  AN ELDER SPOKE TO ME TODAY

  most here will know of the serious illness i've been fighting for the past two years.

  well, this morning i decided to go for a stroll to try and help build up my fitness.

  at the bottom of my street lives an elder from my old congregation and i have to pass his house.

  Ian, what you said was right. He never cared for you and was one who did you much harm.

  Are elders caring and loving to the sheep, including the lost? Definitely not! Most of my life I was a jw and my father was an elder. A caring elder was the rare exception and never lasted very long. The WTS is not about love, it’s about literature distribution. The elders love to be told how encouraging and caring they are and love to present themselves that way, but the truth is very different. Position, power and the sweet double-honour is what they live for. Power-hungry elders can't be denied, but are often downplayed.

  Thanks a lot Serendipity for the background information.

  Avengers, we had a MS in our congregation who worked in a travel agency located in the premises of the US Army. He had to either change his job or loose his privileges. It was a big issue and much talked about in our cong, the instructions came from the society. The travel agency was in no way associated with the military, it was civilian. It was the location of his employment which was disturbing. On the other hand we had book studies and FS meeting points even jw wedding and other gatherings using military housing. To think that the WTS was a NGO member of the UN, for whatever reasons, is disgusting, especially knowing that the r&f have to make many sacrifices so as the keep separate and neutral as required by the WTS.

  A link to this site was posted on Rado's JW infomation service. Thats the first time I saw it. It seem to be new and is shared a lot. JWs will rather believe what the WTS tells them no matter what.

  JWs are gossip mongers

  once i left the jw social scene and started hanging out with "worldly" people a lot more, i realized that these "worldly" people don't gossip nearly as much as the witnesses.. i didn't realize it at the time but now i can see how much of a gossip-based social structure it all was.

  jws absolutely thrive on gossip.

  Gossip & slander was one of the most exhausting things about being a jw. And when this topic was discussed at the Sunday WT study it was always interesting to see how the member would attack each other and feel completely innocent. Those were the liveliest meetings.

  Everywhere do you find (harmful) gossip, but as a jw being told your living in spiritual paradise and are part of a loving brotherhood identified by love, the gossip hurt much more. It was or is the power of the elder wives, since they know best what is fabricated at JC’s. In the world the expectation and approach to people is different and not as burdensome, IMO. fts

  The REAL REASON JW's refuse blood

  but they don't realize that what the bible says about blood is not the real reason why they refuse blood transfusions.

  therefore what the bible says at matthew 24:34 is not the real reason they believed it.

  here too the real reason will only show up if the society ever changes what it teaches about blood transfusions.

  Thanks for your replies.

  Is that site run by the WTS (UK branch) or some individual JWs?

  To me it seems more likely that it is run by individuals maybe supported by the branch or public affairs office.

  I expected some new light to come at the DC and hear rumours that something big is coming towards the end of the year. If the WT steps back from the 607/1914 teaching that would be huge. Time surly is running out on them. We’re heading for 2014 –it’s not that much of a short period of time since 1914.Well, I’m looking to see how things develop. Denial is what JWs are very good at doing and it has been working well for them. Very few JWs are interested in chronology and can explain the 1914 calculation. Maybe that site is an indication that the society is holding on to 1914.

  i remmber sister so and so she looked about 100-years-old i felt sorry for her she was at every meeting and everyone was passing her around, cause she always needed a ride to the meeting.

  she was one of the 144000, so much for brotherly love.

  i had a hard time with that, she could only partake on the memorial good thing she got a ride that day.

  There was an anointed brother we knew in another congregation. A brother of his congregation told us that after 40+ (?) years the anointed was appointed to be an MS. I asked if he was a good speaker and qualified to teach, and how could it be that Jehovah anointed him to be king and judge in heaven, yet he is not appointed to be an elder. The answer was that the elders didn’t like him, since he was critical of them and knew the bible better. He never became an elder. As a child his didn’t make much sense, I thought the elders are in big trouble with Jehovah. fts
