Wow. I know I'm a minor poster and I won't be missed, but if this is how I can eventually hope to be treated by the management, I don't think I'll be casting my pearls here any longer, either. Failure to acknowledge that the members of a forum and not the management or ownership are where the value lies is where you lose me.
Yes, JWD provides a service. Yes, JWD is valuable. The reason it's valuable is the contributors. It'd be an empty forum, otherwise. Having millions of lines of text of free content just donated to your cause should be recognized.
I'm sorry... it pains me to do so and I don't know where else I might go, but there's no way I could direct anybody to this board knowing that eventually they'll disagree with the management and be treated very rudely.

The Truth About Matt 24 & Revelations
by kwr ini was doing some reading and came across the fact that matt 24 was fulfilled in 70 ad.
my thinking on these passages in the bible is that the destruction of the temple and the murder of 600,000+ jews by the romans was a fulfillment of those prophecies.
jesus was the messiah to the jews and that was his purpose.

Great post, leolaia. Perspective really helps.
Alan Feuerbacher wrote an essay called "Unassailable Proofs" that was very eye-opening to me. As he points out within (and everyone really should read it), many wars could be referred to as "World Wars": The War of Spanish Succession, the Seven Years' War, the American War of Independence, DEFINITELY the Napoleonic Wars and so on. Many wars have cost more in terms of human life than did World War I, especially in China.

Brooklyn Says they Need 40,000 qualified Brotheres
by drew sagan ini just mentioned this in another post but thought i would start a new thread about it.
my wife reminded me a few days ago that the bethel speaker at our convention stated that "the organization is in need of more than 40,000 qualified brothers to take the lead".
this basically means that brooklyn is saying that every congregation in the world is down 1 - 1.5 qualified brothers(?

In the congregation I attend, every meeting, there are three elders passing microphones. The only new elder the hall has had in 5 years is one of the elder's sons. He is barely qualified to speak or teach. If those aren't signs that they're hard up for volunteers I don't know what is.

PO said automation and declining contributions reason for Bethel layoffs
by truthseeker inlast week at the meeting, the po, who has very close connections to bethel, said that he never thought he would see the day that bethelites were being sent home.
he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

It's like some kind of beautiful dream... Here's to 10 more years of declining contributions, and an overreaction from the Society on how to deal with it. Cheers! *clink*

I used cow manure to fertilize my vegetable garden this year, it worked GREAT! I got excellent yields. At the end of the day it's just a nitrogen delivery agent.

Watchtower CD stops working when this site is open
by skin inhis any one else found that the latest wt cd rom won't work if you have this web site (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com) open?

Granted, it sucks, especially for non-computer-people, but nevertheless, on a Windows machine, it is something that is a good thing to do now and then.

Reinstalling Windows is hardly drastic. It's part of normal computer maintenance, like changing your car's oil filter.

B-12 shot for the WT -"Deliverance" DC & Mideast flare up timing
by Gregor inonce again, world events come along and give the wt a free booster shot.
nothing better than coming home from the dc, opening the paper and seeing headlines like "mideast in flames" "is nuclear confrontation far off?
" "north korea tests nuke capable missiles" etc etc.

That's the beauty of this little scam they have going, isn't it, Gregor? As far as I can tell, Jesus was just describing the human condition.
It's like a gypsy fortune teller who says "I see a mannnnn in your life... who dieeeed...." and the person's all like "THAT'S AMAZING!!! HOW DID YOU KNOW!!! MY FATHER/HUSBAND/BROTHER/BOSS/DOCTOR DIED!!!!!" It's one of the oldest tricks in the book. Describe something vague and mundane, and say it's a prophecy or a revelation. Wash, rinse, and repeat. -
