For me, the only thing keeping me in right now is family. I suspect that many inactive ones return for family.

Thanks to Drew for originally posting this in one of Sagan's threads.
In light of the questions for baptism, specifically question 2:
(1) On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
(2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit directed organization? Having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in a right heart condition to undergo Christian baptism.
Now, consider the 'Bible Teach' book...
"What Does The Bible Really Teach?" At the back, on page 184 it says this:
However, baptism is not a mere bath. It is a symbol of something very important. Going beneath the water symbolizes that you have died to your former life course. Being raised up out of the water indicates that you are now alive to do the will of God. Remember, too, that you have made a dedication to Jehovah God himself, not to a work, a cause, other humans, or an organization. Your dedication and baptism are the beginning of a very close friendship with God—an intimate relationship with him.
How do they get out of this? -

Thanks blondie,
While I don't doubt that the WTBTS wants people to change their religion, I was looking for an instance where JW's are instructed to intentionally deceive the public by telling them they are not talking with them to change their religion.
On a side note, I love your weekly WT study lessons. Thank you so much for taking the time to review them.

Great job ithinkisee. I just finished reading Hassan's book as well, reading your paper helped me understand JW cultic tendencies.
In the spirit of making this as accurate as possible, with the idea that a current JW could read this information. I was wondering if the following should be included:
Deception is the basic feature of all group recruitment. It is also what keeps people inside cults.
I checked the Reasoning Book, (searched the WT Library CD) and couldn't find any instance where JW's are instructed to say this. While some may say this at the door anyways, I couldn't find any instance where the WTBTS instructs members to deceive in this way.- Conversation Stopper: “We’re not here to change your religion.”

Instead of using Google Earth, Google Maps was used. This is a really easy way to maintain the list.

Jehovah has the ability to know in advance what will happen, he does not predetermine our individual actions and destiny. I wonder if Esau would think that?
(Genesis 25:23) And Jehovah proceeded to say to her: "Two nations are in your belly, and two national groups will be separated from your inward parts; and the one national group will be stronger than the other national group, and the older will serve the younger."
Or Samson?(Judges 13:5) For, look! you will be pregnant, and you will certainly give birth to a son, and no razor should come upon his head, because a Naz´i·rite of God is what the child will become on leaving the belly; and he it is who will take the lead in saving Israel out of the hand of the Phi·lis´tines."
Or Cyrus?(Isaiah 44:28-45:1) 28 the One saying of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd, and all that I delight in he will completely carry out'; even in [my] saying of Jerusalem, 'She will be rebuilt,' and of the temple, 'You will have your foundation laid.'" 45 This is what Jehovah has said to his anointed one, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold of, to subdue before him nations, so that I may ungird even the hips of kings; to open before him the two-leaved doors, so that even the gates will not be shut:
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you Blondie.

Whenever I ran into someone like you I just told them "I have to do this or they will disfellowship me, my wife will leave me and my children will never speak with me again".
LOL!
I did that at least once with Elder/Pioneer D. right next to me but he didn't understand as he was still learning the language. Kept the same stupid grin on his face even after I explained to the homeowner that he (the Elder) was my retarded older brother.
ROFL!
Some people just don't want to wake up/can't wake up or think for themselves. I suspect there are many who would not leave the JW's if presented with a 'smoking gun'.
