C-span has been running the hearings about child pornography and the internet. It is amazing to hear the young man's story of how he got into being paid for exposing himself on-line to older men. If you can stomach listening to it, it is very telling in so many ways. It was also amazing to hear how this went on for so long without his mom knowing about it. It is frightening.

My cat is a freak!
by Scully inwe adopted an abandoned kitten almost a year ago.
at the time, she was just a little ball of fluff and my youngest found her caught in the hedge near the house.
she couldn't have been more than 5 weeks old at the time.. she's recently gotten into the habit of chewing plastic.

My kitty does not like to be held. She screams bloody murder if you pick her up. But she follows me from room to room and sits at my feet, like now. I can pet her all I want as long as I don't try to pick her up. She has always hated that. I live in a condo and there are times when I am getting off the elevator and I see my cat's paw sitting out from under the door jam - she has found something in the hall that she wants but she JUST CANNOT REACH IT. She has also been known to bat from under the door, the dog that lives down the hall that sticks his nose to the door when he goes by. Poor dog has gotten the worse of a cat w/ claws who is made that he is being nosey. She is a riot. People say that pet's are like their owners - I believe that - she is sweet but on her own terms.

What have you accidently dropped onto/into your keyboard?

i've dropped:breadcrumbs drops of spaghetti sauce on the keys.cokewaterjuiceoatmealsoft and runny egg yolk.
the worst was oatmeal although that was easier than the egg yolk to remove.

You mean to tell me, normal people don't get married at 17 or 18?
by free2beme inas a witness, most if not all of my friends were married by 18, with many woman married by 17. it was so normal, that when i left the religion and met all these people married in their 20's and later, that it seemed like they were starting late.
i actually was a late person in getting married, i was 23. i remember being one of the few people my age in the congregation, not married yet.
i actually remember thinking, where am i going to find someone to marry, that is not yet taken.

Yeah - think about the number of marriages that started at 18, how many are still in existence? I think the numbers are pretty low. I am sure there are others out there that are still together and in love, but how many?

Frog - he looks mad, did you just tell him to stop using your couch as a scratching post?
Gumby - the no tuna rule from my vet was because it can cause them to have some kind of organ problems (I cannot remember if it was kidney or urinary). The vet said it was too rich and they cannot break it down and that is why you give them the fake canned cat tuna. But if your kitty is fine with it then I would guess that is not an issue your cat.

MadTiger, but I have walked around in similar shoes. I have experienced biased - I will give you an example. In my public junior high school I was the minority and two boys tried to set my hair on fire. I have personally experienced it. However, I did not let it make me angry to lash out on others. In that incident, I went home told my mother, we marched back to the school and talked to the principal and those two boys were expelled and prosecuted. We are victim if we allow ourselves to be victims. Regardless of a person's race/gender/national heritage, some have suffered bias in harsh ways, otherwise may or may not. It is our job to rise above it and better ourselves. Again, I did not read anything into John Doe's statement, but maybe based on your historical background you did, that does not mean that he meant it that way.
There is a pschyology theory out there that says - behind anger is fear. I will never allow anyone to cause me such fear that I become angry and thus and not the person I know I am.

by Truth.Seeker inin the december 2005 awake, in the watching the world section, there is an article about how the catholic diocese of oregon, washington and arizona have had to file for bankruptcy due the to massive filing of molestation charges and lawsuits.
i find it hard to read that and not wonder if the same thing will happen with the wts.
i wonder how many victims, of those molester who are hiding within the organization, will actually come forth and do the same against the wts.

I don't know, considering there are still harsh penalties to anyone who tells within the cong. there is still an "don't tell" mentality. So for mass lawsuits, I have not seem them on the same scale as against the Catholic Church. What is interesting is I work with a women whose family is originally from Ireland (County Cork) and she said that a Catholic priest that they had when she was little, little was known to be a perv and her family would laugh over it "ha, ha, looks like Father Feely has found his favorite alter boy again" She said that it was very well known but it was like "well that is just their way". It seems like most the suits that you read about are happending in the States. I am wondering why that is? Does anyone know if other countries are screaming out on this issue as well?

Another Memorial Post -- with question
by robhic ini have a friend (jw) who has severe multiple sclerosis so bad that she is essentially confined to a bed.
now, she has one of those electric "chrstopher reeves-looking" wheelchairs but requires someone (usually her sons or brother -- not jw) to physically pick her up and put her in it.. she hasn't been to a memorial in a couple of years, since her condition got so bad.
she told me the other night that some of the congregation are gonna bring her to the one this wednesday the 12th.

No, bros can touch sisters in order to help them. It is just the whole, if you touched them in a sexual way. There was an old sis. in the cong. I went to and she had severe MS and they carried her around all the time. She was so fragile that the bros said they would rather carry her from her wheel chair to the car, because a couple of times she fell out of her chair. They were afraid that some knucklehead wheeling her around would not strap her in and she would fall out again.
