Thoughts about the two witness rule
by Sadie5 ini was thinking this morning about how i feel the two witness rule is not applied to every situation.
take a charge of adultery for example.
i know of times when elders camped out in front of someone's house all night to see if two people spend the night together and this would be grounds for adultery, however, unless they peeked into the windows, or snuck in to be there, they were only witnesses to the fact that someone went in the place and came out the next morning.

A perfect example is my ex wife. She made tons of false statements about me to her new hall after we had divorced. She moved to another state, where no one knew what was really going on. She claimed that I beat her, and cheated on her.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I could never do either. I found out that the local elders had ok'd her to get remarried, in the hall even.
At this point, I really didn't care, but my name was being trashed, and I did not care for that. I called her elders, and told them the real story. I never beat her, I had never cheated, etc. Funny thing, in the hall we attended, people knew the real story. They knew she was a witch.
But the elders in her new hall told me that they had no way to "really" know what had happened, and the fact that I was inactive, and she was making the effort, was good enough for them. They gave her a good standing in the hall, and gave the ok to one day get remarried in the hall. Usually, they would maybe say ok to marriage, but if there was a question about it, they would not let someone get married in the hall.
This shocked me, for I remember the day when as mentioned above, unless someone confessed to having an affair, unless there was a direct sighting of it, no one could do anything.
I guess this is another example of how "united" they really are. More like how screwed up they are.

What would we have done?

Paradise. That is what we lived for, taught, as witnesses. But, had that day come, what the hell would we have done?
No more door to door work. No more talks about it, nor reading magazines and books telling us to go out and do more.
Would there have been meetings? Who would the public talk have been for? Now that there was no more service, what use would the service meeting be?
Would we still have to do personal study?
Chances are we would still have to worry about our fellow witnesses. There would still be imperfection for another 1,000 years, and many of our fellow brothers and sisters might become worldly between now and then.
Oh, thats right. We would have to teach the good news to all the resurrected ones. But then, how could you tell the difference? How would you know if they were a brother or not? Seems like it might become a worldly place to live in.
And then think about all the gossip, about how after the 1,000 years, and the big test when Satan gets out. Oh, brother so in so, never got the truth in his heart. Satan got to him.
What about after that when everyone would be perfect, and all servents of Jehovah. Then what? Would we still have gotten together for bible games, to keep our theocratic thoughts pure?
Would we still have to be chaparoned on dates? We would be perfect then.
Has this been thought through? Do the witnesses really have all the answers?

This all sounds so familiar
by whyhideit inthe news was talking about war, the world was in turmoil, gas prices were high, the economy was weak and witnesses were saying this is the end.
it sounds like today, doesn't it?
well it isn't, it is actually what was happening in 1990 when the last gulf war happened.
-
freedom96
I think that you will find that those who have not experienced things like this before, will be more likely to assume this is the end. Those who have been around for awhile, see things happening like this all the time.
I am sure that the witnesses thought the end was coming during the Cuban missile crisis. When any war started, and there have been many large ones, I am sure they thought that too. Those that were too young to understand Vietnam, probably thought that the Gulf war was it, and it happens all over again.
We have been worried about nuclear war for half a century now. Nothing different. There is always going to be concerns over some idiot having access to a nuke.

From heart of US?
by happy man insince bush became president...
the economy has gone to hell .
millions of people have lost their jobs .

Happy man,
Your profile says that you are from Sweden. If so, I wonder what you point is to try to slam the President of the United States.
The fact is, good and bad times come before us all, regardless who is president. Usually comments like this are from Democrats blasting the Republicans. If this is the case here, don't get me started about when President Carter was in office, and how home interest rates went over 20% and hurt those who could not then buy a home, and those who lost tons of money because of that.
Like I said, good and bad times come around to all of us, regardless of who is in office.
Millions of people lose their jobs, lose money in the stock market, lose their savings, again, regardless of who is in office.
And again, especially if you are from Sweden, and have nothing to do with this country, where the hell do you get off calling our President "Weak and Stupid"?
A bit disrespectful, at best.

DID CLARA GET JUSTICE?
by MYOHNSEPH ina dentist from houston, clara harris, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to twenty years yesterday, for running over her husband with her mercedes and killing him, in a fit of rage, after confronting him and his girlfriend in a local hotel.
now mrs. harris already knew about her husband's infidelity with the other woman, had even discussed with her husband how the two of them compared, and was apparently still trying to salvage their marriage.
but after the confrontation inside the hotel, she lost it and ultimately ran him over multiple times with her automobile, killing him.

It could have been much worse for Clara. The jury did find that she acted in a fit of rage, which reduced her jail time immensely.
The problem however, is that she had told her step daughter in the past, that she could kill her husband and get away with it.

You, Bin Laden and Saddam

The scene:
You are alone with Bin Laden and Saddam. You have a gun, fully loaded. They do not.
A) You can shoot them, kill them, and there is nothing they can do about it. The government will thank you, and you will not be charged with any criminal crime. The world is a safer place. Hell, you might even be a hero.
B) You can sit and have a nice chat. We will even throw in a cup of tea, and you can talk some sense into them. Maybe they are just misunderstood, after all. One big happy family. (Hopefully they don't grab the gun from you while you pour the tea.) Surely things can be resolved and we can all get along.
Which do you do? Consider this a real opportunity. If you really had the chance?
Me? Line them up!! They would be goin down!!
