If The Watch Tower Society Was Your Real Mother and Father, Would You Want To Live At Home?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthe restrictive life style watch tower society puts on its members is smothering.
the ones who stay living with "mom" and "dad" must obey their rules.
talk about dysfunctional, overbearing parents with impossible ideals for their child.. bethelites = live at home with mother & father.

Well said. The WT "mother" is a terrible parent indeed.
One of the big reasons I left it was because of all the restrictions on my kids. For instance, my daughter is an artist and has loved to draw since she was about 4. (she is 20 now) When she was 10 I signed her up for a local art class for kids but it was on Saturdays. We went out in FS but cut it short to drop her off for her little class. And you would have thought she committed murder the way the "sisters and brothers" in the hall acted. We were quickly labled as being lenient parents and not putting Jehovah first.
Next thing I know the elders talk to my hubby and he DEMANDS she quit and not take any more classes. My daughter was crying terribly and we got into a HUGE fight over it. And I told him "over my dead body will she give up her lessons" Within the year my kids and I were out of the WT, hubby didn't like going it alone so he up and quit too.
But I remember parents making sure a big deal out of normal kids stuff and beating the tar out of those poor little kids. I remember thinking to myself how I went to catholic bible school and had so much fun, listening to stories about Jesus and how he is love, and drawing pics. Not one kid ever got spanked in my bible school. What a diff in the KH.
Why the hell would any kid want to grow up and stay a JW???

You should be very proud of yourself, you are very couragous! I am sending good vibes your way. So sorry you have to go thru this, but you will be stonger in the end. You must stay true to yourself in order to be really happy. Take care of yourself please. And please, see a therapist so you can talk about your feelings.

Whacky comments! What the craziest comment you've ever heard?
by toweragent inlast week a sister in my new hall made the following comment,.
"a brother once told me that it is better to be wrong with the organization, than to be right and be on your own without the organization.".
wow.

I thought having to sit through talks about masturbation and how it is self abuse with a bunch of little kids in the kh, including my own, was about the craziest comments I ever heard.
I took my kids age 5 and 7 and walked out. Afterwards people actually asked me why I left??

So people are looking at your eyelashes instead of paying attention to Jehovah's banquet table of spiritual food at the proper time? And WHY are those people stumbled by eyelashes???
I say the bigger, the better.
I remember when my daughter (10 at the time) stumbled people with her earings. Earings that were a gift from an 80 year old sister btw. They are just ridiculous.

Social anxiety is very different.
I never had social anxiety, I always loved to be in social situations just not around the JWs, that was all. My anxiety and upset was the fact that I knew the WT was a cult and I was raising my kids in it. Also I found the environment very negative, with lots of talk about not being good enough in Jehovah's eyes and needing to do more, more and more.
I never felt good enough.
Also I did not grow up in the WT. And the way the WT would twist arguements in the mags to try and prove points was wearisome to me. I began noticing the loaded language more and more. And could not believe I was the only one seeing it!
In a nutshell, I cannot support what I simply do not believe it. I never wanted to be a hypocrite. I know some people have families still in and pretend for them but I just could not be that person. I was getting depressed and anxious and also angry to my very core that I was ever stupid enough to believe in the WT's message.
When I stopped attending meetings, I literally felt like I was just released from prison and the wieght of the world was lifted off my shoulders.
I can understand now just WHY so many of the JWs are on antidepressants. I grew up in the Catholic church and hardly ever heard of anyone on medication. But then again, I used to look forward to church back then and always left feeling good about myself.
Being in a negative cult drains you mentally, physically and spiritually.

Question for you astute folks here. Ex wife, no money for a major operation.
by jam intypical for elderly jw,s, they are now in their twilight years,.
with no medical coverage.
my son told me my ex needs major.

Hi,
Well I work in the medical field and have had many patients who could not pay their bills due to similiar circumstances.
Most hospitals will make a payment arrangement with you for medical bills. If you qualify by income, you may have most of the bill negated. My brother was able to do that. Your ex should contact the hospital social worker and explain the situation asap.
Tell her NOT to wait until it is too late and the hospital puts a lien on her home. The social worker can tell her what help she will qualify for.

I've been out almost a decade. But was mentally out for over a year before I actually left the org. During that time, yes, I would get physically sick before meetings and especially before going to conventions. The last one my family skipped completely.
The last meeting I attended during the WT study, I had to leave and sit in the car. I wanted to stand up in the kh and scream out "why can't anyone tell this is bullshit!". So I removed myself.
Honest to God, I could not go through that ordeal again. Leaving the tower helped so much with my mental and physical health. Although I almost lost my husband in the ordeal, it was worth it in the end.
I wish everyone going through that same ordeal the very best and hope you too can exit completely soon.

How the new light on the domestics may backfire on the Watchtower Society
by yadda yadda 2 inthe new light is a bit of give and take by the gb.
they have taken upon themselves the title of the faithful and discreet slave, in exchange for pushing the 'appointment over all of his [christ's] belongings' out into the future, and also in exchange for allowing the earthly class to be counted as 'domestics'.
the gb can now totally lord it as kings over the flock in exchange for having "dignified" them by including them as domestics.

I have said that for a while now too. and agree with everyone here The partaking needs to be opened all to all very soon because that is the only way they have a chance of keeping old members who must be very disgusted by now that the paradise is not here yet. and the only way to bring in new converts from other churches who would NEVER bother with a church they cannot partake at.
The WT is laying the ground work for this to happen in the near future imo.
