Taking apart the Memorial

a new poster inspired me to take a look at the memorial talk and the way that the witnesses honor (dishonor) jesus' memory.

i had mentioned that the form is, from this christian's point of view, an abomination.

the participant is encouraged to look and not partake.

I find this topic very interesting and I am still digesting the info - but in my opinion the JWs memorial was strictly a corporate decision. I think maybe us out here are trying to explain JW doctrine when in fact they are all about the money and membership. I think (we) give the JWs way too much credit. They are just a bunch of money hungry men preserving their posh lifestyle in the East.

I read that years ago the group of annointed got tired of the same small group meeting once a year for the passover meal. So they invited the "great crowd" to WATCH them partake. It resulted in more donations, and a valuable recruiting effort because of the memorial talk.

I just think JWs need to see what their religion is - it is just another corporate entity wheeling and dealing for money, tax free real estate, and scamming innocent people out of their hard earned money.

Other religions seem to accept all people who want to believe in Christ and be taught the bible. I always remembered enjoying the Catholic services as a child until my parents changed over to JW and the torture of us kids began and the isolation from other people.

i have spoken to a number of jws since the annoucement was made about the private book study group being eliminated from jan 2009.. .

the governing body were fully aware that writing "satan is angrier than ever" as the opening sentence of the letter, jehovah's witnesses would put 2 and 2 together and make 5.. .

they were counting on this.

Another person here on the message boards had the same thought, and I totally agree. I think it was a total deflection from the fact they were and are WRONG about the term "generation". This is not new light, nor does the GB have a clue of what they are talking about. But they are deceitful and manipulators and evil. I totally agree that's why the special announcement about the book study, plus it was done on a Sunday, again, to make people forget the prior WA study on the generation change.

I was thinking if this study doesn't get people to wake up nothing will. The obvious "chosen" ones in Brooklyn know nothing more about bible predictions than any person picking up the bible and reading it. How can those few chosen annointed in Brooklyn be WRONG for something like 130 years??

I hope those sitting in the KH are happy with stagnation in their lives - no friends, no celebrations, no education, no job promotions, just handing out free religious materials door to door waiting for millions to die at armaggedon.

That story makes it so clear how horrible a religion can be. To be so delusional into thinking god wants you to die. How very sad. I hope her family is very proud of her death. It means nothing to God. God has stopped dealing with humans since Jesus died.

Why Jesus didnt address the Father as Jehovah?

since the jehovah witnesses claim that god must always be referred to jehovah and the fact that others don't do this proves jehovah's witnesses are the only true church, why is god not always identified as jehovah in the bible?

This topic bothered me when i was a kid - let alone when I became an adult. A no JW can explain why Jesus said in the Lords Prayer to say "Father" giving no name for god.

JWs have an entire booklet devoted to spinning the use of Jehovah when there is no support for our day. Jehovah was the god of the Jews, we are now saved through Jesus alone. I thought the more you have to explain something, that is how weak your point is.

The JW annointed believe they are EQUAL TO JESUS, thus using the name Jehovah to address the almighty god. The JWs teach that when the annointed go to heaven, they are ruling with Jesus, not obeying him or beneath him.

It is just plain now that the JWs totally push Jesus aside except for one night per year. Just incredible to me. Then they have the nerve to ignore his resurrection!! There is no special Sunday to celebrate Jesus's resurection, they only have a "special" talk weeks later speaking only of recruitment, that the JWs are the only path to salvation, again ignoring Jesus, using only the name of Jehovah for salvation.

Good analysis, Mary. I liked the way you hit the point about 6 million farmers in the field doing futile work. That was excellent.

And I thought the GB is worried that the next generation of JWs will NOT support them in their comfort and wealthy lifestyle in the Brooklyn, that this new generation of young people will begin to see how they want a life for themselves, education, family, not just living life in a cramped rental forever to support a bunch of lazy people back east that refuse to work.

Very good study - I liked the irrelevant scriptures you exposed in the article. Notice the membership only edition will not dare question the dates mentioned in the paragraph - 607, 1914, and the fact the scriptures do not support or mention those JW dates.

The ending of the article was just as ridiculous, where do the scriptures say Noah or John the Baptist are not in heaven? That the new system will be us sitting around in native clothing talking about the old days and eating fruit. Bizarre.

Adam and Eve - already dying BEFORE eating from tree?

i am in the midst of reading jehovah unmasked and have come to a very interesting point.

nathaniel j. merritt says that a close reading of genesis 3:22-24 shows that adam and eve were already dying.

i found this to be a very interesting idea, in addition to the very plain and simple use of words in that passage that clearly states indeed the serpent's promise to eve was correct.

Since the fog has been lifted since I no longer attend the cult mtgs, it seems Jehovah and powerful angels (or gods) are more on an equal level. That's why Satan could LEGALLY challenge Jehovah's right to rule mankind, and the lengthy legal means Jehovah used (by way of his "son" Jesus) to claim back the earth as his own.

Otherwise, if Jehovah truly were the highest being, why not just simply lay down your rules and that's that. Why all this human suffering, dying, sickness, if Jehovah didn't have to prove a point or compete for domination of the heavens and earth. Seems Satan is exposing that in the Bible when he tests Job, and later tests Jesus.

Not one JW can explain why Jah allowed Job to be persecuted, remember Job knew nothing of Satan, he thought Jah was testing him - and he was right! Jah even allowed Satan to murder Job's children - no JW can explain that in the Bible.

ALSO I thought the earth was created through JESUS - another powerful god?? Or a god just below the rank of Jehovah??

This is a much more interesting topic than the WA sales mtgs each Sunday where all they talk about is recruitment.
