one thing all witnesses have had in common is the belief that they would someday inherit everlasting life.
as more and more express the thought that they really don't have much hope for the future, has anything replaced the hope of eternal life in paradise earth?
or are we ultimately, hopeless?
Believe it or not, I never spent much time thinking about the paradise on earth and the prospect of living forever.
I personally believe there is life after death, but I don't think it has anything to do with life here on earth.
I have a peace knowing that though I don't have all the answers, I'll be ok.

i have always been curious how famous people act in "real life.
i just finished reading several posts about larry graham and prince, and how people perceived them before and after meeting them, and that led me to my question here.. i have a couple of close friends that are either in the entertainment industry or know those who are in, and i get to hear stories about these people, and i love hearing how kind a person really is that i have listened to their music or watched them on the screen.
been disappointed by a few, but i suppose that is human nature.. so, what famous person have you met or know personally, and what were they like?

just what is it that saddam hussein has done/is alleged to have done... to warrant a war by the us upon his country, and the most certain result of mass murder of innocent men, women and children, as a result?.
now, i also ask you: please be careful in your response, as all i want are facts, versus emotional vengefulness... and such facts that say this is what he has done so that the us is rightfully entitled to war against iraq.
to that end, then, i would also ask that you make sure your reply takes into account that the us itself has not done similar... or equal... anywhere else in the world... so as to warrant the same result on upon them.. i await your response... and i truthfully bid you peace.. sj, a slave of christ, who is still trying to understand the "thoughts"... of earthling man... though i serious doubt i will....

I also need to add to my first post on this subject, that Saddam actually killed not one, but two of his son in laws. Cold blooded murder. You say it was treason? Maybe they had good reason for it! But tell me where the trial was held to see if they were really guilty. They were taken out back and shot. Saddam is pure evil. He does not care for anyone including his own family. Imagine what his daughters thought when they found out.
The fact is, that what he has done, and continues to do is far worse than anything you want to point the finger at the US for.
To compare homeless people sleeping in their car with the millions of his own people Saddam has killed is not an accurate comparison. Come on!
And to suggest the the US is starving because of the price of food at a ball game? Please.

i'm sure this one has been done before, but what was your first "sin" after leaving jw.. i'm not necessarily talking about sleeping with a transvestite - or maybe that was it, :-).
the other day i was a movie theater and if i wanted to - i could have seen a rated r movie - (like the old george bush on saturday night live - scary!
Maybe not as exciting as some others, but I believe the first thing I did "wrong" was salute the flag.
Later, after my divorce, it was weird dating without a chaperone, having sex when you were not married. I never was the type to go out and get blasted, so I was not what you called a huge rebel in that regard. As far as R rated movies, saw them anyways when I was a witness.
*sigh* you know when you want something really, really bad, and suddenly you get it, and you wonder if its gonna last, and if its for real?
i got that now with my dad.
after 23 years of not being in touch with the man, i am having a good relation with him.

it seems the more time goes by, the more i miss being a jw.. i miss my friends.
i miss the feeling of safety of the group.. i miss having hope.. i miss it a lot..
One of the things the WTS preys on is the idea that if one leaves the organization, they will have no life. You see constantly on stage at assemblies about how horrible life was away from the congregation.
For me, I created a life for myself and my family outside the WTS. I have new friends, real ones. I allow things in life to fulfill me. I enjoy what I do for work, I enjoy my marriage, I love my kids, and cherish the real friendships I now have.
Maybe that is the key. Perhaps you have not allowed yourself to go on, to create a wonderful life for yourself. There is so much more that life has to offer besides the WTS. They tear people down instead of uplifting them.
It is human nature to desire to feel a part of something, and to feel accepted. I encourage you to find that far away from a destructive force like the Watchtower. You will be amazed at what you find. For those that refuse to follow along, I feel pity for them. But you need to take steps out there on your own.

Hang in there. The job situation sucks, but at least you have some notice to find something else to do.
