Hypothetical situation: What would you do?

lets just say that the jw teaching regarding armageddon, living forever were true.. and lets say that many on this forum who still attend meetings somehow survive.. you don't agree with the teachings.

you may not even like many others who survive.

why would you want to live with the kind of people who continually judge others actions?

Let's consider this concept - the concept that God is Love and that to our human frailty we cannot comprehend what that means and thus ALL people who are good in their hearts and souls survive (including non-jws). Now if I were a jw, I might be pissed that I lived a narrow minded, black and white, right or wrong type of life, and yet others that I condemned to death did not in fact die. Or how about maybe I survived long enough for God to say to me, "who are you to judge those whom I allowed to survive, like in the Israelites time, when I allowed others to make it thru even though they did not go thru all the hardships and plagues like God's people did and because of your hatred (as opposed to love) for ALL of mankind, I condemn you to death" ... you see jws speculate as to what will happen after the resurrection, so no one knows what God will ultimately do, now do they

Why would you want to live with the kind of people who continually judge others actions? Who are in no way flexible to the opinions of 'outsiders'? Why would you want to live a way of life that is rigid in rules and regulations, ones that you know are not right?

How can I throw stones at others and condemn them for judging, if I am judging them. Your argument is flawed because based on your theory, 1) their god Jehovah would know that there were ones who were only faking it and thus, they would not make it in 2) if their god Jehovah let the fakers in, would he certainly not let others in as well, those who are good and true (as much as imperfect humans can be) 3) that their perfect new world would be the same as the current imperfect world that they live in, with just fewer people, not much of a paradise if you ask me; and 4) if God is Love, would not this whole concept go up in flames the idea of killing people just cause they are not jws.

I do not agree w/ the jw concept. But for argument's sake, if they were right and I made it thru, I guess I would say ME BAD and move on, but truthfully I do not see anything they claim will happen in the future actually happening, so I am not worried.

Swalker - you have to read the book. It is a tear jerker though. I read it on the bus and felt like a dope because of the crying that I was doing.

I have a GF who adopted a puppy from a shelter. They don't know the dog's background and my GF and her hubby think the dog is part lab, part hound. He has the biggest head and paws I have ever seen on a dog (that is not a Dane). She learned quickly not to lock him up, but to cage him because one day she locked him in the kitchen and he chewed the corner off her cupboards. It was a mess!

I love all animals. I grew up w/ dogs, but currently have cats cause they are lower maintenance. I live in the concrete jungle, so it would be mean to have a dog here because they would never see green grass.

I am lucky cause I am not allergic to anything. I have to say though that birds do creep me out. I have had a bad run w/ them. I would take care of my friend's birds and they were a wee bit frightening. They would peck at me when I would try and change their food/water and lining at the bottom of their cage. Reminded me too much of The Bird by Alfred Hitchcock.

My male cat is very active. He has the most amazing vertical jump. He loves his feather on a stick (friend of mine once said "if only our lives could be that simple, to be motivated by a feather on a stick, to think towards the end of the work day "I cannot wait to get home to my feather on a stick"). When I am playing with him and I hold it up really high, he does Michael Jordan style jumps to get it. When he gets the feather in his mouth, he will then drag it around the house, hitting things because it is so long, but he does not care, it is his catch and he loves it.

certainly no fair-minded person would deny that they had the privilege thus to do.

But I think they still claims this at least as of 15 years ago that was the case - here is the reason I say this:

Around 15 years ago I was engaged to a jw. I knew he had his doubts about stuff, but he kept them quiet until one day something happened, he snapped and at the hall he started saying stuff to the elders after a particular talk. They dragged him in the back and later had a JC to discuss his "concerns". Within a week he was DA'd, not DF'd. When I questioned the elders about this, they told me that he expressed his disbelief in certain things and thus he showed that HE did not want to be a JW anymore. When I specifically asked if he was DF'd because of questioning the WTBTS they said "NO". That HE DA'd himself. When I spoke w/ him, he said he never told them that he wanted to be DA'd, they told him by what he was saying that he was DA'ing himself.

To me speaking w/ the elders was like speaking w/ the forked tongued one! They create their own truth. Amazing how that works for them.

where we live is a very *new agey*, *earthy* area.

when i was a witness i never thought twice about my astrological sign or how it relates to anyone else.

here, people are always asking what my sign is and i've really been entertained by how i see patterns with people in my life and how i've noticed i'm actually attracted to certain *signs* .

A friend of mine had the birthday book, which you look up your time of birth also. It is pretty close to who I am and how I think. I also fit the year I was born (the year of the dog).

I have a tendency not to get along w/ leos. However, I have to say some of my most passionate relationships (as well as dysfunctional) have been w/ leos.

I really don't buy into the whole thing, but I do find it interesting still the same.

The Jehovah's Witness Cult Hires Illegal Immigrants

working in retail management is a never ending adventure.

you never know what is lurking around the next corner.

such was the case about six months ago when my boss asked me to stay over on a sunday night to watch the store while a floor cleaning crew did a strip and wax.. now with my self being a former jehovah's witness, i already knew that a great deal of the jw's owned and operated their own floor cleaning buisnesses, and there was a good chance that the floor crew on that sunday night would more than likely be a jw operation.. when the guys first walked in, i just had a feeling that my hunch was right.

I know illegal immigrants can be baptized as jws. How they can claim to obey the law and not require them to legalize themselves first is beyond me. So it would not surprise me if they hired illegal immigrants also.

Well coming from an area that had a lot of individuals who were not in the country under legal means, I was told that the reason the Spanish congo had a ton of guys but very little bros who could hold a position was because they were in the country illegally. According to the elder I was speaking w/, the congo would "encourage" the people who were in illegally to either legalize or leave. But of course that never happened.

Another interesting thing, the bit about paying under the table is not just for people who are here illegally. My GF who got rid of her loser JW hubby got a judgment in divorce court where he responsible for the bills he charged up. What does he do but go home to his inbred JW family members who see him as the victim and he works for one of his cousins who pays him under the table. He then files taxes saying that he makes nothing and in turn files BK saying he cannot pay for any of the credit he charged up. Even though the divorce degree had him as the sole person responsible for the bills, the credit card companies went after my GF and in the end she spent $$$$$$$$ because unfortunately the collection companies didn't give a rat's arse about the domestic relations divorce degree, so she had to fight them and she spent in legal fees what she would have spent in paying off his bills. And he got away with it all, even though we notified his hall and elders about what he was doing, they did not do a GD thing about it. The guy was allowed to have all his privileges. Then when my GF was getting remarried (long story as to how he found out, but it is a perfect example of six degrees of separation), he wrote the WTBTS and a letter to her elders and they threatened to DF her (it would not have mattered to her if her parents were not strong jws, but they are and she did not want to lose them) and it was not until her elder dad stepped in and was able to find some kind of loop hole that she did not get DF'd and her jw family members went to her wedding.

I so hate this religion!

the show is based on a book of some what short stories. the book is entitled "complications" and was written by a doc Atul Gawande. when abc was working on the the pilot they changed the name several times and "complications" was one of the working titles, until they came up w/ the main character whose name would be Grey which would be a play on one of the authoritative books in medicine (I suppose Rosen or Tintinalli's (sp?) was too plain or to complicated) Gray's Anatomy. complications is short book and quick read, you will recognize some of the first year stories from Grey's in the book. it is based on the doc's real life experiences as an intern.

Meredith will not die. I tend to agree w/ the earlier poster that says that someone else (maybe Ellis) will die. One of the lesser characters, like in Star Trek, you never wanted to be an "extra" on Star Trek cause that unusually meant you were going to die a fiery death. :0

Well since we have not heard any rumors about Ellen Pompeo leaving the show, my guess is that something else happens. Also, I agree totally w/ the whole under water too long thing. Granted they could say that it was t.v. and because they shot back and forth to various scenes that not that much time passed. Also, I am sure they will claim the whole cold water slowed everything down and thus slowed her systems down.

As for Izzy, I love the chick, but she is all about the drama of it all!
