  Has anyone else felt like this????

  i was talking to a friend of mine...she's inactive at present but attends some meetings here and there.

  i have a very hard time getting through to her, anyway.... she's starting a business and is in this workshop that teaches her the processes of being a businessowner.

  she stated that the lady teaching the class told them that this is a blessing from god.

She stood there real quiet while everyone else agreed and acknowledged what the teacher said by making various comments. The teacher noticed that she (my girlfriend) was real quiet and asked why. She (my girlfriend) stated that she was always taught by her JW mother that if you don't go to the house of Jehovah you're not blessed.

  I told my girlfriend that her mother says this because this is the way we are all taught. I remember many times feeling unworthy of anything because I was not serving Jehovah as I should. That's so wrong.

  Another time a recently disfellowshipped ms mentioned to me that he was totally lost..."what was he going to do". Out of all of the studying of the bible (my girlfriend used to be a pioneer) and he a ms, I don't get how they can't think out of the box and realize that Jehovah loves them no matter what. I always equate it a parent...we love our children regardless...we just try to correct their thinking at times and guide them along the way. It's a terrible thing that the JW org teaches people that there is absolutely no hope for anyone not doing what they say you should be doing. Almost like the hell & brimstone teaching...

  So, why did I meet with the elders?

  this is my explanation as to why i met with the elders today.

  when i agreed to meet with the elders last week i had made up my mind to just go in and be honest with them.

  i was going to tell the elders that i no longer believed this to be the truth, and then i was just going to walk away.

  I think that you did well. I feel where you're coming from as I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings either. It's just ashamed that people don't understand our feelings either. You're damned if you and damned if you don't. I hope the best to you.

  this is just unreal.......i cannot believe they have the nerve to actually put this stuff into print, but here's the proof that there's no limit to their insanity-----or their hypocrisy:

  page 26: "..a preoccupation with the future...prevents us from seeing the present as it is" noted one american philospher.......even jehovah's worshippers are not immune tot his pattern of thinking.

  (gee, i can't imagine why) what if we become so preoccupied with future physical blessings that we are blind to our present-day spiritual blessings?........we could easily become discouraged and feel 'sick at heart because our expectations have been post-poned beyond what we imagined (or, what we were promised)........we could develop a complaining attitude.

  i am not a jw.

  i have never been a jw.

  i tripped over this forum whilst participating in a little harmless internet forum raiding.. i am a 48 year old man with a wealth of life experience who married a much younger woman who had been raised in a formerly devout but now mostly non-meeting attending jw family.. i have a couple of tertiary degrees in engineering and some undergraduate credits in psychology.

  I WENT TO CHURCH THIS MORNING....

  after the distastful and depression memorial at the kingdom hall last wednesday night, i guess i just felt the need to go somewhere else this morning for easter so i drove around.......i was going to go to the presbyterian church but the service wasn't untill 11:00am....ditto for the lutheran and united churches too, so i ended up going to the catholic church (of all places!

  ) because the service started at 9:30am.

  never been to a catholic service before, (except for one wedding and one funeral years ago).

  I was invited to a Methodist church this morning. The service started at 11:00 a.m. Very interesting. Lots of singing and praising of Jesus. Lot's of prayers. Really liked that they acknowledged everyone there from the children, to visitors, to the elderly. They also stated that someone in the congregation is retiring and will need assistance from the congregation. Very different from our meetings. I liked that everyone had a part of the meeting...even the sisters. The preacher read the whole passage of passover and didn't need notes or an outline...he spoke from his heart and quoted many bible scriptures that I was familiar with. It was pretty neat. I've only been to funerals or weddings at churches. Neat experience. Will go again, I'm sure.

  we were walking toward the building laughing and happy, and i noticed that we were the only ones in good spirits.

  everyone else was dressed to the nines and somber.

  We are happy to have you here!! What a tragic thing for you to have gone thru!!! Is your Stepfather still a JW? Is he still serving? What made you begin to question things? Please know you have friends here! WELCOME!!

  Thank you so much for your support. Yes he is still in the truth. He was disfellowhipped….not for what he did to me but for adultery…he is now reinstated. And still looks so stupid…I can’t stand him. Don’t see him much…I moved.

  I was having a study with a sister who used to come to my house. This was after my reinstatement…we would sit for hours and not study anything…she wouldn’t even say prayers at times. I then began to study with another sister and asked her to show me in the bible why we should think that we’re the chose religion (JW’s only). The 144,000…I wanted to know how other religions that number. She couldn’t answer that question…just referred me to the Revelation book. On another occasion, I asked why Jehovah would even need to prove anything to Satan and his demons…why he didn’t just zap him (when he went against Jehovah) and let that be the example. She explained that he is a God of Just. Of course, he could’ve Just gotten rid of him. We now have to watch the elderly get sick and suffer and die, babies and children starve and die…it just doesn’t make sense for such a loving God.

  I think that I went back because I was very emotional at the time. I had friends in the “world” (in fact they still treat me much better, they are there when I need them without questions or explanations), I thought that I was missing something and after reading all that I have…I’m not missing out on anything. One sister who knows that I’m researching told me that it’s the brother’s in our congregation not the organization, but after reading so many similar life experiences, it is the organization and Jehovah doesn’t do things in those ways.

  Hi. This is my first post. I've been reading for a while and can relate to a lot of the other post. Been associated with the witnesses for over 30 years now, been disfellowshipped twice but now reinstated. Started noticing a lot of different things and now I'm actually acting on my instincts by researching things. Was a victim of molestation by a step-father ms and nothing was done...never understood that. (I didn't scream - a child of 7 or 8 years of age) therefore, no proof.

  You all have been so helpful...was angry and very disappointed at first from the information that I research, but now laugh at how stupid people can be. And am glad that I did research for myself...

  Went to the memorial last night and the elder that said the prayer before passing the bread read the prayer from index cards!!! Can you believe that.
