Well I have to fess up that I was one of those kids that did all the naughty things you were told not to do. We never destroyed anything but we did run wild. My mother's response was "let kids be kids". That was really the only time we were not under constant watch, because we were not in our home town, so people did not know who we belonged to. As for the cheapness of JWs, they have been life long tight wads. So what do you expect, that will never change regardless of how many memos they send out to be read to the congo.

Here We Go Again: The Annual ``Behave! at Conventions" Harangue
by Room 215 innow that the gerontocrats have dispensed with their annual springtime campaign of blustering everyone away from the wine and bread, it's now time to for the yearly decalogue of decorum; an epistle to the clueless.. in the april kingdom ministry the old farts tackle their annual chore of getting their dubbies to somehow behave like normal, thoughtful human beings when let loose on the public away from their kingdom halls.. what do we find on page 5?
``reminders" to the rabble not to save seats; not to leave the premises during the noon lunch break, nor to bring booze or large coolers; to tip at least 15% to 20% when dining at restaurants.
this, i believe is a first; they now feel they have to coach jws on just how much is considered apopropriate by ``worldly" (read ``normal") human beings.

The self righteousness is pretty annoying. Even when the person is not doing what the WTBTS says they should be doing. A friend of mine went to the Memorial and she got her arse chewed out by a chick she use to be (keep in mind use to be) friends with because my girl friend was not an active JW anymore. All the while the active JW chick and her hubby are separated, soon to be divorced. Hmmm, I thought JWs still claimed that Jah hated a divorcing. What's the deal. Well this active JW chick will soon find out what it is like to be shunned over some stupid rule that people put in place to make others feel like crap over. Good luck to her. Like my girl friend said, oh how hard those high and mighty ones fall when they come crashing down upon their self righteous rhetoric

Come on the worst one was K-Fed trying to break into the industry w/ his remake. I don't have the link for it, but he was sitting in chair singing along with the song and chair dancing. Too bady he did not get dropped on his head instead of the baby, it might have done him some good.

Sexual Functions 'Unclean' and the 'control of sexual passions!'

Weren't the laws under the Mosaic Law done away with (hint, hint, the reason JWs went to the Memorial on Friday). The Mosaic Law contained hundreds of laws that are no longer in place. Most of those laws were enacted due to health reasons, which we understand now but back then it was a novel concept that you don't take a dump where you are eating your meal.
Also, I would like to thank the old men who write these articles in that most of them probably fantasy about what dirty/evil things they would do to women because obviously, it is the woman that is unclean and tempts a man. Welcome to the 21st Century WTBTS.

If you went to the Memorial, what was the attendance like?
by truthseeker inis the hall half full or half empty?.
seriously though, last night there were about 20% less than the year before, and the year before that there was less.. the hall was rented, but definitely not jam packed like last year.
i had no problem finding a seat.. what was your attendance like?

Although I bought the bread and the wine for my own passover, which is what I normally do, I felt like going to the hall. I had not been in years and all these convos on this site made me wonder. So I went. I went to the first seating and it was E M P T Y. I know I have not been in years, but I also remember it being packed to the gills with people having to sit in chairs that were set up in the back area. I was surprised at how sparse it was. The funniest thing was the brother that prayed over the bread said in his prayer - we love you Jah from "head to toe" and it made me laugh. I wondered if he was going to get counseled considering the string that discussed the dumb things people had been counseled over. The bro that said the prayer over the wine, mumbled and I could not understand him, so I refused to say "amen" how do I know what I am agreeing to ... no way. They said that last year the partakers were 8,524, wasn't there a guy on this site looking for that number?

Sometimes I go, sometimes I don't. But I always make it a point to recognize the death of Christ. My guess is that these people feel the same way. They may not agree w/ the WTBTS, but they feel it is important to recognize the importance of Christ's death. And since I don't believe that any one religion is right about it, I go to the event that suits my fancy for that year. In some cases I have stayed home, read the bible, said a prayer and gone on with my evening. At least in my mind I am acknowledging something greater then me. So for those who hate the whole thing it is strange that they might go. But I suppose we all have our reasons. It may not make sense to the person not living in their skin, but it makes sense to them.

Hello, I'm new - does anyone else feel the same as me?
by Zalrahs ini was raised in the jw cult from birth until i left when i was 18(i am now 34).
i hated it from the beginning, but because my mom was so strict, there was nothing i could do about it.
(my dad didn't belong to the jws but i didn't get much sympathy or support from him - he didn't want to "rock the boat".

Zalrahs - yes most people whether raised a JW or came in later but left, know exactly how you feel. I am sure with therapy the one thing they stressed to you was - you must do what is best for you. If something tears you down rather then builds you up, it is within your ability to walk away and know that it was in your best interest. Eventually, you will leave behind the JW thinking. It may tap you on the shoulder from time to time, but it will not have a strangle hold on your heart and mind. Give yourself time. It is like the morning process, there are steps to healing and you will have to go thru them all to make it a successful exit for good.
I wish you peace in your search.

Yeah, but you have to admit, sometimes guys are hard to figure out as well. They act like they are an open book, but I can assure you that more of the guys in my office are moody then the women.
