jws you know have college degrees and have careers?

if so, what on?.

Haha...learning a trade...funny, b/c right after H.S. my husband went to "Air Conditioning School"...got his certification, it didn't go so well. Worked as a maintenance man at some apartment complex. So, sad! Also, he later went to Real Estate school to become a Realtor and has pretty much had a hard time breaking into that too. Hasn't had much luck.

So, this is why he became a bit uneasy when I suggested we opened up a college savings account for our newborn daughter. hahaha...well, it's going to happen whether he likes it or NOT. hahah!

Judgement Day

why are jws so freakin' concerned with what any one person does with their lives?

why do they care if one of its members "smells the coffee" and thinks for themselves?

Why are JWs so freakin' concerned with what any one person does with their lives? Why do they care if one of its members "smells the coffee" and thinks for themselves? Or, God forbid, does something "worldly"? Why don't they just let everyone make their choices and go their own path?

Even if the person leads a "squeeky clean" life on the outside; witnesses, attends meetings, field service, etc...but in their hearts is a ROTTEN PERSON WHO WISHES HORRIBLE THINGS ON PEOPLE...then he/she will get judged based on that. Right?

So, the shunning, disfellowshipping, et. al...are just ridiculous! We were all given free will, you should do what you will with your life, good or bad. God is the only judge, not a group of elders! Why try to make everyone fit into a cookie cutter persona, if it is not what is right in their hearts?

Gosh, I hope I'm making sense! What do you all think?

Double Standards with Liberal Witness Friends

i'm sure this may have been covered, but many ex witnesses i know that have not been formally df'd or dissasociated thenselves still retain some friends among witnesses.

any friends i have for the most part that are still in the org are really congenial people, until it comes down to any discussion that might teeter on the edge of being remotely deep.

i've had one friend i hadn't seen in a while who came to visit me tell me right off the bat that we were not to "discuss religion", because i'm "too smart" and he "he won't be able to argue" with me.

YEAH...I understand that the whole backstabbin' and "fake friends" standard is the reason my husband decided to no longer ATTEND MEETINGS or CONTINUE WITNESSING! He told me that he would hear his so-called "friends" talk about eachother behind their backs and would "tell" on each other whenever one of them did something "worldly"...He ended up just disassociating himself!

we'll most likely do a nice dinner tonight as a family (husband, daughter and i), and i will have to buy my own cake.

but we can never call it a birthday anything...the very mention of the term freaks him out!

they haven't knocked on my door but either they have gotten in or someone in the building is one.. i live in a russian seniors residence.

almost everyone is russian and most of them speak only russian.. i saw this in the hall outside the elevators and snatched it up before someone else decided to take it home and read

Advice for non-JW please

having visited this site on many occasions, and having been recommended to it, i am confident that it is a source of good advice from people who know about these things.

i would be grateful for any advice you can offer me.. i have been an atheist for 20+ years, but before that was a non-conformist protestant with degrees of belief varying from acceptance to enthusiasm.

my atheism resulted from research because of my (continuing) interest in the effects of religion.

Hey,

My advice is to be yourself and avoid any conversations about religion, et.al. In reality, what they really need to get is that in spite of what they learn and are taught...there are people in the world (wordly, if you will) that are not as bad as they think. I think that our mission as regular people is to show them that so that they can hopefully put that whole idea to rest. I've done that with my in-laws...there is not much discussion about religion b/c they have grown to respect the fact that I'm not JW nor do I want to be. I guess they just need help understanding that the world is not such a bad place after all!

it was a true eye opener on how these men prey on kids and teens...i wanted to reach out and yank them out of the tv.

i loved how they got caught red handed!!!

I think they should get castrated and tortured...make it hell on Earth for them! It's just so disgusting. And to think that many of these sick Aholes have families...a wife and children...Hello!!!!!!!!! would you like your kid sodomized or abused????? Well, they're not very smart are they?

Please safeguard your kids on the internet and make sure they are not giving out your addresses. It's just so dangerous. These SICK and TWISTED individuals will stop at nothing to get what they want.

i didn't know if this had been posted yet.

another death with a loose jw connection.....it doesn't say they were jw's, but that they had a jw materials......but, no matter what, it's a sad, sad situation.

*THese are the stories I wish my mother-in-law would read...b/c according to her JWs don't do anything bad or violent...they are "perfect". Yet, she loves to bring up stories she's "heard" about Catholic priest raping boys and stealing money from the church...WHATEVER! Every religion has their "bad" apples.

I wish this was front page news or top news on TV so that she can SEE that not all JWs are as wonderful as she makes them out to be.

It's very unfortunate what has happened to this family. My prayers are with them! Poor baby! Poor mother!

I hope that dead beat wack job rots in jail!!!
