My kh was like blondies. Most showed up right before the song started and sat way in the back. And most left immediately afterward. Perhaps the CO was visiting and he had a meeting with the elders beforehand?
Or maybe an early JC meeting?
i was driving by the hall last night and it was 45. minutes until the meeting started and there were.
12 cars in the parking lot.
i thought don't these.

to the household of god, israel... and all those who go with... may you all have peace!.
man, it's pretty tough out here in this "wilderness", isn't it?
hot, dry, dusty... no meat... only the wretched manna and lukewarm water.
Very nice post!
i believe that the governing body knew very well what would be the consequences of publishing the above article on apostates.
they carefully word every article, not only for the faithful, but for the unfaithful, and for those who have never believed our faith.
the above article and the comments here show me their great wisdom, because they have achieved exactly what they wanted.
botchtower, lol, I just read that! You are naughty.
i always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..
I cringed every time someone took their poor little kid into the back room for a beating just because at 2, they could not sit perfectly still for 2 hours at the kh. You could hear the kid screaming and every wack and the other jdubs would just ignore it, while the brother giving the talk raised his voice over the poor kid's screams. This actually made my skin crawl with anger.
i posted a blog yesterday regarding some of the occult images used by the watchtower society.
i got an interesting response today from an apparent russellite.
i have never run into these people so i was surprised at his vehement defense of russell.
Mad,
Russell did teach that All christians go to heaven, 144,000 to rule as kings and priests aka the "high calling", and the rest are in heaven as the Great Crowd of Revelation. He allowed all christians to partake at the memorial. According to Russell's divine plan book, 99.9% of mankind would be saved thru Christ's ransom and live in the paradise on earth. He felt Jehovah God would open people's spiritual eyes at the end and remove all obstacles to their belief in God. A much more loving plan then the WT of today which saves only Jehovah's Witnesses, (maybe, that is if they do enough WT works) and kills off the other 99.9% of humankind.
I agree with you, Russell was wacky but not evil. Rutherford was definately evil, a sociopath I am sure.

I just gave him a simple witness about the real truth in the comments section. Hopefully something will penetrate his thick skull.

Basically they pulled a Rutherford. Because that is what Rutherford did to the rank and file of his day. He would drum up trouble so he could cry persecution and use it to strengthen the faith of the witnesses. it makes sense in a way. The WT has to do something, they are bleeding members like a stuck pig.

Russell was a complete Loon! He started his own crazy religion because he did not like the church he attended. He borrowed heavily from the Millerites, adventists, Masons and others and concocted a strange brew of his own.
When my hubby and I first left the Witnesses, we associated for a short time with some Bible students. Most of them WORSHIP Russell. You cannot say anything against the man because they will verbally attack you. This happened to me and my husband. They flooded my email with hate mail because I said Russell taught a lot of false things that JW's today still believe.
The bible students like to distance themselves from JWs but they are definately the sister org. complete with false teachings about Jesus being Michael the Archangel, the invisible presence, the year 1914, niether believe in the bodily resurection of Christ or that Christ was God in the flesh. Most of christendom rejects bible students along with JWs because their views go against mainstream christian teachings. The bible students also HATE all of christendom just like the WT but they do not shun those who leave their group.
For any JWs who have left the org and want to know more about the early teachings of the WT, I would suggest they get copies of the study in the scripture books from any of the bible student groups. They still hold onto all of Russells old teachings, even the ones the WT got rid of.
Once you read them, you will see what a twisted mind Russell really had. To his credit, he didn't believe in organized religion. But other than that, all this teachings were rubbish.

Anyone following this story?
The suspect was born and raised in the U.S. He went to a prestigious Boston School, Northeastern where he earned his degree in Engineering and decided to use it to make explosive devices to wage a terrorism attack on U.S. soil. Back in high school this kid had troubles, he was accused of burning the American Flag but said he did not do it. He also got in trouble for cementing the school doors closed. Why would you do that? possibly to pull a Columbine??
I wonder how many more like him are on U.S. soil? Scary really.
