minded people. I have learnt so much about the WBTS since reading the posts on this forum, it has really reinforced my determination to never go back, much as my family would like me to.

I like that.
What I want to know is, if I can live peacefully with persons of other faiths, why can't everyone?
That's what really frustrates me about the human race, and it's all down to ignorance!!
