I had the same opinion for years! I thought they were all evil, and couldn't be trusted. I'm still trying to rebuild this opinion... I'm a lot better now, but I still have difficulty trusting people.

"Worldlings" - What was your opinion when you were in the Org?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. although never a fully paid up, dunked member of the club, i was at times very keen on the whole jw thang.. when i was in, i thought all worldly people were lying, cheating, alcohol and drug addicted, sex obsessed gambling criminals who should be treated with ,at least a very high degree of suspicion.
as per the classic pictures in the 80's books - all women looked like hookers, all men were pictured smoking or with a whisky bottle.. did others here have similar opinions.. i remember being 8 or 9 and my idea of a worldly man was a picture in the pale blue (creation book) or the red one (dunno the name) - i'll try and scan the picture i mean one day, it's brilliant.
it is a chap with a black moustache and a white shirt sat at a circular table looking all forlorn.

Back Cover of Nov15, WT: Did Judah Remain Desolate?
by Midget-Sasquatch ini quickly read it all and thought.
again they use a poorlyreferenced quote and they leave out who knows what.
i wouldn't be surprised to find that the actual bar article they used disagreed with their "history.".

I notice they don't mention Jeremiah 25:12.

correspondence with a jw
by fullofdoubtnow intrev and a couple of his ex jw mates are building an information website for local ex jws.
it's slow progress, but they are getting there, and have had some positive feedback for what is on there already.
however, he received this email from a jw earlier tonight:.

It's really sad that when those who have been abused speak out, they will be called liars by the JW's. As if they haven't had enough to deal with...

What's the deal with beards????
by bittersweet inok, so my brother in law, a former elder, decided to grow a beard a while ago.
he initially grew it because he had a small rash he was trying to cover up, but that has since gone, and he has kept the beard.
he kept the beard because it made such a fuss that he decided if he shaved it off it would be like giving in to the brothers.

I don't know about the rest of the UK, but beards are a big thing in my area! You can't have any privileges with a beard!
I wasn't allowed to carry the mike the other week because I had stubble. Oh damn! -

R6, why do you post on this board? Badboy, GF = Girlfriend. XBEHERE, The elders in my hall are mostly crap, unkind people. Unfortunately, my Dad has the view that I had for many years. He thinks it's just a bad Congregation and that it doesn't reflect on other Congregations or the Organisation as a whole. Reading this board, I've found out that corrupt, unkind leaders, and power struggles are pretty much the norm in Jehovah's Witness congregations.

New special campaign....a few things that most don't see....
by RedPill2006 inok. we have that "special" campaign ahead.....i still don't know how i will avoid participating....my family is all excited and will put the pressure on.....i might get my 50 tracts and toss them somewhere......it will look suspicious that i finished after an hour and "placed" 50 pcs in a territory that is closed to jw.....anyway.
here a few thoughts that crossed my mind:.
everybody at my hall is all excited about this special tract and i can't get the nice conversations i usually have with a few going, because of the excitement.

The new tracts were released at our meeting last week, and we were told to write on the back of our report how many we place, during October and November, as the Society want to keep a record of it. I guess the Society will print a report in a future KM about how many were placed, to prove how successful the campaign was. Of course, they won't be printing a ratio of how many bible studies, or even magazine routes were started after placing these tracts during the campaign. And considering that Armageddon didn't come after the last 36 Kingdom News tracts, why do they think the 37th is so significant anyway?

Hi goodgifts, and welcome to the forum. The person who wrote that site was posting here regularly a few weeks ago under the username Thirdwitness. He seems to have disappeared now though. There was a VERY long thread debating that subject with thirdwitness here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/117658/1.ashx

by Gill ini ask this question, because in the kingdumb new 37, the 'false religion' one it says:.
'for a detailed explanation of this subject, see the book 'revelation - its grand clima at hand!

Can you get d'fd if the elders never catch up with you
by yaddayadda incan the elders hold a jc and disfellowship someone in absentia, without even making contact with you beforehand?
can they just summons you to a jc by, say, leaving a note in your letterbox or a message on your answerphone, and if you don't turn up, diss you anyway?
-
Zico
They need to send you a letter or something telling you when the JC meeting is. If you don't turn up, they will hold the meeting, and come to a judgement without you. If you didn't receive the letter, well, that's not their fault!
