It's funny this topic came up; I just met with a tat artist yesterday, I'm getting my first this weekend.

A JW MISCONCEPTION:
by whyizit inthat is why there is a baptist church here, and a lutheran church there....etc..... i belong to a community church that is non-denominational, and this belief is just not true.
many of the area churches, including our's, participate with and encourage each other.
we do not hate each other at all.

Anyone ever sit in the accounting room during the convention? It's a group of elders, laid back, not paying attention to the Assembly, talking about sports, drinking coffee, and half assed counting THOUSANDS of dollars that are brought in to them constantly. Nothing proffessional about it, and nothing to stop any of these guys from 'skimming off the top' if they wanted to. I dunno, if you do the math, the WTS gets a LOT of money; the report is that in 2005 they spent about $140 million on taking care of CO's. I was shocked. $140 million? They've got some MAJOR bucks. I lived in Palm Beach when the WTS got a hold of the local convention center and bought it for about $12 million. It was a big piece of land, and there was a baseball stadium on it. The WTS tore down the stadium, cleared the area, kept the convention center and some of the land to make a parking lot for the new Assembly hall to be built, and sold just a PIECE of the cleared land to home depot for $40+ million!! They made a profit lol. I didn't think they could do that. The West Palm Beach Christian Convention Center is perhaps the biggest and nicest of them all to date that is 100% under WTS ownership.

Thanks for the support guys ;-)
In February I completed my Bachelor's Degree (in a year and a half) in Finance. I've since gotten hired by Edward Jones and will be starting a new branch in my area for them in the coming months. I'm clean as can be (no drugs, no tobacco, no alcohol). I'm not going to say I'll never drink again, I just won't be getting foolishly drunk anymore. As far as she goes-- I'm sure this will be a very maturing experience for her, and hopefully she'll straighten out and be a good mother. There's going to be major problems as far as I'm concerned; I don't want the child raised in JW organization; and unless she gets out of her parents' grip, she won't agree to that. I'll just allow time to pass, and continue on with my life. Once the baby is born, I'll legally have my rights, and no elder, jw, or any belief can keep that from me. How ironic, the law of the land oversees Jehovah's in this instance. Or should they remain 'faithful' to Jehovah and not speak to me? -

Are there still things that were witness no-no's that you refrain from?
by AK - Jeff infor me, after decades as a witness there are quite a few i suppose.
this thread was inspired by min's thread about sex and our attitudes now as opposed to when we were witnesses.. one thing that i have never done - and it might seem somewhat trivial to many - i have never, not once, in my entire life uttered the f word.
i always found it to be utterly vulgar - and i still do.

Christmas? Halloween? Birthdays? I don't celebrate any of those, and won't ever have an interest in doing so. But if there's a Christmas party down at the office, or someone is getting birthday cake, I'm not going to run away like the old days. Give me some egg nog and a slice of Betty Crocker!

HA! My father got a phone call this morning; and the elder that called told him that although I am disfellowshipped, if I do not cooperate with them, my father's conscience should not allow him to continue as an elder. WOW. Their way or the highway? The funny thing is, my father and I live in 2 different states...why the hell should what happens with me affect his standing in his congregation? They REALLY are out for this girl's head.

I stated that incorrectly
Out of everyone in the group, she was in the middle of her first Jc(drinking) and I had just gotten reinstated About a year before that. So both of us were the "cooler" ones in the group by everyone else's standards. -

MY DAD HAS LEFT THE ORGANIZATION!!
by freedomlover inhold on everybody....ready for this.... .
if you've been reading my posts over the past few months you'd see the research and progress my dad (a former elder) has been making.
he and my stepmom were visiting us this weekend and he told us he's done with the jw's.

Yeah that did slip my mind. I still look down upon politics, military affairs, and nationalism. I'm neutral as can be in that sense. But that's a Biblical no-no, not really a JW one. The JW's are the only one's that follow it.

Yeah DF'ed roomie. And here's my definition of a friend: someone who will ALWAYS be your friend. If I get df'ed and my "friends" won't talk to me...they aren't my friends. Sadly I do feel the elders in this situation already were set on DF'ing both of us, but she managed to weasel out of it. Her JC and my JC were assigned to work together in this matter by the WTS, and they told me and her so many lies, took things out of context, bent the truth, withheld facts, and worded questions in their interviews with others all in an obvious attempt to get us to incriminate ourselfs or one another. They managed to basically ruin my life. And if I didn't have a heart I'd grab a few cans of lighter fluid and light the KH on fire.

I am a musician and I still feel wrong when music that's classified as heavy metal, regardless of malicious lyrics or not, comes on. Programmed into my head to hate the stuff.
