I can identify with all the things you guys have said, but there was something more than that, maybe it was just the way i felt, but i must admit it was a spiritual type feeling, (if you get my drift!) It wasn`t because i was talked into feeling like it, as didn`t listen to half of it, as found it boring, same old, same old, but aside from all the funny things that you have mentioned, there was this `higher` (no i`m not one of the anointed, haha) overwhelming feeling, which i can`t even explain, and no, i`m not a nutcase!

now i`m out and have learnt a lot about the borg, and know all their dastardly deeds, i can`t understand what that feeling was.

What are your reasons for not joining another religion?
by MARTINLEYSHON ini am going to start this debate of by saying that those of us who were raised in the so called truth, and i being one of them, can only come to terms with our past by accepting that our parents infected our minds like a virus infects a computer.
we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.
but they (jw) segregate them from the world.

I`m not in a hurry to be controlled by any other religion, all want to exercise some sort over your life, what to believe what to think, etc.I can now think for myself, make decisions for myself, (even if they are the wrong ones) it`s called freedom!

Double Standards with Liberal Witness Friends
by Fleshybirdfodder ini'm sure this may have been covered, but many ex witnesses i know that have not been formally df'd or dissasociated thenselves still retain some friends among witnesses.
any friends i have for the most part that are still in the org are really congenial people, until it comes down to any discussion that might teeter on the edge of being remotely deep.
i've had one friend i hadn't seen in a while who came to visit me tell me right off the bat that we were not to "discuss religion", because i'm "too smart" and he "he won't be able to argue" with me.

I think there is good and bad in everything, and i had some good friends who were witnesses, but they were usually the ones who were suffering the most, and we needed each other to help us get thro` all the `trials` we had. There were ones who i could never call friends, as i couldn`t get close to them for one reason or another, or just didn`t like them. Sometimes i see my friends, and we just ignore each other, (well they usually look away!) and i just carry on by. I feel sorry for them, (altho` they probably feel sorry for me) as they are still controlled by the cult. I do think there are some genuine people that are there tho`, they are just duped like we were!

That is very true about not thinking about it, but like you say, we do think too much, but i must agree that the happiest moments are when we are enjoying ourselves and not dwelling on these things.

I agree with you about finding a purpose in life, i find it hard to get motivated or get involved with things like charities etc. If the purpose in life is just to procreate then some people as you say are not fulfilled. I have procreated a few times, but don`t find this satisfying, i still need more out of life.

I agree with `unbeliever, don`t bother with the elder`s, go thro` the legal system for your money, but also make sure the cong knows what he is up to, just tell somone, gossip is rife and it will spread like wildfire, then they will have to do something!
