number of remnant missing

the years 1931 to 1934 are important years as this is when the number of remnant peaked.

i have looked high and low on the net and there is no data for those years.. many think that 1935 was when the number of remnant peaked .

welcome to the board. As some have already told you, the WT has no idea at all what they are talking about with the remnant nonsense. The number 144,000 is purely symbolic only. It is taken from the book of Revelation which states it is written in signs and symbols.

No one can close the heavenly door except Jesus. And as of now, he has not done this. He promises whoever knocks on the door, (of heaven), he will open it up to them.

I know of many who have become spirit-begotten in the WT org. and were told they could not partake of the emblems at the memorial (this includes me). All Christians, bapized into Christ, who believe in him and his ransom, are going to heaven. The bible does not give the actual number but they are referred to as a great crowd or multitude. If you would like the scriptures that back this up, please feel free to pm me anytime.

Also, good catch with the WT contradicting their own words in their books, this happens all the time!

were you forced to join the (misery ) ministry school?

maybe you have some fond stories of this.. my story is that i was forced to join when i was about 12. i always got an assignment that dealt with beastilaity in exodus or somethin.

In one congregation I was in, the elder in charge of the school tried to force me to join - and I was a married adult women with kids at the time.

I told him I could not do that one thing. I attended all the meetings, I was very active in service but I would stress out too much trying to give a talk. I also had a lot of anxiety problems at the time. Anyway, this guy totally harrased me every meeting to try to get me to join the school. He admitted that the reason he wanted me to join is the CO told him he should have 100% of the publishers in the school when he came to visit again.

After a few weeks of pressure, I went to the PO in the congregation along with my husband and my hubby told the PO in no uncertain terms that this guy was to leave me alone. Unless he could show scriptually that I HAD to join the school, I was not going to join and my hubby told him HE personally would handle the CO. I really appreciated it because although at the time my hubby and I had some different views, he saw how upset I was getting and stressed out and came to my rescue - which was very knight in shining armor like.

Anyway, the PO looked totally shocked but said he would handle that brother and I guess he did because no one asked me to join the school again.

i'm not feeling too good and if it wasn't for my mom threatening to put me on suicide watch, i would be dead by now.

anyways, i think i might have to get hospitalized soon.

Please take care of yourself. And feel better soon. If you need the help then get it. Many people suffer from chemical imbalances, depression and anxiety today. I am also one of them. And I always say, we should treat it like any other illness and if you ndeed medication and support and it is available, please take it, we want you to stay around. I will pray for you too. thanks for that update. Isn't that just revolting!

I was working with a young pioneer sister one day and she placed two of those books with the young children of those she calls on. I don't think it was made clear to the congregation that this particular book was for children of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I know I was shocked and outraged. I yelled at my hubby, what does this garbage have to do with Christ or his kingdom!

The WT is really sick and totally obsessed with sex and here like I said before, they are proving that the child molestation problem is much bigger than they will admit openly. So here, they tried to put in a sly warning. What total hypocrites!

To all the active JWs - please don't get offended by my strong comments against the Wt org. I have nothing against the average Witnesses, I know you guys are misled and under a terrible weight. I pray for all you spiritual captives and look forward to your future release from captivity. God bless you.

so after a very, very slow process, thinking over things that were stored in a little box in a corner of my mind, i've decided to finally confirm or deny all the doubts i've had about the society.

i'm a 34 year-old married man, work as an it consultant, with two kids, ages 9 and 2. i was "born" in the organization.

so i took everything as true, never questioned anything, and did all that was asked from me.

Hi Lady,

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during the last supper to see who was present. We know the Apostles were but I believe many more were there also. There is always a debate on this and it would be nice to have a conclusive list of those present.

I also would have liked to have been present during the Sermon on the Mount (mountain). I think those teachings contained in that sermon are some of the best of Jesus.

I would have loved to be present when Michaelangelo painted the cistine chapel.

I would have loved to meet Leonardo DaVinci - and watch him paint his "last supper" then I could have asked him if he painted the Apostle John or was it really a secret message about Mary Magdelane?

Does the Rainbow Covenant Disprove the Flood?

the story goes that god provided the rainbow as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the world by flood.. noah and his family saw the rainbow after they left the ark.

after the waters had receeded.

after it had stopped raining for months.... yet a rainbow is simply sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets.

Excellent thought. So God was saying as long as there are rainbows (forever), I will keep my promise not to flood the earth again? That makes sense, you proved there is more than one way to look at things. Thanks.

it's been pretty well established that all religions use fear as a motivator, to some degree.

the jw's have honed this practice to a near art form.

I was most afraid of disapointing God and not being faithful enough. And secondly on abusing his "sheep" in some way. I tried to be positive with my bible studentss and could not make the org. out to be more than it was. That is probably why no one I studied with became witnesses, although I have retained them as friends even today. I could not scare them into the org. I felt this was spiritual abuse - as my dad did this to me as a child with hellfire.

I don't know why but I never believed you had to be a JW to make it through the big A. I never taught my kids that either. Although my hubby did. The kids never bought it either.

I thought this thread was about answering a simple Q which was does the rainbow disprove the flood - not a debate on whether a flood happened at all. Also, everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the flood - I don't see why some people have to insinuate that others are stupid for believing in the flood account. Or, to Question someone elses education level or where they learned their facts. There are some very intelligent people in the world who believe there was a flood, some believe it was earthwide, others believe in one large area that affected those God wanted removed from the earth. Either way, we could listen to others opinions without resorting to putting them down, I mean really, isn't that kind of childish? I thought there have been some good answers thus far.

so just to sum it up a bit, this girl caught her dad watching porn, told me about it and then talk about ways to get him to stop watching it.

apparently she never told the elders and apparently he stopped watching porn.

Call the police. This is a crime. I guarantee you the elders will not call the police even if they live in a state where it is mandated by law that you do so. Their first reaction, no matter who the elders are, is to protect their mother organization above all else. The young girl who was molested will most likely be counciled too as the elders will try to say she must have led her father on. I know it sounds sick but I know many this has happened too. This will only traumatize her more. She and her sister who thinks this act occured due to porn watching need to know that it happened because their father is a pedophile, and no other reason. I am not saying watching porn is o.k., but most men who watch adult women in porn, while they may have a lower opinion of women than other men, do not go out and perform sex acts on children! And his own daughter, how disgusting. The guy needs to be in jail. And another thing, he is probably counting on the elders not reporting him to the police. Please let us know how it turns out.
