I don't know if knocking on doors is unnatural or not, but knocking on doors on holidays such as Christmas and Thankgiving(USA) is sooooooo wrong. I realized how intrusive and arrogant that was only after I had been out a couple years, thought I was saving them from the evil Christmas demon! lol

What Are "Unfair" Things JWs Made You Do?
by minimus ini was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.
.....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!
.....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?

How Does Your Garden Grow?
by OpenFireGlass inlife is like growing a garden... there's alot of people who may swear by, "miricle-gro"(the bible)... but that is not the only way to grow your garden green... .
i mean, yes there is an optimal formula to grow a nice garden, but not everyone uses "miricle-gro"... some of us use bone meal, blood meal, and chicken manure.
while others use, bat guanno, soy meal, and fish emulsion.

Some friends of mine from Japan tell me that in alot of Asian countries they use their own shit for fertilizer. I'm not saying this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I bet it smells perty shitty.

You should definitely convert at least 1000 British pounds into Kenyan currency and tell him that he just "won" it for being the most hospitable host in Kenya!

JW Graduates at the top of her class
by TresHappy inthe sound system always seems to blare piercing static through the speakers.
the weather is often too hot or disappointingly overcast.
i'm not going to go up there and thank all my friends or talk about being together in the future.

J.W. relatives- ignorant or arrogant
by Cabin in the woods inmy husband has a sister (lori) pioneer and her hubby (mike) elder who have never had any respect for my husband or myself.
even when we were going to meetings they overstepped their parameters constantly.
demanding personal information and not honoring a simple request to not 'drop in' whenever they get a whim.

I would have to agree with Aude, my JW relatives are both, but in my case the ignorance and arrogance go hand in hand and are equally strong.

Traditional observance of U.S. Memorial day has diminished over the years. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored, neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades. Some people think the day is for honoring any and all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country.............My question is, now that most here are out of the "organization" have you laid a wreath, decorated a fallen soldiers grave or just flew a flag on memorial day, whether it was for a relative, good friend or just in remembrance of all who have died in war?
