The ONE 'sin' I NEVER heard of in all my time as a JW . . . . .
by nicolaou ini never heard of any sister having an abortion - doesn't mean it didn't happen, just that i never heard of one.. i've personally known child abusers, closet gays, drunks and thieves all within my time at just 2 congregations.
i know one brother who hid the fact he had blood transfusions at a critical time.
now i'm certainly not lumping in an abortion with acts of abuse or dishonesty, and for the record i don't consider it a 'sin' (whatever that is).

Hi Nic, my best friend had an abortion, she was about 18 at the time. The elders found out and disassociated her even though she wasn't baptized!!!

Myself and Hubby (Southafricanbeef) live in Essex, so not far from you really. A whole group of us from the board met up on Wednesday just gone, at Wagamama's in Covent Garden. Shame you couldn't have come to that and met us all, it was a blast!! Watch out on the board for London meet ups, they do occur occasionally.

How Do We Help JWs Who Come To This Site?
by minimus inwhen a witness checks this site out, they could think it's a jehovah's witness friendly site.
the fact is this site is for anyone interested in jehovah's witness things, whether they are still witnesses or once were or just want to know about witness life.. what positive ways can we help a witness on this site?.

I know my sister has looked in to this forum (she's an avid JW), and she thought it was full of people slagging off the 'Truth'. It's a shame she didn't look further into the interesting debates on doctrine, and perhaps some of the moving personal experiences.
I think JW's see what they want to see when they look in here. If you are looking for a way out, you'll find it here. If you're looking for posts whinging about the religion, you'll find it here.
I personally was df'd, then started looking here. Was very mild with my comments at first, then got more involved in the meaty discussions, and now 7 years on, I just look in occasionally. This forum is whatever you need/want it to be.

Thanks for prompt writing of part 7 Paul. It was as compelling and as well written as the previous 6 parts. I think it would be a good idea if others on the board could write their stories too, very therapeutic I think, not just for the writer but for the readers too. Well done. XXX

JW diseases
by highdose inon the subject of health matters i was mentaly listing all the comman illnesses that the dubs lay claim to, most of the time this is self diagnosed and with no imput from a dr. in fact the comman story is that "the drs won't belive me!".
a large number of jw's i knew went and got tested for allergies, this was the big thing for years.
every single one of them turned out to be allgeric to the same stuff ( wheat, dairy, sugar) ... i should point out that they all went to the one "dr" for this, the "dr" in question had never had any medical training and had done only a basic course.

I think anything vague that can get you out of going to meetings or on field service, was highly prevelant when I was a witness. ME was the big one as far as my cong was concerned. Not a real illness!!!! Just a get out clause for laziness, or for those who secretly don't want to be a JW any more!!!
