I think most people view witnesses as very strange, though many they meet might be nice.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Have The Reputation THEY Think They Have?
by minimus inwitnesses believe they are special.
the publications give many examples of how wonderful a witness was viewed upon by a "worldly" person.
kms tell of how so many praise the witnesses for being so "different".....what would you say is the real way people view jws??

KM article -tip minimum 15%
by stillajwexelder inwe got a command at the service meeting tonight - the km article on the summer district conventions said if we are dining out we really should tip 15-20% minmum -this was repeated twice = good to know the witnesses are getting less tight

I have no problem tipping if the service is good. If the service is great, then I leave more, and I personally thank the server.
If the service really sucked, and it was due to the server being a jerk, then very little tip is left. I think that is more effective than leaving none.

Thoughts on Reading CoC
by love2Bworldly ini am reading crisis of conscience and am wondering what goes through people's minds when they read it, i am on about page 115. i find it slow reading because of the way it is written.
even though i have been out of the org for going on 20 years, i am a little shocked at some of the stuff i'm reading and i feel like it shouldn't shock me.
i remember when i was a jw, how the governing body was put on a pedestal; everyone assumes they spend all their time studying and praying over matters from a scriptural standpoint.

I think it is a great disappointment for many who read the book, realizing for the first time that the WTS really is not God's channel, and thus certainly not "the truth" that they thought it was for many years.

How do the Kigdom Melodies compare to Christendom's Songs?
by Honesty ini just have to comment about the canned wtbts music on cd the local congregations play on $150 cd players through $20 speakers set in the foamboard ceilings at their sales meetings worship services.
what a joke the music is that they use to sing praises.
the lyrics remind me of a high school pep rally with all the emphasis on 'we're joe hoba's witnesses and yada-yada-yah preaching from door to door and from house to house' or 'life everlasting in the pair-o-dice' crap that just tickles the dubbies ears so much they get all pretty and pink.

I think the Kingdom Melodies suck compared to many of the songs I have heard elsewhere.

Why isn't the WTS more direct in regards to "apostate" web sites?????????
by integ ini wonder why the wts does not specifically tell its hapless adherents to not go to apostate websites?
references as to what to beware of on the internet seem to be painted with broad strokes.
always first is pornography, then chat rooms.

Even mentioning apostate web sites plants a seed in the witness mind, and they just don't want to take that chance.

it is absolutely insane.. we listed our house at a little more than $100,000 above what we paid for it 4 years ago when we built it.

TIME WILL TELL (Did you fake your hours in Field Service?)
by Terry ini know for certain that brothers in our congregation often lied about their time on field service reports.
(yes, we had to fill out quota reports back in the old days).
one brother, harry, would dump magazines in the storm drains!

I look forward to flying on it one day.
True, it is designed to hold up to 800 people on two levels, but likely it will hold about 500 with additional space for cargo. Being their are two levels, I imagine they will split the entrances, so that boarding is not unbearable.
