I post here because it is a way of expressing how you feel after leaving the wts, a form of therapy if you like, but even better as most have been thro` similar experiences and can help and advise you if need be. It is also a place where you feel at `home` with others, as i do believe we have a `bond` of sorts, the fact that we have been in the same cult brings us together. I have learnt a lot from different people already, and it is helping me to move on, but it is good to be able to keep up with the `latest` from the wts as well, just out of curiosity i suppose.

What are your reasons for posting here?
by sonnyboy ini'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.
lol.
little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.

Amish forgivness
by megsmomma ini saw a part on the today show where matt was asking if it was possible an emotional disconnect to be able to forgive immidietly after such a terrible tragedy.
i personally feel it is not natural to be able to forgive something so big so quickly and it makes me think they all put on a front because they are a cult-like group too.
if they said "one family is forgiving, and another family is mad as h*ll about the whole thing,"it would be much more believable to me.

I saw a programme the other day where a woman had spent time with the hamish women doing quilts, and she said that they practsie shunning for anyone that does wrongdoing, and anyone that marries outside of their cult. That is even worse than jw`s as they don`t shun you, but mark you if you marry outside of the religion. The reason she said they can forgive so easily is that they believe that anyone who dies is taken to be with god, that`s why they accept it as they believe god called the ones that died.

Unbelieving husbands- blessing in disguise?
by dido ini was married to an `unbelieving` husband for the 25 years i was a jw and i divorced him a few years ago, before i got d/f, but looking back now, he was a blessing in disguise, as in some ways i kept up to date with the `world` altho` i didn`t get involved with anything in it, apart from shopping at sainsburys on a sat afternoon.
the rest of the time i was too busy looking after my kids and getting to meetings etc.so didn`t have any spare time, esp as he was quite demanding, but it was a protection living in a `divided household` as i didn`t have to be 100% reliant on the org.
has anyone else in retrospect thought that it has saved them from a lot of problems that occurred in the congs?

I wish i had used the situation more to my advantage now, but like a `good little witness` i tried to do everything, to the detriment of my marriage, as i`m sure i wouldn`t be divorced now if it wasn`t for the org. My ex husband did use the it to his advantage, knowing what standards we had to live up to, he milked it, but i must admit i would have put more into my marriage if i wasn`t a jw.It caused so many `divisionss`, in so many ways. Ok there was an advantage that if it came to the crunch he would overide me on the issues of blood etc., but he did turn the kids away from me because of the religion. He ridiculed the jw`s ( i can understand why now) and me for believing it, which made the kids disrespectful. they also blame me for messing their heads up, as i tried to stick to the `rules` as to how to bring them up. Now they say i`ve messed their heads up even more now i`m not a jw, seems like i just can`t win.

Girls/ ladies, were the sister`s competetive in your congs?
by dido ini don`t know about your congs, but the ones i were in became like fashion competitions between some of the sisters.
i noticed how some of them would look you up and down, very obviously, then the following week wear something identical.
i hate being the same as other people, so it used to p... me off, but i couldn`t believe how competetive they were.

Yes, the elders wives would only mix with other elders wives, pathetic, but i was glad as i couldn`t stand their bullshit anyway. I liked the little old sisters that had been in the congs for 50 years, they were the most genuine, and they didn`t seek attention. I usually got on with the waifs and strays, they were more my kind of people.

Yes, there was a spiritual snobbery, if you had relatives at bethel, or they were co`s or do`s or spec pioneers, or went to gilead etc. etc. etc.they would only mix with other`s with `titles`. Usually these were shriveled up pioneer spinsters who were putting the `kingdom first` and not getting married etc., (only cos they couldn`t catch a man). I know i had sisters looking down there nose at me saying i was `loud` because i laughed a lot!

Some incredible new publisher statistics and Graphs
by jwfacts ini have been doing some analysis on the declining growth rates of the watchtower society and they are very encouraging for all ex jws.
i will try to link to some of them below, but for the firefox users or anyone wanting to see the source table they can all be seen at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/statistics.htm.
number baptised compared to increases in publishers and number that have stopped publishing.

What you have to take into account is that publishers can put in 15 mins(is that right) a month now, so there are a lot that they are counting now, which puts their no`s up.
