Hey, I was un-shunned too today. I had to inspect a local contractor's electrical instalation and it turns out to be one of the elders who gladly accepted my DA letter back in May. I am on the planning commision as well as the BZA for our township. He talked to me for almost 30 mins. He wanted me to know his opposition to an ethanol plant being built in his nieghborhood. It will effect his quality of life. By the way, all his employees stopped work and joined in the discussion. They are all dubs too. I am of value now that he needs my vote.

Today I was un-shunned.....
by AK - Jeff innot typical of my sil to do more than just a casual greeting and look nervous when i run across her somewhere.
last time i met her in public at a restuarant she tried to weave across the room and hope i did not see her [fear of eating with an apostate i suppose.].
today the opposite - i came in to the restuarant and she was there, seated alone.

Ever wonder if an old friend turned apostate?
by beautifulisfree ini often wonder if my old witness friends from my past are still in the 'truth' (god i hope not)?
i know this site is pretty popular amongst ex-witnesses.
and since most of us have 'fake names'...we could be talking to someone that we already know.

What's Your Favorite Brand of Beer?
by tfsm ini know this is slightly off-topic but i find alot of the discussion here somewhat depressing and most of it is far too cerebral for me.
i (obviously) live in america and i'm a big fan of beer.
light, dark, lager, ale, whatever.

Did the elders ever blackmail you with dead loved ones?
by Fleshybirdfodder inthis is kind of a sensitive subject for me, but i had to get it off my chest.
when i was eighteen my father died suddenly of a heart attack, and i started drifting from depression.
i wasn't doing anything wrong, i was just in shock and started really questioning my beliefs.

Candid, we have a new life with true friends. But being raised in wally world, I have lost my entire family. My friends don't understand how a religion could act that way. They really can't believe parents would treat thier own son with such cold, cold hearts. They even say its not worth the pain and that I should go back to make them happy. I told them if that was what I had to do, I would rather die right now.

My 16 yr. old son was killed 5 yrs. ago. My 18 yr. old son was permanently disabled in the accident. After years of rehab he is able to walk with a brace on his leg but has no use of his left arm. The pain of lose of a son, the struggle of caring for a disabled son took its toll on my marriage and my belief. I was told to do more in the service, that would encourage me. I ask for help in care and transporting my son. Everyone has there problems to bare, just trust in Jo. After a year I was told its been long enough, get over it. I just quit going to any meetings 2 1/2 yrs ago and not one elder or any 'friends' came to see me or my son. Not until they found out I had a few Christmas lights in 2004. Then they started the blackmail of you will never see your dead son again and you are killing your other son by not bringing him to the 'hell'. My parents just returned from thier winter home recently and learned of my DA. My mother stood 2 feet from me talking to my fiance telling her that I will never see my dead son again and that I am also dead. My fiance was crying and said that I am not dead, I'm standing right there. My mom said no, he is dead, he killed him self. Then my disabled son came limping out of the house to greet his grandma, and she ran to him and said,oh I can talk to you Kyle, you're not dead yet. Sick...sick... sick!!!!

I did get an invite last night from my little brother. He was called by my mother who is still in AZ to encourage my son and I to go with him. I told him thanks but I don't see the point in supporting thier BS celebration. He then tells me he agrees but he is trying to stay under thier radar. He also told me he hasn't been to a meeting in a year and a half. No one has called to bug him. Lucky him. We only live about 20 min apart and 15 min. from a choice of three different congos. We never got invites from any bro. or sis. Oh I did get a registered letter from a JC for a meeting arranged just for me Sun. at 1:30. Can,t make it, made plans to go golfing with little brother.

I remember an elder who always smelled really bad. It wasn't BO,but nobody would tell him he stunk. My parents invited him to our home one evening along with a small group from the hall. My dad couldn't stand it anymore so he told this guy he smells. The elder goes on to tell how he doesn't use any soaps, shampoo,or deoderant. No shit! Then he goes on to tell everyone how he soaks his feet in his own urine. That was the smell, just like in grade school when one of the boys pissed on the radiator in the bathroom.

I went last year. Hadn't been to a meeting in over a year. My divorce wasn't final yet and my two sons were living with me. I invited a lady friend to go with us. She sat with us and observed in total boredom. All the 'old friends' pretty much ignored my sons and I, because the ex had spread all her propaganda about how I was the bad guy. She no longer attended there because the elders had counciled her about bringing dissension to the cong. Anyway the friends swarmed my lady friend, new meat. They 'so happy she could attend a most sacared event'. She saw right through thier phonny bs. Two days later I get a nasty phone call from the ex, how dare I bring some whore to the KH. An elders wife called to tell her the juicy news. I never heard a word from that congo since. (I grew up in that cong since 1960.) They just sent my records to a different cong at my ex's request without ever talking to me. I guess that washes thier hands clean of any shepherding responsabilities. No plans on going this year, I'm busy preparing my DA letter for 4-15.

Hello friends, just to let you know things are fine. The linch mob backed off for now. My son was so pissed off that they were coming to hang me after all this time, that he wanted to join the board too. So he did as mick_mc. If you can give him some encouragment and insight, please do so. There is so much more to this situation I would like to share and I will soon. I did talk to my lawyer today. Good news, the ex agreed to settle assets. We both look forward to our new found freedom and friends.
