get rich quick schemes, multilevel marketing, pyramid schemes and JWs
by marmot infrom my experience growing up in the jws there were two big recurring themes when it came to making money: .
1 - window washing or other janitorial work .
2 - cheezy "get rich quick" schemes and other cult-like sales practices .

This reminds me of when many in my congregation got involved in selling Amway products.
When my parents and other jws came back from their first seminars my mother said, "it was just like at the kindom hall. We had to do a demo on the platform and after each part there was counceling from a trainer, just like the elders at TMS." She kept repearing, "it was just the same, it was just the same.."
too bad I was to young to click onto the similarities..

Help needed: Killing the 'The light gets brighter' argument?
by jah1914 inso after the revelation study last night where the paragraph was talking about how russell's interpertation of revelation basically didn't work and got discarded, my wife comments with the same old,"the light gets brigther, that's why i respect fds because at least they will change when they figure out something is wrong.
" (insert vomit here) afterwards, me and the book study conductor(i have to at least give him credit, he is someone i can talk to freely about my questions and he has not,as of yet, turned me in) got into a discussion of what 'the light gets brighter' really means.
he basically says so the brothers have made changes, so what?

Kirk,
jws do read the scriptures you posted, but not in the context and with that emphasis.
Jws focus mainly on a few key-scriptures which support the wt teaching.
So I think your scriptures can be very helpful when discussing the New Light Scripture. -

Do Elders pay attention to who's missing the meetings and how often?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inelders are very busy before and after the meetings.
they have many parts during the ministry school.
they have elder meetings after the meetings are over.
