  Disfellowship?????????????????????

  today's study topic included disfellowship.

  i'm a little confused i was told that the only way you can be disfellowshipped was if you did something you knew went agains jehovah and would not repent for it.

  but the only person you can repent to is jehovah......... then i was told that the elders can however "keep the flock pure" b/c if jehovah is not happy with the congregation he can take his holy spirit away.

  call me a neopositivist, a semi-verificationist or semi-falsificationist, but the claims made by "silentlambs" reminds me of the shakespearean line that was quoted in the creator book published by the wtbts.

  that is, the contentions of silentlambs seem like much "sound and fury" that in truth signify nothing.

  i am of course referring to the supposed dateline show and the claims made about some members of the gb of jehovah's witnesses.

  I meant that from what I've read on this board, I think this forum would not help me personally. I'm not interested in agnosticism, atheism, the teachings of Christendom, evolution, drinking kegs of beer, vulgar speech, bitter negativity, spreading rumors, Christian bashing or fornicating left and right with whomever.

  So what's left? Maybe you think I'm being flippant, but I'm serious. Is it that you're "above all that?" What's the point of thinking great thoughts, if it renders you impotent, passionless, sterile? The greatest thinkers, the ones most worth reading, were not above bitter negativity, vulgar speech, fornication, etc. I'm beginning to wonder if you're much more than an academic parrot.

  I know its hard for those who circumambulate on the terra firma to apprehend how the mind of a philosopha works, but in all earnestness, I am not trying to impress anyone here. When I submit messages, I am oftentimes in the process of trying to formulate an idea and provide some type of philosophical backing for it.

  Boy, that sure resonates with my own psychological perambulations, too! For example, I often find myself sublimating in the place of das ding the unreciprocated affection of the every elusive (m)other, bestowing upon myself a predilection for the mythological enactment of the primordial father, resulting in a rendezvous of jouissance. The transcendence, though incandescent, is transient -- alas! -- and I inevitably plummet into the oubliette of despair. But, as the great Antarctic philosopher Oondihutrue Nykowloski Bonaparte said, "My porridge is always cold, ack, so to bed I go."

  i feel like i've been away from this place for eons now and it's probably true, none the less, i feel on top of the world.. my wife gave birth to a set of the most beautiful boys one could ever dream of last monday and i am absolutely elated, whooooooaaaah.. i can tell you all is well is well with mother (a godess) and children (sons of god almighty himself, me .

  what can i say say other than telling the whole world about it including you guys.

  I make this qualification since the Dutch philosopher Herman Dooyeweerd militated against the absolutization (the deification) of what he called "the mathematical-science ideal." I have often used his delineation of modal spheres and the mathematical science-ideal to argue against gauging intelligence by means of IQ tests. Therefore, I am not suggesting that we reduce human lives or experiences to hard data. (African-American thinker Lewis R. Gordon also shows the inadequacies of a neopositivist approach in his works on Africana philosophy. See _Her Majesty's Other Children_ for details.)

  Seriously, I use to name-drop all of the Great Thinkers I had read, making as many eclectic allusions as possible. But that was freshman year, and as time wore on I tried to learn to come to the point without all the unnecessary verbiage. You might have decent ideas, but your sesquipedalian prattle sounds silly.

  dont you think that it is stupid when you hear the dubs say that all appointments are made by the jehovahs holy spirit?.

  how many times have you heard of elders/ms etc.

  that were commiting all sorts of wrong doings while at the same time serving and passing judgement on others.. i remember when i was appointed ms there was a brother that was appointed at the same time, that accepted the assignment and served for almost a year before they found out he was commiting adultery all the while.. then you have the pedophiles that operate within the congregation some being elders etc.. i know for a fact that i could be a fornicator/drug user/closet queer/ are anything bad and keep it secret and i could move up the ranks as high as i pleased.. hell i could even be a undercover apostate/fornicator/all of the above and still get appointed if i kissed enough ass.. i could pioneer and lie about the hours,they would never figure it out.

  Ooooooooh yeah, that 'selective foreknowledge' always irritated the hell out of me, too. Basically it means that God doesn't know what he knows. Or, he knows but blocks it out. Thing I always wondered is, how does he know which parts to block out and which to let himself in on?

  i apologize if this has been previously covered, but i'm new here, and i couldn't find what i'm looking for.. can some of the recent convention attendees please tell me what is the theme of the upcoming fall circuit assemblies?.

  i "walked away" around 1988, and i have not kept up with current jw events.

  can someone explain the yearly schedule/names of conventions/assemblies.

  Geezzz, I can sure see everyone here were once JWs. Its exactly like I recall going to te Kingdom Hall. One person talks to me, and I'm ignored by everyone else. Surely with all the people here, someone must know what the theme is to the upcoming Fall assembly???

  As of this posting, your thread has been read 86 times. So, you're hardly being ignored. Personally, I don't have access to that sort of information, so I can't help you out -- that's it. That's probably the case with most of the others who haven't replied.
