Who do you want to win? For me, I would have gone for anyone who was against the Raiders. This should be fun. So, who's it going to be?

WHAT DID YOU MISS OUT ON WHEN IN THE BORG
by nightwarrior inwe as a family allways wanted a family pet as in (dog ) but as the ministry loomed every weekend ,as well as the meetings we decided that it would be to much trouble ,subconciously the influence came from other members in the congregation ,which in turn came from the elders in turn from the bethel ,allways sprouting on about the ministry first ,you never had time for anything elsemow ,yes a dog would be to much trouble, but now,for the past two /half years my younger children are enjoying the companionship of an animal in the house,as well as 2 cats which we have had for past eight years,.
did you find time for animals.. what did you miss out on ,allso for past 14 years we have had different caravans and motor homes ,.
what did you miss out on when in the borg ,and how did it affect you.

Where does one start?
For me, I didn't get to participate in school football, which I would have done very well. Having normal friend relationships, regardless of their religion. Another, and maybe most important, was the ban on dating. To be in high school, and have the crushes, having the chance to get different personality types. Our hall was very extreme, in that there was no dating tolorated. When you were of age, (at least 18) if you dated, it was with one person only, and the complete sole reason is for marriage. You had better have marriage in mind, or you were not to date. In my hall, every person I can think of that started dating, eventually got married to each other. You would be severely counciled if you were to date one and then someone else. So people felt trapped, "well I have been dating so and so, so I better get married or their gonna start talking." I dated a girl, and from the get go it was marriage oriented. I was 18. I was even pulled into the back room, and told that marriage better be my goal. If, at that point, since I had been dating for awhile, I decided to pull out, they told me I would have to go in front of a judicial commitee because I broke it off. Got married, not because I loved her, but it was expected. Marriage to her was the most miserable time of my life. Had I been able to date a few people over time, I would have realized that there are great differences in personalities, and been able to make a wiser choice.

How far back can you go?
by JH in.
we all remember certain things and events when we were young, but do you remember certain events in your life when you were only 3 or 4 years old?
how far back can your memory go?.

I remember back when I was three. Too bad it included the Kingdom Hall. I remember clearly many events in first grade.

Isn't it odd?
by troucul inisn't it odd that after the gulf war, george h.w.
bush promised a "kinder, gentler, u.s."?
nice to see his son follow in his footsteps.... i know what most supporters of the upcoming war are going to say, that 'the world changed after 9-11'...i don't believe that.

I have never heard of a nation that gave away more than us, lent a helping hand to so many others. We are a kind nation. However, that doesn't mean we sit back and do nothing.
Here is an example. You have a parent. As a parent, you have a responsibility to train your child. At times, the child very well need a scolding, a punishment. Maybe the child has done something so wrong they need a swat on the butt. It is a parents resonsibility, to help them out, to reward them, watch them, dicipline them when needed. This is done out of love for the child. I don't think anyone will disagree with that. It is out of love that we set them straight. If the child reaches over to the hot stove, who among us wouldn't run, dive, over to the stove, save them, and wack their hand away? Oh my God, we slapped their hand? Are we bad? NO, we did it for their own good.
In some cases, children don't have parents, or they have ones that are lacking in the skills needed. They may have problems of their own, so then it is up to others to step in, and be that role model. This may be a big brother or big sister plan, or maybe other relatives that can step in and help out, or in extreme cases it may even be the court systems to lay out guidlines for the child.
Sometimes there are nations such as Iraq, that have gotten out of hand. They need to be diciplined. There are right ways to do things, and wrong ways. Torturing and poisoning your own people, threatening to blow up other countries with weapons of mass destruction are not a productive way to get along. Someone needs to stand up to them and slap their hand, make them behave. There are many countries that want to do that, but are not capable. So the US has no choice but to make a stand.
The right path, is not always the most popular.

Over the last 5 years or so, I have learned to appreciate it. Of course there are some hosts that I enjoy more than others, but one of the reasons I enjoy it, is to hear so many other peoples opinions on different subjects.
That is one of the reasons I enjoy this site. Oh sure, I like hearing what the latest is with the Watchtower, and I enjoy hearing all the different experiences from all over the world. It is not only a support group of sorts, but a gathering place for friends to communicate. But, as you can see by the threads, there are many issues spoken here that have nothing to do with the WTS. All sorts of subjects from fluff to serious topics of the day. Though we all certainly do not agree with each other on all subjects all the time, that in part is what makes this enjoyable. For me personally, I can learn from others. Even if I don't agree, at least maybe I can understand where someone else is coming from, and that helps one down the road in life. A learning process, where I can perhaps take a little from here, a little from there, and form my own thoughts and opinions. The name calling and bashing I could do without, but when you have this many people on one site, that is bound to happen.
I look forward to reading many more threads and posts from all who have different viewpoints.

The United States certainly does not wish for their to be very many civilian casulties. However, Saddam is famous for putting them around the weapons. He hides these weapons practically in the doorsteps of his people. That way, he can announce to the world how horrible the US is because they sent a missle in that killed a bunch of innocent people. What he won't mention is that the target was hiding among them.
No one wants that civilian loss of life, but if that weapon of mass destruction is hidden among the townsfolk, what is one supposed to do? Not destroy it? One thing to remember too, is that Saddam sometimes works his people into a frenzy, and they will follow him no matter what. Many of these civilians know exactly what they are hiding, and the risk they are taking.
It is not a free world out there, and they only know what they are told. So they believe the US to be the big bad evil enemy, and will join Saddam in doing whatever it takes to destroy us. They don't have the benefit of knowing all sides to the story.

Bush to Divert Funds to Church Groups
by pettygrudger indon't care how you are slanted "politically" - this should be of great concern to all americans:bush plans to let religious groups get building aid.
by eric lichtblau.
ashington, jan. 22 the bush administration plans to allow religious groups for the first time to use federal housing money to help build centers where religious worship is held, as long as part of the building is also used for social services.

There is always a plus and minus to everything. Are there going to be good things as well as bad (maybe) with this plan? Sure, just like there is with anything.
As far as witnesses go, and having the government build them a Kingdom Hall, that will never happen. First, they have all the poor rank and file to make the payments, and then there is never a question of who owns it. Second, the WTS is not going to participate in a government sponsered program such as this without getting a lot of flack ( remember they must stay separate from the world), and thirdly and most importantly, the WTS will never participate in a charity of any sort. They will not help anyone with anything, especially allow people other than witnesses use the facility. Will never happen.
For me, I am just not going to lose any sleep over it. Nothing much I can do about it anyways.
