I don`t know about your congs, but the ones i were in became like fashion competitions between some of the sisters. I noticed how some of them would look you up and down, very obviously, then the following week wear something identical. I hate being the same as other people, so it used to p... me off, but i couldn`t believe how competetive they were. The elders wives were the worst, they used to compete against each other, i used to watch them and laugh about how `spiritual` they were, more worried about their homes and clothes etc. They had to have all the `latest` mod cons`. The one thing i thought was pathetic was the personal numberplates one elder had for his wifes car.

Quite a few years ago, the bro`s were counselled about wearing white socks, and when i visited some congs in Austin Texas, i didn`t wear tights (pantyhose) because it was too hot, and we didn`t have to wear them in England, but the pioneer sis i was staying with wasn`t too happy about it, as it was the norm there.

Question: Demons
by ladybug25 ingrowing up, i remember hearing stories from my own parents and others in the congregation about experiences with demons.
sister x wore a t-shirt that she purchased at a second hand store and the demons attached themselves to the shirt and gave her problems.
certain movies and/or cds would give a family problems.

lovelylil- that is incredible, now skeptics would call that a coincidence, and other`s would call it sixth sense, but either ways, it was a great escape! thanks for posting it!
Chiddy- excuse me?
under_believer- i thought the same thing!
TheOldHippie- who knows what they are doing, probably thinking up ways to scare us! Seriously, there was a programme on recently where a family swopped holidays, and one of them was to visit haunted homes. The father was a strong skeptic, and chose to stay alone in the `most haunted house` in England. He said that he did experience stuff, and it did change his mind on it.

lovelylil- i`m sure your mothers connection with witchcraft has something to do with your experiences, and it must be very scarey having that 6th sense. i would like to hear about your premonition tho` as it does fascinate me.
fts- i`m sure that the ltd audience is because somewhere along the line there has been some interaction with spirits, take lovelylils experience, she said her mother was into witchcraft.
funkyderek- when you experience something, you may change your mind about their existence.

fts- i have never heard of someone dying either, not sure why they do it, maybe they get a kick out of scaring us, or they could be mischeavous (have i spelt that right?). I don`t know if i believe they are dead people haunting, as have always believed we go to the grave when we die, wts teaching of course, but, they could be wrong about that, and it could be the spirits of disgruntled people that died. i don`t know what to believe, but only go by the evidence that these things are happening, and in the light of day.

TheOldHippie- i believe these stories, as my bro`s house is haunted, and his drums play on their own in the middle of the night, and so does his organ. Family members don`t go there much now because of this, but one experience was when one of my sis was visiting and she used to play on his organ a lot. One day she was sitting in another roon to the organ, and her daughter of about 4 was tinkering on the organ, when all of a sudden it started to play the tunes that my sister played, who was quite good on it, and it totally freaked my sis out, and she has never been there since. Others have been there when the door just slammed hard out of the blue, with no draughts or anything. Also some have had an intense feeling of being watched. I saw a programme on haunted houses, and these are some of the classic signs of ghosts.I am convinced, as i know these are not made up, and are not attention seeking people. Actually, i am going there for a weekend soon, so i will see if anything happens while i`m there!
under_believer, who said you are getting away without punishment?

Grand and Lesser Apostate Delusions
by slimboyfat inwhat is it makes some of those wacky apostates appear from time to time claiming russell and the witnesses were/are all part of some great freemason/illuminati plot?
i'll tell you what it is, and it may explain a few other things for you too!
people who come up with these theories demonstrate a basic psychological insecurity stemming from their involvement and subsequent disentanglement from the witnesses.
