Ah, the ultimate ex-JW insult: "You sound like a JW to me." Nicely done, I was wondering when that would come out.

I did read your thread (materially identical to the approximately 15,000 other "WTS USES SUBLIMINAL SATANIC IMAGES threads that JWD has had the "pleasure" of hosting since it went online), and I considered the evidence, such as it was. Unless you can produce something other than "hey that looks kinda like a face to me" you won't convince me that there the Watchtower is cleverly inserting subliminals. Those guys can't tell their ass from a hole in the ground, let alone orchestrate some kind of conspiracy.

What would constitute proof? Well, an artist that owned up to doing it would be one thing. Or maybe something that doesn't look like my three-year-old tried to draw a picture of SpongeBob SquarePants.

You seem to be won over on this, anyways, so I doubt asking you for actual proof will do any good, but it's interesting that you claim to have an open mind about this and yet you're arguing that it does in fact exist.

when i was in the witnesses, and near the end of my time in.

there was the whole new understanding, of putting non-anointed people in positions in the organization that were normally something an anointed person would be in.

i remember them mentioning that the amount of anointed was dwindling and there needed to be people in these positions of responsibility, to make sure the work continues.. after this was highlighted and all good witnesses swallowed this thinking hook line and sinker.

Um, what? No it's not my opinion. I linked you to a reputable source of research on the subject. Did you read it, or did you just see what I said and say "nuh-uh"? Unless you have evidence to the contrary, we can accept my assertions (backed with proof) over your opinions (backed with your persuasive "Well I think there's subliminals. SO THERE!")

You believe there's subliminals in the Watchtower? Where? Show me one. (Hint: you won't find one. The "faces" are so much pareidolia.)

OTWO has got a point about hypnotism? OTWO doesn't have any opinions that OTWO didn't get from someone else's documents. Go take a look at the page OTWO got all of the information from. Does that look like a reputable source to you? No, it does not. It's the usual 50 mile-long, eight different fonts and colors, heavy-use-of-underline crazy person site that we've all come to know and love.

See what I'm doing, here? I'm checking sources. I'm looking for facts. I'm not crossing my arms and saying "well that's your opinion."

OTWO, you really need to stop taking so many things for granted and actually find out whether the things you believe are true. Take the subliminal movie advertising thing, for example--that's a well-known urban legend which is thoroughly false. You also state that inventing a large cast of characters with original names (a la Pokemon) is hypnotism. Um, what? That's not hypnotism.

You've failed to establish that anything more sinister than regular religious conditioning is going on here. Yes, it's dangerous. No, it's not hypnotism and there are no sinister hypnotic methods (like moving your eyes back and forth in the KH) going on.

Seriously? There are enough things to legitimately criticize in the Watchtower, let's not set up fake, false things to criticize that will undermine our credibility on the very real issues.

Useing Fear to Manipulatethe Brothers to by Parking Tickets Cow Palace SF

do they still use the same fear inspiring annoncement to presure brothers not to park free on the street where they say is a high crime area and not safe, but instead are strongly encuraged to by a parking ticket from them and park safe in the patroled cow palace parking lots.

i used to hate reading and hearing this message being repeated so many time durring the sessions.

Yeah there is no fee for parking at any of the US convention sites. You just drive up and park.

All bogus, unless there's some weird JW offshoot splinter group. I have been a regular meeting attender for the entire duration and there are no new dates. Believe me you'd have heard about it here on JWD long ago were that the case.

No.

Find some non-woo, non-circumstantial, backed-by-science way of explaining this that doesn't depend on finding similarities between two obviously and clearly different phenomenons, and I'll listen.

There are other, far less mystical, far more mundane, far simpler and more believable reasons for the things you state. Occam's Razor suggests we should use these explanations rather than the ones that the "JW hypnosis" crowd advocates.
