God's name ??
by Ade ini know this has probably been covered before, if so i apologize for dragging it up again.
1) is it acceptable just because its an accepted pronunciation to call god je-ho-vah
2) should the witnesses constantly be saying jehovah this and jehovah that, as it seems to me to be taking up gods name ( if it is correct ) in a worthless way.

This is an interesting subject, at least to me.... I have given this a great deal of thought. The conclusion I have come up with is that the pronuciation really doesn't matter if you are honestly trying to get it right. Your point about getting irritated about a mispronunciation I would have to take exception to. I cannot believe in a god who would be that petty. Given the example of a parent with a child learning to speak, the child trys to say daddy but says da-da or tries to say Richard, but says ri-ru....I doubt the father would care what came out but would be over joyed about the attempt for his child to communicate with him. As for is is appropriate to use God's name or a title since he is our Heavenly Father. The bible clearly states that he wants to be our friend too, so I cannot believe he would find displeasure in any attempt. To think otherwise would be to put God in a box and define what he is willing/happy to do based on our own limited perception. For those that think Jehovah is not the right way to pronunce God's name and think that Ya-weh or Ya-heh-oh-wa or whatever, would you not also think that Jesus name should be pronounced Ya-hosh-a-wa or whatever it actually is and not the anglecanized pronucniation of a german translation of a greek transliteration? Anyway, I think since none of us know, we should not try to force our opinion on anyone else. If someone wants to use it and is being genuine I doubt God cares. -r

Elders/MS, what would you do?
by Sacchiel ini understand there are active elders and ministerial servants on these boards.
if a witness spoke with you in private about doubts/questions they have about wts doctrine or the like, would you encourage that person to continue investigating?
what if that witness outright declared the organization as a wicked or not directed by god?.

Did some of you actually read the original question? I am a MS and I would explain to them that if they are to believe that they have the truth they should do what research they felt necessary to prove that to themselves. I would tell them to be balanced about the research and not to go looking to prove a particular point, that if they did this the truth of matters would be obvious. I would encourage them to be cautious who they talked to about their research until they were done and absolutly sure of what they have found since they would not want to harm others faith with something they were half cocked on. I would lastly reminde them of the scripture which states "if God is for us who can be against us" and to report back when they were done. -r

Ann Coulter vs. Jeremy Paxman (head banging time)
by slimboyfat ingood to see ann coulter treated with the contempt she deserves:.

a bit more realistic than the o'reilly and hannity and colmes exhanges she regularly enjoys.

I think it is good to have arrogant individuals on the right to balance the arrogant individuals on the left. It sure does seem though that the left crys and whines a lot more. I am stuck somewhere in the middle

Gas Prices Today Are Cheaper Than Years Ago

ahem, tell us, what were gas prices before the bush admin?

I make much more now than before Bush, so do many of my friends....? Some don't, That is just the way things go. The economy goes up and down. Peoples situations change. Many Many factors are involved. No one likes it when they are on the short end of the stick. When you get there you have to ask "what am I going to do about it?" I choose to make my own destiny rather than rely on the government. The people in New Orleans waited on the government, see what happened to them. If life gets tough for me I will just get tougher, until I die. Crying about a problem does nothing to solve it. JW_r I apologize, I think I got off topic a bit, sorta, kinda. Please forgive me.... -r

I copied the whole DAMN thing!
by rassillon ini have been searching for a copy of graysons abc 1975 to purchase for my own for some time.
i have found exactly 0, anywhere, forsale that is.
i went to rice university and spent about 20 bucks and copied the whole thing (all 300+ pages with plates images in the back).

I don't think so, I could be wrong, but he did publish several books. And the ABC book was published by J.J. Agustine Locust New York, or something like that. That is cool though, I thought that that should be a service offered by kinkos, hard to find books or self publish, just order from kinkos and run down and pick it up... Maybe they have his other one too.

I have been searching for a copy of Graysons ABC 1975 to purchase for my own for some time. I have found exactly 0, ANYWHERE, forsale that is. SO I went to Rice University and spent about 20 bucks and copied the whole thing (all 300+ pages with plates images in the back). Then I went to kinkos and had the ledger size sheets cut down. I am in the process of scanning these copies so I can put the whole thing into PDF. I am not going to sell it for any who might be interested, but because of the rarity of this book and the importance to JW's I will make it available if you feel like you need the whole thing, I do cause everyone or I should say every witness questions the veracity of any negative info. Thus now I can show them the whole thing and point them to a library copy and dare them to compare. It is a lot to scan and I need to cleanup the dark edges and straighten some of the images, so it may take some time....man I need a high speed scanner. Anyway just thought I would let you know. The book is mustard yellow by the way, not at all what I expected. Grayson is pretty good though, I started reading the intro and such and it is quite obvious he has NO agenda. He gives some good examples as to why the tablets are reliable and discusses some of the other historical evidence that is related. I must tip my hat to Lady Liberty, it was her getting the book through the library that prompted me to look for it there. Thanks. Well, it is always fun spending an afternoon bent over a copier with a book about babylonian chronicals! -r

Start your own bank !

I have a couple of thoughts. How do you loan money if you don't already have a bank? Say for instance one of my drug dealer friends who deal only in cash wanted to drop 25 large, how would they do that? AND This made me chuckle : Introduce a Friend Scheme -r

OK I am going to only make one last post on this cause it appears some still have that old JW attitude "our opinion is the only which is right" Anyway asleif_dufansdottir My comment you felt like responding to did not mean that I would be running around waving real or toy guns around. I meant that making "comments" about guns in a joking manner was not joking with an actual gun. It was only a reference to a gun. SEE? Your additional comments come across at though you think that you are smarter and better than me. Should I choose to view them that way or should we both try to use a little reason on the matter and think that there might possible be something deeper and the person behind the words might be a little more complex than what they write on a web forum. Should I respond Take a chill pill DUDE! OR Hey I know you really are just trying to be helpful and I appreciate that, let me assure you that we are probably alot closer in our actual views than what can be played out in notes we make to people we don't know. And tijkmo NO, even if everyone agreed with me I would not have done anything, I am a big joker and like to mess with people. I found pleasure in just imagining the looks on their faces if the situation had transpired, just as much as thinking about the "star trek" costume, and the likelyhood of me wearing that is about the same - nil. I am sorry that you experienced pain, I would never advocate actually harming anyone unless you were in imminent danger. I hope you are able to put things behind you and overcome. I will make sure to make mention of you in a prayer. And wozadummy YOU ARE OFF TOPIC! I disagree with you but this is not the place to discuss this, K And crankytoe Thanks for not being "quick to judge" and making an emotional response. Not to say that I never do ;) To everyone, take a breath before you reply. I get enough selfrightous BS at the kingdom hall. -r
