restrangled, that's not Biblical, that's like something the Society would come up with.
It says "In God's image he created them, male and female he created them." The phrase "man is created in God's image" is based on that passage. It refers, not to males, but to to mankind, because it says that both males and females were created in God's image.
And what is a "Male type creation?" Come on, you just made that up.
And why would their offspring be hybrids? Why would they be any different than normal humans? I thought the angels changed themselves into men; did they have super sperm or something?

Materialised demons... why not?
by LtCmd.Lore inacctualy i don't believe in demons anymore.
but the recent bible teach study caused me to wonder... why does the society think that the demons are not capable of making bodies for themselves anymore, there was no support scripture so i looked it up on the wt library:.
in 1953 there was a questions from readers about why they posess people and animals... they simply stated without any proof that they are incapable of making bodies anymore.. then in 1955 they offer a scripture.. *** w55 10/1 p. 594 par.

Beware of higher criticism
by under_believer inanybody notice how the society decries the study of higher criticism (literary criticism of the bible) and yet must resort to it themselves in the all scriptures inspired book, where they are forced to admit that the first three gospels share a common source or are based on one another?
.
double standards are awesome.

An excellent rundown, PrimateDave.
One of my favorite parts is their quoting of Archer, when he says that the fact that higher criticism starts from the standpoint that Judaism was a manmade religion is a logical fallacy.
Except for... shouldn't that be the default? I mean, isn't the burden of proof on the person who is making the extraordinary claim, and not the other way around? To put it in atheistic terms, shouldn't the theists have to prove that God exists, rather than the atheists have to prove that he does not?
Another favorite moment is the part where the pot calls the kettle black. They criticize "One 19th-century scholar" for looking forward to Wellhausen’s book because it agreed with his prejudices. However, they neglect to mention that the extraordinary claim, that a book describing outlandish, magical events that we do not observe in our own world is actually true, is one that agrees with THEIR prejudices, which confirms what THEY want to believe.
"They prefer to explain away the Bible accounts of miracles as myths, legends, or folk tales, rather than consider the possibility that they really happened. But such a viewpoint is prejudiced and gives no solid reason to reject the Bible as true. Higher criticism is seriously flawed, and its assault on the Bible has failed to demonstrate that the Bible is not the Word of God."
This is perhaps my favorite part of the article. Seriously? Is higher criticism's goal to demonstrate that the Bible is not the Word of God? I don't think it is... I think it's simply a literary examination of the book, using well-established scholarly methods which have been used to analyze all kinds of texts, both modern and ancient, with great success. Nobody, including the Society, doubts literary criticism's acumen in any sector EXCEPT that of the Bible.
If I told you that the earth is actually a huge space-booger sneezed out of the nose of a gigantic space-wombat, you'd laugh at me and ask me for proof. If I told you that people used to be able to fly 1000 years ago, you'd ask me why they can't fly now.
Why can't the Bible be subject to the same level of scrutiny?
Again, Dave, very nice analysis. -

The best thing about that "saved by invisible angels" story is the fact that it's not unique to Witnesses. That was a huge eye-opener for me early in my awakening phase.

What were your seating habits at the hall?
by JH ini would always leave a space between me and someone else.
i hated when someone was seated right next to me.
didn't feel comfortable.. i also loved sitting in back of a tall person, that would hide everything, like that i could close my eyes and the speaker wouldn't notice.....lol.

Pre-wife: I'd sit next to other single guys.
Post-marriage, pre-kids: We'd fine an aisle seat, pretty much anywhere. We moved around alot.
Post-kids: Aisle, as far back as possible for quick exits when the kids act up (as kids are wont to do.) -

Oh! And IP_SEC, are you trying to say that on the day of a person's 18th birthday, if they're still a Witnesses after being raised in the truth, it's their own damn fault?
Were you raised in the truth? If so, do you look back at your 18 year old self and think how stupid you were to have stuck around?
BTW: I hate that term "raised in the truth" with it's implication that JWism is the truth. Nevertheless, it's the term. -

I categorically revile the comparison of Frederick W Franz to Adolph Hitler. Get a grip.

Jehovah's Witness Associate Livings Editor Does Relief Work
by Kenneson innick patterson, who is associate livings editor (southern living), has a slideshow of the relief work he and other jehovah's witnesses did in mississippi in december.
they worked on restoring kingdom halls and replaced the roof of a mrs. timms.
he doesn't say whether she is a jehovah's witness or one of their bible studies, but i'm assuming she is.

I know several who went to the hurricane area to help out in the construction line. They exclusively helped Witnesses. Whether or not their experience was unique, I cannot say.

> Funny, there are not too many atheists on Death Row.
That's because atheists are less likely to commit crimes than creduloids.
