since my husband i my recent fading process, we've received a few "love bombing" letters from some in our old congregation.. i've received 2 from an old "friend" whom i grew up with and went to school with.
we've drifted apart years ago, to the point where she wouldn't even look at me at the hall---she's a pionner, husband a ministerial servant.
It is very difficult, for each circumstance is diffferent, and each friendship we may have had as witnesses are different as well.
If your friend is sincere, then perhaps she is doing what she feels is right.
If you are going to just fade, then I would be very vague in anything I would say. If you are going to DA yourself, then absolutely a letter stating exactly why would be the right thing to do. Who knows, perhaps you will reach her heart, if not now, later.
i was recently out with a sister on the ministry; she was talking to some security guard.. she has been witnessing to him, on and off for a few weeks.. before she leaves, she gives him a question to "think about" and tells him "she'll be back next week" to give him the answer.. this security guard reads the bible at work.
the sister was talking about the resurrection hope.. she says, "did you know the bible promises that we can see our dead loved ones again?".
she finishes by saying, "next week, we'll discuss what god requires of us in order to realize that hope.".
Did I ever purposely deceive anyone at the door? No. At the time I either believed it, or just didn't think about it, and was going through the motions.

i am not trying to compete with fmz as he has a supernatural thread going already but - do you secretlyt wish for a demon attack - serious question - the reason i ask this is because - if i had a demon attack it would mean there was a satan the devil and if there was a satan it would mean there was god.
what i am trying to say in a nutshell is "a demon attack would actually strengthen my faith" where at the moment it is non-existent almost
I would not wish for a demon attack, but I can understand the desire to have questions answered. As talked about in another thread, I did experience a "ghost" encounter for almost 10 years. Though I don't believe it was a demon, it was not of this world as we know it. That, in a strange way did enhance my belief that there is in fact more to life than we know.

My elder father-in-law says that the property is in the names of some of the elders. I found this odd, as I had heard that the WTS owned it afterwards.
Here is my thought. What if there were three elders on the title. If they all left the organization, and wanted to sell the KH, could they legally keep the profits? Or is there much more too it?
does anyone remember this game from (i think) the early '80s?
it's a role playing game of some sort that included some violent imagery or something.. i remember jws (and the media, come to think of it) making a big, big deal of it.
something like it was demonized or made kids murder people.
I enjoyed some of those games when I was in my early teens. Lots of fun with friends. Never got into D & D, but I did on some of the other games that TSR had out at the time. Remember Gamma World?

i think the jws are the closest to being the true religion when you compare them to other organized religion.
In my studies of the bible, with it alone, and no WTS material with it telling me how to believe, I, along with many others have come to the conclusion that, in reality, the WTS is very far away from what the bible actually teaches.
They pride themselves on being so different, but in doing so they have made themselves so wrong.
hello everyone, this is my first post.... i'm in the process of fading after being a jw my entire life (almost).
i don't go to meetings anymore..... hubby's an elder, and boy, is he mad.
he still makes the kids go with him to meetings, service, etc... they hate it and i feel sorry for them, but there's not much i can do about it.. i've been feeling lonely today, i do miss my friends sometimes, and i have really good friends, but since i don't go to meetings i never see them much anymore.

as you may recall, the wts arranged to take my sick daughter into hiding for two months and payed a doctor to prescribe arsenic.
the doctor ant the wts lawyers convinced bethany that the arsenic treatment could cure her.

The pain you have been through, and continue to go through, I can't imagine. I am very sorry for your loss. The fact that the WTS organization can do these types of things is astonishing.
I wish I could be there in person, but I will be in spirit. I don't think anyone will give up until the world knows what a sick and demented organization the WTS is.

its a long story but basically i was having a bible study with my half sister, i hadn't had a lot to do with her during my childhood so studying was for me an excuse to get to know her, and she was lovely, she couldn't do enough to help me, until i stopped going to the meetings and told her i didn't want to study anymore, then she dropped me like a brick and now refuses to speak to me at all.. shortly after this happened our younger brother started to study with her son, my brother needed somewhere to stay so they offered for him to move in with them which he did.. he became quite engrossed in his studies, they encouraged him to stop associating with his worldly friends which he did, he became an unbaptized publisher, but still they didnt really associate much with him, even my sisters 2 sons who live in the same house as him and are the same age group didn't bother much with him, so my brother found himself quite isolated, and ofcourse i'm bad association so he was always told not to visit me.. anyway, due to all this hes missed a few meetings recently, not many but just enough for them to tell him that hes got till september 7th to leave, giving the reason that hes not making enough of an effort to serve jehovah.. what do you all think?.
is this typical behaviour of jehovahs witnesses, or are my family really messed up??
This is simply another example of the attitude of many witnesses, who do not have the Christlike spirit in them. Would Jesus act that way? I think not.
Very sad behavior, very child like. "If you don't do it my way, then we won't do it at all."
went for my belt test this weekend.
i was testing for a blue belt and passed with flying colors.. also while doing some research on some martila arts forums i came across an article about martial arts and the bible.
it's gives some interesting points to argue when family members say it's wrong to train in the martial arts.. martial arts and the bible.
I have personally been involved with martial arts for many years now, achieving my black belt 8 years ago. Congrats on your testing!
Martial arts helps a person in many ways, most of which the WTS will never understand. I too, have one of my sons involved, and he absolutely loves it.
