the new light is a bit of give and take by the gb.

they have taken upon themselves the title of the faithful and discreet slave, in exchange for pushing the 'appointment over all of his [christ's] belongings' out into the future, and also in exchange for allowing the earthly class to be counted as 'domestics'.

the gb can now totally lord it as kings over the flock in exchange for having "dignified" them by including them as domestics.

I always think their new light is just recycled from the 1950's, when a lot weren't born yet or would have no knowledge of old teachings. I remember from my mother that it was believed that as a surprise, at a random memorial, ALL baptized JWs in attendance would be told to partake of the emblems, that they had been sealed for everlasting life. This would keep members coming to the memorials hoping to be inducted. This was just an old rumor I remember hearing as a kid....I just think a lot are sitting and hoping, waiting for something to happen....when all that is happening is they are separated from family, friends, and their money.

One not so nice rumor from the 1980's was that ALL would be told to partake because it would be a Jim Jones type thing, and the GB and honchos in Brooklyn could take the money and run to another country. I heard a bunch of bizarre rumors as a kid...just a pathetic group of bored people hanging onto a nothing religion, nothing to work for, just bothering people each Saturday handing out magazines.

on page 171 of the "learn from the great teacher" book published in 2003 it shows a picture of a very cute little girl holding a ragged ann doll.

she is sitting on a chair in her bedroom with her hand out toward a man that is coming toward her.. the paragraphs say "so just as jesus needed protection, you also need to be protected from grown-ups-and even from other children-who may try to have sex with you.

usually, these people will pretend to be your friends.

The group of men back East publishing this junk thinks it is the victims responsbility - so a little girl says "NO", then what? The attacker does not retreat, then what? It is like I was taught, you blame the victim, it is somehow YOUR fault, like a woman who is raped that does not cry out, she is guilty of fornication...that book is creepy, disturbing, and might be written by (alleged) pedophiles or to aid and abet alledged pedos in the KH.

The problem is the creepy illustration - so who is that man approaching the girl with the doll? Wouldn't it most likely be her father? So who does this little girl tell? Further it says "listen to your parents" they protect you from wrong, oh really?

What if they are the perfect JWs sitting in the KH every week - who does the little girl tell?

It does not make sense to equate the JW info with info children receive at school. If I am abused at home or at school, I would most likely be old enough to know who to tell - a child is conditioned in his/her JW home to keep their mouth shut or be labelled as satanic, rebellious, etc., and in need of strict discipline.

I was raised a JW, I was abused, I had no one to tell until I was finally old enough to be "marked" in the KH as worldly, how could I rebell against such a perfect JW family? Finally, I got the courage to simply walk away from the ABUSE I was getting at home and at the Kingdom Hall who more than loved my elder father, perfect mother and shut-in, afraid of her own shadow angelic sister.

what watchtower has gotten wrong isn't just their 2 witness rule.

it goes much deeper into other failures of jw dogma that has allowed this injustice and others to flourish in their organization.

Thanks Billy for responding to our comments, I am learning a lot - my father and uncle were elders, so I understand a little of the procedures, just can't believe how they brush off certain activities as being nothing, just uncleanness, as if the perpetrator and victim were both adults..but even if the victim were an adult, assault is a crime. And I can never understand how the GB are above the law, so is murder okay too? Is that judicial committee matter? just amazing..

The Society is claiming that a confession by a guilty person does not mean you call the police or disclose it to anybody. A random ministerial servant says he did something wrong and is sorry. The elders ask for guidance from the society, they say delete him as a MS. the end. There was no court case or criminal activity at the time of the wrongdoing....

Then yrs later the victim brings suit against the perpetrator for the act and the society for concealing the confession.

I think the society will make local elders personally responsible in future cases and abandon them, which will in turn cause elders to rethink their positions.

I think its because of the recent lawsuit they LOST and have to pay $21 million to a victim. The KH took no action and no doubt the society is angry the victim got support, when in fact, no one was supposed to talk to this person. The society is trying to get the JWs even more isolated and alone, I hope more people wake up this is a false religion, a corporation, out for your money.

And I have finally noticed how many things are made up, there is no "paradise earth" in the bible, nor can I really see the two classes of people...did Jesus ever mention two classes? Wasn't Jesus' teaching that everyone goes to heaven and that is the "paradise" he promised? All followers of christ were annointed with a heavenly hope.

wozadummy, excellent point. I am going to remember that when speaking with my JW relatives. Funny how the true religion fails to provide for its membership when hard times hit. They must rely upon satan's world for help.

I wish JWs could see that their so called true religion is just a corporation. If one of their business operations is not functioning, is running out of money, they close it down. They do not throw more money at it, they let it die.

The headquarters in Brooklyn is worth billions in the US. They choose not to funnel money into a business that is failing in Africa (or anywhere else in the world). Its volunteer workers now have to get jobs and fend for themselves. All in the name of the true religion.

It is a BUSINESS, I just wish active JWs could see that! It has nothing to do with christianity or they would send money and provisions to that country instead of abandoning their volunteer workers.
