  80's pop music..didn't you love it?

  i just know brummie will be here with me on this one, but wasn't the eighties pop music just the best (maybe i'm getting old here at 32) but hey, bring back wham!

  and duran duran, nik kershaw, howard jones kate bush aha etc etc.....just great.....reminds me of all my school days, being naughty and getting detention on more than one occasion.

  there was no better decade for music.. union of the snake scott

  I am a big fan of music, and can appreciate most. (Not too much rap though)

  I like a lot from the 70's, 80's (my high school years) brings back many memories and yes, many good songs.

  I think the 90's took a dump though. Now, eehh. There are certainly the exceptions, but there is not too many out there right now of new bands or singers that impress me too much.

  90's had too much grunge. Oh sure, Nirvana hit it big, but no one will ever convince me that they even had a fraction of talent of bands such as Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles etc.

  ha ha.. seriously though: when you take all the witnesses from all over, how many really are pure and follow the rules perfectly?

  Seriously though: When you take all the witnesses from all over, how many really are pure and follow the rules perfectly? How many are really sinning against the WTS? Things like sex, smoking, swearing, porn, etc?

  What do you think is the biggest "sin" that witnesses do that they just never confess up to?

  aylestone congreagation leicester ; what a place that was.. we were so starved for laughter we used to laugh at the slightest thing; you remember how witnesses are deprived of true humour so they must negotiate with anything they hear slightly funny ?

  that was what it was like for us at aylestone.. it was like sitting in a morgue.

  we lost a great elder;- fantastic laugh.

  Four halls I attended throughout my witness career.

  First: 0/10

  2nd : 1/10

  3rd : 1/10

  4th : 2/10

  I did attend a hall at times with a friend of mine growing up. It was much better than all the others. Apart from the obvious WTS teachings, as far as friendship and geniuine love in the hall, I would rate it 8/10.

  i just left the "truth"a couple of months ago, did some sub-contracting work for a brother ( real self-righteous guy), just recieved a phone call from him saying he will no longer be needing my services.

  nothing to do with my work he said, just the way it goes.

  what a wonderful frickin brotherhood, those damn bastards!!!

  I have had several business dealings with "brothers" and I will never do it again. There just seems to be a bigger degree of dishonesty among them than normal business. You would think it would be different.

  I know several people who have talents, perhaps mechanical, construction, and such. Many cases of where other people in the congregation felt that because they were in the hall they deserved free work.

  My own father in law lost thousands and thousands because the "brothers" automatically thought it would be ok to pay him some time down the road. It never happened.

  now i buy a fla lotto ticket twice a week, even did the tats in australia.

  I do enjoy Vegas, and gambling. I consider it entertainment. In Vegas you are going to spend a couple hundred on a good dinner and show, and I enjoy craps or black jack just as much.

  I don't expect to win, but if I break even, I consider it a fun night. Don't care for slots though.

  Lotto, chances of winning is so little, it is not worth it.

  Do you think x-JW's need a crutch?

  i have thought this for a while...that when you leave the org, it's as though a vaccuum needs to filled.

  when i left i threw myself into politics, it was as if i needed something to do with my mind and thoughts.

  this lasted about three years or so, but even now i drink more than perhaps i should, as though i can escape through drink.

  I think it is a persons individual personality that requires a "crutch." I don't think it has anything to do directly with being a witness.

  Salute the flag

  during my childhood growing up jw while in grammar school saluting the flag or reciting the pledge of allegiance was practice every morning in our classrooms.

  before the begining of every school year my mother would have a talk with my new teachers about our religious beliefs and practices.

  i detested this i wanted to recite the pledge just like my classmates and sing the star spangled banner outloud.

  I enjoy being patriotic now. I can salute the flag, sing the national anthem, etc. Still feels a bit weird, but that will go away.

  I tend to not trust big organizations that ask for money. Though I will, and have donated to organized charities, I prefer to choose exactly where my money goes. I would rather help the individual directly.

  True, we may not know where the pastor got the money to drive that car. Perhaps he has other investments of time or money, and if so, good for him. But driving it where he did probably was not his best choice. He need not flaunt it.
