Amen to everything you said. It seems we are in agreement on a lot of things. I was a Witness 12 years then loosley associated with the Bible Students but broke off quickly because of all the date issues and the faithful slave thing. Personally my belief is that no one has been appointed as faithful or wicked at this time and will not be until Christs second advent. then he will reward his servants. And it has not happened yet. Like you said, Christ did not know and he even told us (Matthew 24 & 25) to not be concerned with the date and time but stay awake. I always wondered what kind of test of faithfulness and readiness would it be if Jesus told us when he was coming? Then we can just get ready the day before. I thought the whole point of the comparison to the thief in the night was to show that we would not know when he was coming. After all if a thief says I will be there on Sunday night at midnight, you can bet we will be ready for him. Anyway, nice "talking" with you. It is getting late so I am going to bed. Goodnight!

i think i have a few times in my life, but the one i had most recently really shook me up.

it was really a re-occuring thought and feeling more than anything else .i preceived it as something happening to me when in reality it happened to some one close to me.

whatever it is, I wouldn't worry that it was demonic. Especially if it works out for the good. I have had many episodes too. Probably too many to list. Heres one more. I was sitting in my Livingroom last summer when I suddenly shot up from the sofa and told my daughter I was going outside to check on my son (he was 10 at the time), I said, I think something is wrong. So my daughter followed me out. By the time I got half way down the road, my son was coming up crying. Some kids were bullying him in the woods down the street (where I told him not to go alone) and one of them sat on him for some reason and was choking him. He couldn't breath and was crying for me he said. so he was surprised to see me coming when I obviously could not hear him. Of course I did "hear him" but internally. So SOS seems like a good term for it. I never really share this because people think you are weird. And of course in the JWs they would have thought I was possessed.

I actually have a really good sense to when something of the occult is around. It bothers my senses. So I believe what I have is good. For years when I would visit my mother in law, she would have my husband and I sleep in one bedroom of her home. I always felt very unconfortable and would wind up leaving the room for the couch. My husband asked me all the time why I left the room and I told him there was a presence there. It felt cold and I had an aversion to it for some reason. Anyway, he told his family and they all thought I was nuts. Well one day my hubby was helping my mom in law clean out the room (which belonged to her son who was hardly home) and in the back of the closet was all kinds of occult items and things that had to do with black magic. My hubby was like "how did you know"?. I just did. I never liked these things because my mom was into witch craft when I was little and I had some bad experiences. But thats a whole other story.

How do Elders handle non-Baptized believers who ask too many questions?

as follow up to my last post (sorry it didn't all paste from my word document for some reason) i'd like to ask a question.

some of us have now seen how sickoflies jc committee meeting went, and i know alot on here have there own experiences.

so my question is this: i have been a non-baptized publisher (born in jw's) for almost my entire life.

I had a study once that kept asking too many questions and most I did not know how to answer. So I went and asked the elder of my book study the questions and he didn't know how to answer. Then he told me if someone asks too many questions to just cut them off and stop the study because they don't have the right attitude. HUH?

I saw something on Oprah once about humans and instinct. And they were saying that many people who were interviewed after bad things happened to them or their children said they got a bad feeling about someone or something right before but just ignored it. And Oprah was like "People always trust your instinct", without fail it always protects you. Then she went on to show that there have been studies on this topic. I have found this personally to be true and teach it to my kids too. Because I do think we have this for a protection.

I also had a pervert who was a long standing family friend drop by one day when I was the only one home. I was only about 10. I think I was sick and home from school and Mom went to get me medicine. I had the chain on the door and he wanted to come in. I knew him since birth but this day had a really bad feeling and told him to wait until my mom came. Well, he tried to push the door open and he scared me to death. I was able to shut it and put the dead bolt on. Years later, He also was arrested for being a child molestor.

I have always experienced things like this and do not believe it has anything to do with demons. I think there is a rational explaination for when we get those feelings that something is not right or danger is approaching. I think it has to do with instinct. Animals have it so why wouldn't we?

I was once about to leave a friends home and tried to get up off her sofa when I was overcome by a very strong urge to sit back down. I dropped down so suddenly my friend asked me what was wrong. I said, I dont know but think I will stay for a while longer. Maybe two minutes later, just enough time I would of had to get to the front door, we heard a tremendous crash! A truck lost control and went up on the sidewalk and crashed right thru the front door. The one I would have been walking out of at that moment. That was about 17 years ago.

Heres another thing that was more like a preminition:

My mother had died of cancer in 2001 and a few months later she came to me in a dream and told me that she was coming back for my father. It seemed so real, I told my siblings and husband about it the next day. Within a few weeks we found out my dad had cancer too and he died within a few months.

My mom had it too whatever it was. She knew the exact moment her mother died. I was about 12 and remember my mom going hysterical out of the blue as we were standing in the living room, saying she had to call her family because her mom just died. And she had.

I think the above experiences happen when we are closely tied to someone. So you are not the only one who experiences these things. Also, it must run in family because my daughter who is 13 gets these feelings too.

I opologize then for saying you were a BS. I don't really care if Russell used the two winged disk or not except for the fact that the claim is made by Jehovahs Witnesses and BS today that Russell was appointed as some special messenger by Jesus because of the fact that he was not tainted in any way with false beliefs and pagan, ungodly teachings. And you raise a good point about Christmas and other pagan holidays that were christianized. So the point is that there is no basis at all for claiming Russell was any different from any other church during his time. Because frankly I do not believe he had any such appointment as the faithful slave. I am hoping that JWs and BS will go back and research their own origins and see that the claims made by the WT today that they were somehow untainted by false religion or pagan ideas which made them superior over other churches is simply not true. All Christian denominations today are tainted in one way or another. Thre is no absolute truth in any of them and one of them are a complete replica of the early church. My personal belief is that all relgious institutions are part of bablylon the Great. And they all contain some truth and some falsehoods. I am also convinced somewhere out there, there is more proof that Russell had some type of Free-Mason background because he uses very similar terms. But if not, he was into pyrmidology for sure and I for one do not believe in his dates because of this. And besides, none of the dates panned out anyway. Thanks for the conversation tonight. Lets go with what you are saying although you are mistaken. You no doubt are a bible student becasue they all give the same answer. But I have researched this outside of any group that supports Russell and you are mistaken. In the Free mason religion (I know people who belong to it and right around the corner from me is a Masonic temple), on of the Gods of the highest order IS the two winged sun disk God RA. If you do some independent research you will see this is true. But you have to ask a free mason, not give the stock answer that bible students give. I swear that at least Three groups of BS have given me the EXACT same response. so you must have it written somewhere.

But lets say you are correct for the sake of arguement. Can you explain to me why Christ would choose an organization to dispense all his spiritual truths that uses a symbol from ancient Bablyon (the first babylon the great), Assyria, and Egypt mythology? These are all pagan nations and not worshipers of Jehovah at all. And why would Jehovah God or Christ want to be described in such a way as to be confused with a false God RA? I mean, are you kidding me with this? The bible has nothing to do with Mythology from pagan nations. You are just proving my point that Russell and the Bible Students were not free from false beliefs and not any cleaner spiritually that any other Christian denomination of their time. It is obvious that Russell was influenced by the Pagan people in Egypt. If Russell was merely using this terminology of "healing in his wings", he still did not have to link Jehovah with the two winged sun God Ra by putting this pagan image of a false God on the cover of his books. And after that the JWs hid this fact and even today the BS do not send out the scripture studies with the same cover do they? Why if they feel it was o.k.? Because they know no one would accept the books as bible truths today and would pick up right away on the fact that the books were occultish. The WT would not be able to proclaim their continued propaganda that thier organization was the only clean one upon Christs inspection. Ditto for the Bible Students. Russell knew what he was doing and used much more terminology also that proves he had some Mason ties. One of the first things they teach new Masons is that it is o.k. to lie to those outside the secret order and if they have to deny they are a member. I doubt that Russell who started writing the studies in the scriptures only after he made two trips to see the Pyramids, did not know that the artwork was the sun god RA. And I doubt he did not know about the cross and crown being a Mason symbol. The man was highly intelligent as you can tell if you read his books. This point is important because supposedly Christ appointed Russell as the Faithful Slave and the Bible Students as the only True Christian religion when he returned (invisibly) in the 1800s somtimes because they were: The only ones of ALL the churches that taught the truth about Christ and were not tainted by Babylon the Great. So I think people should know the real truth about the origins of the WT society and its pagan, occult and Mason roots. And to claim he was somehow unsuspecting does not hold water. He knew exactly what the winged disk represented. He was in Egypt twice at least!

Translation

i notice that their are differences in the jw version of the bible.

i am told that the bible was transcribed directly from the greek text.. my questions are:.

1) who translated the text?.

When I first left the JWs, I went out and bought the New International Version of the bible. I noticed differences also. I got out the Societies own publication (which I still have) called the Greek Interlinear translation of scripture. This book shows you the actual greek translated into english and it proved that the New International Version was correct and the NWT changed almost 200 verses in the NT alone. I felt like someone punched me in the stomache. Remember how we were told at the doors by householders at our bible changed verses and we would give them the stock answer of the WT? Which was that the NWT's only changes were to add Jehovah's name, and that it was easier to understand? LIES!

Keep reading another version because the NWT was only written to back up the Watchtowers false teachings.
