Flyin High, I was thinking back to when I was a child. We were dirt poor. The catholic church gave us boxes of food with no questions asked other than, "what else can we do for you?" My dad was unemployed and mom was working as motel maid with 4 kids. They helped pay for the light bill so that we could have electricity, without any expectation in return. The first time any of us kids got to go to an amusement park(6flags) the church provided the tickets, food & transportation. We felt like "normal kids" for once, instead of the poor kids that had to sleep on the floor. So yes, there are real christian religions that do provide assistance to ANY persons in need, regardless of your race or religion.

Will JWs leave the org because of accelerated doctrine change?
by cultswatter inlooks like the wts is morphing into a totally diferent religion.
they are trying to get new converts any way they can at the same time they are trying to patch previous doctrine in an attempt to give the illusion of true prophecy.. hey wts, no matter what you do it won't work.
the 1914 date is pure fiction, so is 1918/19.

greetings from another newbie
by lost_sheep inwell... i've finally worked up the courage to get an account & start posting on this site.
i've been lurking for a couple of months now, voraciously reading all the, mmm, "delightful words of truth" i've found here.
i'm currently deep in dubdom, so i have to be pretty ambiguous about some personal details, (i'm really paranoid, hopefully that will pass :-/) but my story in a nutshell is: i was born into this religion, baptised in my mid teens, happily married to a wonderful (& thankfully, somewhat open-minded) jw lady, & now, several years later, i'm starting to seriously question some of what i believe.

Welcome! I've been "lurking" for 3 years & have finally got the "hanging down things" to post myself! Soon your name will probably need to change to found sheep or something like that. You have come to the right place for unconditional support & friendship. I know this because of reading alot of stories & posts here. It's a blessing that it exists.

How a JW was instrumental in deconverting me from Mormonism
by Noggin ini used to be able to state, with clear emphasis... and a straight face, that i knew the mormon church was god's only true church on the face of the earth.
i used to be made up of a highly
polarized mormon mind set

Noggin,
Your story was enjoyable & I hope Pedro is kicking back somewhere in Spain post exit the wt & being thankful for his encounter with you. Maybe you did something for him as well. A q for you. Do you still believe in God ? I ask because there are quite a number of people that are now aetheist after going through all of that. Just curious. Thanks again

Holidays
by I-follow-the-narrow-path injw's don't celebrate holidays, because they are pagan and would offend jehovah god to partake in them.
what about the memorial though?
i mean, why is it okay to celebrate that?

Elizabeth,
Honey, if you are really interested in learning the truth, please go to your library and read some books i.e. history books, books on cults, mind control, etc. I'm assuming you are interested since you have been studying. Before you commit yourself, you need to do research from a nonbiased source. All the books that you have received from the wtbts is naturally going to biased to their beliefs. I am just worried about you going through alot of future heartache like alot of wonderful people on this site have experienced. When I 1st studied with the sisters and read the knowledge book, I immediately saw red flags when I across the part that said to expect people to oppose to me learning accurate knowledge. Another biggie that felt weird was when I asked about 1914. I read all of the books they gave me really fast-i love to read-.They looked at each other wide eyed & then said that I am "jumping too far ahead" and that will be discussed later on! I was asked if I had been talking to others about my studies with them, how did my family feel, etc. I felt like I was just did something wrong, when the logical part of my brain just knew that I didn't. Sorry to ramble. Just PLEASE be sure of ALL things that you are studying and make use of your library or computer. My very best to you !

SoL- aka Dan THE MAN!
I've been on this website everyday since I first came across your initial recording to get follow ups & to see how you & your folks are doing. You have no idea how much you & the others in this forum are such an inspiration! I am so proud of you for not allowing yourself to treated like a punkb*tch by those powertripping dorks. Thanks for the expose' of the wt bull$h*t & especially for using independent thinking . It's mental how the borg takes something innocent like "independent thinking" & gives it a negative connotation. My best to you & your family!

I have a q now that is kinda related to this...How do u get a 9yr old & a 15 1/2 yr old out of the wt? The irony is that they & their mom "claim" to be faithful jw's, however they all listen to rap(even with the curse words), go to nfl & nba games, mom lets the older one have drinking parties, and have a wordly girlfriend that he makes out with. Now, I have no prob with the above things listed EXCEPT the drinking, unedited rap, & I'm concerned about the little girlfriend could end up pregnant. All the other stuff is normal growing up experiences & I'm thankful that they are allowed to do that. However- they refuse to do the holiday things-flag salute, etc. Double standard wouldn't u say? I wish that someone who loves to write could make a book for jw kids who are caught in the middle of a believing parent & a former believing parent. I hate to admit that the wt is good at writing stuff in a way that kids can understand & condition them to accept a theocratic way of living (ex: why bdays are unacceptable to jhv-john the baptist head on a plate...) Can a book be make to make the kids less paranoid about getting destroyed for wanting to do normal things? I feel that the kids want so badly to please their mom& grandparents, & yet I can tell at times that the younger one is in turmoil about the fact that pops is going to be done away when this wicked system of things ends. Sorry that this was long. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi there!
I'm new, so bear with me. If you still have copy of the Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry book on pg.148. In summary, it says that an announcement would be made to the cong, and that he/she would no longer be an approved associate. The cong would treat him/her as one who was df, and that field service reports would no longer be accepted. It's a total crock of pooh! I wish all humans were born knowing that NO person or org has ANY power over them unless they gave it away. In Dr. Phil's words ( which I don't always agree with him)but, there are no such things aws victims...just volunteers! When I heard that, it was if the lights came on & got "BRIGHTER!" Hope this helps.
Take care
p.s. I suck at typing , so pardon the typos
