mum, i said.. "if you were forced to decide, either quit being a witness or your son will die what would you choose?".

she said.. "well, i'd choose jehovah".

i thought she'd attempt to cover it up, maybe say "i don't know" or even shout at me but she answered that, she's confused thinking that pleasing god is being a witness, and i'd have to die because of her beliefs...deep down i knew the answer but it confirmed a few things for me.. i ain't shocked or upset but...if i was in the same situation, i would never ever let someone else suffer what i believe, that isn't just.. but she added something else.

That's the whole thing, you see? No matter what crazy policies they have, EVEN IF THEY ARE IN ERROR, they don't matter, because the resurrection will fix everything and bring everyone back. It's then cast as a matter of faith. Not accepting this policy that could result in loss of life which is based on really shaky scriptural grounds betrays a lack of faith in God.

The bomb scare - Convention

one of the worst things that a lot of people are scared of, is terrorism.

its an invisible enemy, to be honest i've stopped watching the news since it just got me down.. at a convention at the manchester evening news arena (used to be nynex arena) in manchester, there was a briefcase found.

no one claimed it and in the end it was thought to be a possible bomb.

What I heard wasn't that they were holding their Bibles up, it was that all their heads were looking down at their Bibles on their laps, and the "niles" (remember it was an Aussie dude giving the talk) flew right over everyone's heads and embedded in the back wall.

It's just a publicity stunt. I wouldn't worry too much. The concepts to be promoted by this new "political party" are so far out of the mainstream (even for the Dutch :) ) that I seriously doubt that they are making the proposal with any expectation of success.

No, that happened at our hall too, when the elder with the car with aircon decided the hall needed aircon too.
Wouldnt have been odd in some places, but over half of the congregation still had to get the bus to the hall because they didnt own cars. Several families didnt own a television, and lots of families didnt go on holiday. It was hard to understand why aircon in the hall was so important in such a cold climate.

Totally happened here too. They did that exact same secret pledge thing. This is total corporate orthodoxy, it's part of the Simplification™.
